Sushri Kalapini komkali ji काशी उत्सव 2021 बनारस Endowed with a wholly original, melodious and rich voice, Kalpini is well-trained and widely recognized as one of the finest classical vocalists of the younger generation. She is the daughter and disciple of the legendary Pandit Kumar Gandharva and has also been trained by her illustrious mother, Vidushi Vasundhara Komkali. Kalapini not only learned from her distinguished parents the technique and grammar of her art but also inherited a capacity for creativity and reflection. While strengthening her hold over her inheritance with a fine sense of understanding, she has evolved her own vision and has emerged in the last decade as a vocalist with a profound degree of sensitivity and intensity. Her musical lineage is most manifest in the emphasis laid on the rendition of the bandish (composition), its bhava or meaning, and in the studied restraint which does not allow the notes, or laya (tempo), to overwhelm the lyrics. Kalapinis wide repertoire of ragas and compositions is further supplemented by the presentation of the traditional songs of the Malwa region. The Sagun-Nirgun Bhajans of various saint poets rendered in her inimitable style provide the ascetic flavor to Kalapinis music. Kalapini has received a fellowship from Dept. of Culture, Government of India and has been honored with the Kumar Gandharva Award. Her several recordings have been released by different music companies. Kabir Café or Neeraj Arya's Kabir Café is an Indian indie-folk and folk-fusion music band based in Mumbai. Originated in 2013, it consist of Neeraj Arya, founder and Mukund Ramaswamy, co-founder of the band along with other artists. History Neeraj Arya, the founder of the group and a self-taught artist started his music career as a solo-artist in early 2000s. As influenced form 15th century's saint Kabir and his guru Prahalad Singh Tipaniya, Arya started playing folk melodies of Kabir's dohas and sakhis. In 2012, performing on the streets of Mumbai as part of the non-profit Natural Streets for Performing Arts (NSPA), Arya met violinist Mukund Ramaswamy, and the two started performing as a duo. By the time, more artists joined the group and in late 2013 the group represented itself as Kabir Café. The band has released two albums, their debut 'Panchrang' in 2016 and their live album 'Kabir Café Live' in 2018, the band is most interested in live performances. Indian Ocean is an Indian rock band formed in New Delhi in 1990, who are widely recognized as the pioneers of the fusion rock genre in India. Susmit Sen, Asheem Chakravarty, Rahul Ram and Amit Kilam were band members till Chakravarty's demise on 25 December 2009, after which Tuheen Chakravorty and Himanshu Joshi were officially inducted into the band as replacements. After the departure of Susmit Sen in 2013, Rahul Ram is the only founding member who appeared on the band's debut album Indian Ocean.
