some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.

You need to get back in the game for your own good. You can beat this, Dean. Do you really believe that? Yeah, you’re damn right I believe that.

Santos has an attitude problem and has obvious (and explained) male authority issues and she can be mean and she gave some not very nice nicknames to the med students. But also like. She fixed Whitaker’s finger without him even asking. She consoled him when Mr. Milton died and reassured him it wasn’t his fault. Even when she made a callous and cruel joke about him killing his patient later on, she instantly took it back and reaffirmed to him once again that it wasn’t his fault. She took the blame for Mohan when Langdon was about to ream them out. She clearly felt very conflicted about reporting Langdon even though it was the right thing to do, and even after he screamed at and berated her and she had every reason to want revenge. She tried her best to comfort Jake. She again earnestly checked in on Whitaker after he had to go into the makeshift morgue to grab a blanket.
Like I’m not saying Santos is an angel or even that she’s necessarily nice. But she’s also not the cruel, cold-hearted bitch so many people make her out to be.
#people saw how she reacted tot he child molester#or the suicidal patient#and got COLD HEARTED?#jesus

garcia asking santos her sign is so funny to me because it either implies that under garcia's stern, extremely logical core that she is Whimsical and enjoys things like zodiacs or that she is trying so hard to signify herself as #forthegirls that she tries to ask the gayest question she can think of.

The creators of the Pitt were like what if we create a show about the extreme hardships of being a healthcare worker particularly in the wake of the covid-19 pandemic but underneath that it’s an exploration of human nature and the ways we all crack under pressure and underneath that it’s about unresolved trauma and how it ripples out and affects everyone around us and underneath that it’s about milfs. And God bless them for it 🫡

The strongest theme of The Pitt for me is how nothing is how the public expects it. You think you know how unhoused people look like? No, he can be a fourth year med student doing his best. CSA survivor with a best friend who committed suicide? she's the meanest R1 who is not letting injustice slide and gets so excited about every procedure. The addict and the woman going through a miscarriage are the most competent senior residents you've ever seen. The attending saving the day at the last minute is an amputee.
Noah Wyles and his team really said "Nothing in ER departments is how it's supposed to be from the 12-hour wait times to the lack of blood, but people going through what would be anybody else's worst day are the only thing keeping the american healthcare system together"

Only been watching The Pitt for a few days but Mel King is THE best autistic character ever written in a medical drama. She doesn't "make connections no one else can" or "just see things differently" or any other Savant with Special Abilities stereotypical bullshit, she's a resident physician who's exactly as intelligent and capable as any other resident physician in the same year. She hates unnecessary yelling because it's loud and annoying, not because she's completely incapable of handling conflict. She usually keeps her stimming subtle enough to hide but sometimes she can't. She loves having a furry critter to pet. She accommodates an autistic patient by lowering the lights and closing the doors because she understands the sensory nightmare of an active medical setting. She speaks in a straightforward and honest way but she isn't an overtly rude inconsiderate asshole. She misses some jokes and takes things too literally on occasion but she does have a sense of humor and she is funny. She speaks up against misinformation and parent panic about autism and other developmental disabilities. She has emotions. She looks at a video of a lava lamp on her phone to chill. Doctor Mel King you have my entire heart
