Process Week 10
I have to get back into the feel of things after the long break, but some ideas I want to do for Over the Rhine are incorporate a responsive website. I also want to do an app that gets you around town to the different brewery districts, as they are huge in that area. I also want to make an app for the different markets the neighborhood holds. I also want to do maps for kiosks and signage around the neighborhood as it is in need of it badly.

Process for week 6
Worked on paper systems and experimenting with different ways of my logo pattern to work well on the business card and letterhead. I am currently looking for info graphics for OTR and some really well designed info graphics for other places. All the examples are going to be on my http://www.pinterest.com/biancaiayala/ profile!

Process for week 4
Starting to refine roughs, and really trying to get used to the pathfinder tool, I am currently working on two versions for my OTR project. One is where it looks as if the river is flowing through one leg of the R, and the other is a clean O that has different shapes in the O to symbolize the way Over the Rhine is becoming an arts district. There is a mural that has greatly influenced the neighborhood recently and I mimicked the shapes into the O.

Process Work for third week.
Started working on logos this week and was separating them into categories and seeing the different concepts that could come out of them. Very difficult to do multiple ones but I did research what Over The Rhine meant, and the town. Over the Rhine means over the river, so I started incorporated the river in my logos, as well as german architecture, and different important landscapes.

Project Overview, Creative Objectives, Brand Positions & Values.
Project Overview
Over the Rhine is a very historic German neighborhood in Cincinnati. The area used to flourish because of its arts, brewery district, and very German architecture. It is in need of restoration, due to decaying buildings, and for the sake of high crime. Crime has decreased over the years but still a problem, which is why this project was started.
Creative Objectives
Over the Rhine is in need of a brand identity that could help them propel into the new restoration projects the area is going through. This could be the architecture, area landmarks, and historic sites this place holds.
Brand Positions and Values
Over the Rhine, is an area that holds tons of history that we need to preserve and convey in the brand identity. It will focus on the roots that OTR offers.

Process for the week 1/23/13 (week 2)
The process of this week was to research and I made a timeline, and word listed what the OTR (Over the Rhine) had to offer, which included German Architecture, the river, the brewery district, the German ancestors and so forth. Started sketching some ideas for it to later progress into logos.

Project 1- Define the Problem (OTR-Branding Systems)
Define the Problem: Over the Rhine is a neighborhood that sits in the city of Cincinnati, Ohio, and has been notorious for its crime rates. In 2006, it had become one of the highest rated neighborhoods with crime in the city. In attempts to save the dead city, and very high crime rate, restoration has been done but it is in still in need of it. There must be something done to decrease the high crime rate.

Process for Branding Systems
I got a Pinterest, people. Which is -> (biancaiayala) <- if you want to follow that. My process for the first part of a Design for Community Preservation, started with first choosing a place which I felt was something I needed to feel passionate about. I started looking at historic communities, and realized what neighborhoods could use a helping hand and in conclusion I came up with Over-The-Rhine (OTR) in Cincinnati, Ohio which has high crime rates and is in need of more restoration. Looking at images of the place, the buildings were decaying and it looked dark and gloomy. I felt this place could use some help. It has had restoration done to it already but it is still in need of massive help due to some housing still looking like this picture and it also has high crime rates. I chose OTR for the brand system preservation.

For the second part of my process, I had to use Pinterest and pin pictures of imagery related to my community, maps and info-graphics, and any existing preservation/community logos.
After that I had to address the problem of what was going on in OTR, which has pretty much has come to the conclusion that it has a high crime rate. -BA
