art loves to feel needed, and that's why he loves you so much. you're not completely helpless, you can walk and talk and piss on your own, but you like to ask him to do most things for you. the best part is that he always does!

need help on your essay? art is in the google doc proofreading and commenting to make sure it's perfect. a dollar short at the checkout? don't worry about it, art's paying for the whole thing! need a hug after a long day? say no more, he's up and pulling you in! you're sick? well, prepare for the best care of your life, because art basically becomes a stay at home mom. he doesn't go to his classes, he doesn't go to practice. he only leaves your dorm to pick up soup and tea, which he makes and brews for you whenever you need it.

he's not trying to make you love him or anything, because he knows you do and always will even if he wasn't at your every beck and call. he just liked to know that you rely on him. that he's the one you go to for literally everything. it makes him happy to make you happy. sweet boy!

patrick had never really felt attached to a person before-- not the way he felt attached to you, at least-- especially when it came to his dating life. patrick zweig did not date. patrick zweig had dreams, and he couldn't handle some silly "long-term serious relationship" bogging him down. the only thing patrick zweig was serious about was tennis. 

until he met you. until he met you and your eyes seemed to show him everything he had been missing for his entire life. it wasn't even a dealbreaker when he found out you were a whole decade younger. or when he found out you had a kid from a previous relationship. patrick zweig who was, though he'd never admit it himself, so afraid of relationships wasn't afraid of you. or your kid. he actually quite liked the kid and regarded him no differently than he'd regard one with his dna. 

when he was in town, he was always down to stay in with you two and watch a movie. cuddle on the couch like a real family. when he was away, he was constantly asking for pics and updates on the little guy. patrick had grown incredibly fond of you two without even realizing it, and suddenly fooling around with other hotties on tour didn't even cross his mind. what did cross his mind was when he'd get to go home next.

the story of how the three of you got together is actually quite interesting. you were attending stanford just like art, and you were in charge of photographing sports events for some extra cash on the side. art immediately caught your eye, and you caught his. half the photos you got from tennis events (practices and games and the like) were unusable because they were just of art. despite the eye flirting, you'd never actually spoken before. at least, not until a man with curly black hair took notice of you and art's mutual interest and just had to take charge.

patrick struck up a conversation, got to know you pretty well, and decided you were perfect. he and art were in an unspoken relationship, but if they were going to have a third it'd be you. he befriended you, and you subsequently befriended art, and it was kind of a downwards spiral from there. it was hard to navigate at first, but you all eventually got the hang of it.

patrick's often busy with his tour, but you and art are pretty much always together and texting or skyping him. he doesn't like to be so far away and you and art don't like missing him. sometimes he picks up a little postcard if he's in a particularly neat area and sends it over because he knows you like to scrapbook/journal with them. does he have a lot of money to spare? not really. is the 50 cents worth it for you? yes.

while pat's gone, you and art do the things patrick lacks the patience for-- stuff like museum dates or walks around the park. art holds your hand everywhere you go.

when pat is around, the three of you are absolutely inseparable. artrick teach you how to play tennis so you can play with them, and sometimes you end up playing all day. when you're all tired out, you order some crappy food and pile into art's bed for a cuddle and pig-out session. you and pat always end up laying on art, with your head on his stomach and pat's on his chest. patrick's hand usually reaches up to toy with art's hair, and art's hands reach down to play with yours.

as for the parents...

patrick isn't really in contact with his anymore. they didn't approve of him going pro right out of MRTA, and he decided he didn't need their approval on anything. he was an adult now, whether he acted like one or not. if they knew they'd, probably flip. art's parents don't like it all that much. they're kinda traditional, so this while throuple thing kinda gave them both an aneurysm when they first heard it. your parents? they don't really understand. not in a hateful way, they just straight up don't get it. how is it possible to have two boyfriends? either way, you're happy so they're happy.

Obscure reference but every time I see The Challengers or Mike Faist I scream ITS DANNY ZUKO. I don’t know why I do that but I do. He hasn’t been Danny Zuko since spring 2009 but I’ll always remember that he was Danny and that I got to shine the spotlight on him. i feel like art is a nonstop fidgeter. he doesn't even realize he's doing it because it's little things like playing with his knuckles, or moving his shoulders, or bouncing his leg up and down. oh my GODD the bouncing. when he and patrick would sit and watch a movie or play a video game, he'd always get yelled at for shaking the whole damn couch. patrick had to physically stop him from bouncing his leg, but he literally can't help it. i feel like he definitely almost got smacked around a couple times in school for resting his foot on the back of someone's chair and continuing to bounce his leg like crazy. he's insufferable

when art was a teenager, he HATED babies. he thought they were loud and messy and not worth the hassle and he swore he'd NEVER have one of his own. he was nervous for your entire pregnancy because he was so scared he'd hate it (the baby) when it came out or something. his fears were dispelled as soon as he held lily for that first time, and her big eyes looked back up at him and she looked EXACTLY like you. he knew in that moment that he'd do anything for her.

that's why he doesn't mind you being too tired to do a lot of the stuff she needs. he'll gladly take care of it. childbirth is rough, he understands that, and he just wants you to be okay and not resent this period of time later. he changes her diapers-- you have to tell him to wrap them tighter because he wraps them too loose for fear of hurting her-- and bathes her and brushes what little hair her little head has. he brings her to you when you wanna hold her, or when she needs to be fed. he takes her away when you look like you're about to break down. puts her down for a nap so he can hold you instead. he's so perfect.

art only has dessert as a VERY rare treat because he needs to stay fit for tennis. he only eats it when it's your birthday, or if you've baked something special for him. when he allows himself dessert he's absolutely the messiest eater you've ever seen. like normally he's very clean and careful, but i fear that all his manners go out the window when you put a piece of cake in front of him. give him a fork or a spoon and he's TEARING into the dessert, not even caring that most of it is sticking around his lips and not actually getting in his mouth. normally he'd be embarrassed, but he knows that you'll just kiss the cake off, so he really doesn't lose anything. i think his fave is the fig chantilly cake from whole foods (im projecting)

art probably naturally runs very cold. he's ALL about a thick hoodie and fluffy socks. in the winter he's actually insufferable no matter how many blankets he hides under, so you or patrick or tashi absolutely HAVE to get under with him and cuddle him. he genuinely won't stop whining until he's cuddled in bed with one of you, or all of you, with some snacks and a movie and some hot cocoa. he insists on all this and then insists he isn't needy-- he just doesn't wanna get sick from the cold...
