i think lucas beineke from the addams family musical is a great character, because you don’t see him for almost the first half hour of the play, so all you really know about him is that he likes wednesday and he’s from ohio, so everyone’s immediate reaction is “nope he’s not good enough for her” and then he shows up and the first thing he does is call wednesday a goddess and you’re like “okay maybe he’s not so bad.” like you go into it wanting to hate him on principle but then it turns out he’s just a sweet dork who’s trying his best to be fun and spontaneous but he physically cannot stop himself from making plans and being stressed about everything. like look at this dumb english major who brings up shakespeare characters to avoid talking about his feelings, whose idea of flirting is doing a very dangerous thing and saying “you’ll be the last thing i see before i die,” and who supports his parents weird new career choice of building aquariums. like he brings up how he’s named after his uncle who brutally lost his leg like it’s a casual conversation topic and he would die for wednesday addams with zero hesitation, he’s perfect
