Bizarre Jarida Fanfic: Desolation part 1
In my point of view it is quite bizarre considering the first impression I had when I first wrote. I would like to see what you guys think. It is not refined but I'll post it anyway. If you guys like it I shall make an improved version of it. Here it is, the first part.
It felt like a brief and painful awakening. Princess Merida and her family, Jack Frost and the guardians, Hiccup and Astrid, their friends and family, Toothless, Rapunzel, her family and friends, Elsa, Anna, their family and friends. All of them were suddenly brought back from oblivion to contemplate: the remainings of a world that was built for them and which they were a part of. It was a dark and complete desolation, with black ash and sand dragged byt the wind in a vast open field with faint signs of hills.A sad contemplation, even the lack of adventure, a slow revelation of the destruction's origin and cause. The inevitability and hopelessness, with no dreams of reconstruction. The sunlight permanently near the horizon is but a weak white light from behind an always black and grey sky covered by clouds.First it felt strange. Where were they? They chat to each other just to try to understand what was going on. They choose to explore, feeling that there was something more about that place, despite its never changing landscape and atmosphere. The group finds a rock formation in one of the hills, forming a cave with a small stream. This cave-like structure, once you enter, has the view of the pale sun always near to the horizon. The environment in general also has a strange sad calmness, sounding like an acceptance of the desolation. There were shy reactions, with passive curiosity as the windblows at them and weak sand tornadoes form in the distance, being a contemplative phenomena rather than a threat. The cave is more of a stopping point for them to gather and contemplate, to reflect and scatteredly walk around, but still with the feeling that something or someone is trying to talk within them. There was a strange message that what was supposed to be built there was for them and for them to be part of it. all that was left were those sounds of nature and calm melancholy, for the warm chants and songs of glory became nothing but irritating noise for that someone or something that didn't say a word but was still talking.Maybe they never wanted such a thing in the first place, but they would find out that they just were thrown into a similar situation as the time passed. All what they were was thrown into the garbage can when times changed, but they weren't conscious of the situatiopn in any way - what they did or what reasons condemned them to such a state, when the disaster happened. The truth seemed evasive about the details, or maybe hidden, but not to go against them. There was a sudden burst of an invisible force wanting to send them back to oblivion where they should have never left. But it quickly disappeared.
The momentary threat of being returned to oblivion awoke a sense of unity and shared purpose among them. Faced with the potential loss of whatever remnants remain of their existence, they feld compelled to work together, delving deeper into the mysterious environment to find a way to resist or understand the force trying to relegate them back to their former state. This imminent danger triggered a spark of resilience and determination within them, encouraging them to explore the world and uncover its secrets, along with discovering a means to reclaim their identities or alter their fate. As they unite against this common threat, they begin to seek answers, forming a bond in their shared quest for understanding and survival.
They gather but find themselves with nothing and nowhere to go. Things calm down after a while, with no particular event occuring. Our protagonists spend their time mostly in shock and doubt while absorving what they just felt.
Suddenly, they take notice on three tall distant objects behind the cave, inthe open dark field. There was nothing special about them except their sheer size. But then the group would witness a strange presentation. Like the golden mirage of a distant memory, another light like the sun appeared high in the sky, dispersing the dark clouds. The three objects were towers. Three gigantic towers with three diferent heights, each had a golden dome, resembling Russia, but a majestic music began to play. With the sound of metals, plates, drums and strings, started an instrumental version of kaiserhymne from the austrian empire. They too saw a flock of white doves flying around those towers. For a moment it was like a small glimpse of what once was or was supposed to be.
They felt awe and curiosity. It would make them wonder if that was what it felt like if they lived in such a world, and if it was really made for them. They would be washed by the feeling of grandeur and prosperity. There was also a feeling of longing and undescribable nostalgia. Those towers evoked the feeling that the group was witnessing an empire that supposely existed. Such display also warmly invited them to contemplate. To Show them a friendly hospitality. It was more of a share of feelings rather than manipulation.
Despite having only the three towers, it felt like they were witnessing the whole imperial capital. As another instrumental music started to play, they felt they would have to talk with each other once the spectacle was over. the continued to watch with more curiosity above all. The next instrumental music was the orchestral version of "God save the Tsar" from Russia - actually the 10 minute long symphony "Fantasie sur I'Hymne National Russse" from 1886 - always evoking the feeling of a prosperous empire. But then, with the end of the music, a last one played as a sad solemn farewell. It was the instrumental version of Russia's "How Glorious is Our Lord in Zion" from 1794.
The wordless message came. That someone built that world form them, and yearned they could be part of it. But it was smashed as easy as a card castle, like a huge rock mercilessly destroying a vast and beautifully crafted glass roof, and smashing the owner like a worm agonizingly twisting under its infinite weight. That same "rock" was what sent the characters to oblivion. Somehow they were brought back, maybe only to be a part of the description process of the harsh reality. This harsh revelaation raised questions about their existence and the consequences of forces beyond their control. it was a heavy realization that left everyone feeling overwhelmed ans struggling tograpple with teh implications of their presence in this desolate reality.
And worse, the unstoppable force would very likely come for them, and erase them out of existance with the same brutality. Anna and rapunzel were the more vulnerable ones to the realization, but even Merida would breake over time.
It felt like a disaster similar to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Jack Frost as a guardian felt he had this responsability to look after his friends, along with hiccup and the other men in the group.
To make things worse, Merida began to despair, crying, hyperventilating, falling on her knees and covering her face. Her particular fall deeply affected Anna and Rapunzel. Elsa was by Anna's side. jack went to assist Merida.
- I can't - Merida said, talking to herself - I can't bear this. It's all too much. Why is this happening... I don't understand!
- I can't do it. It's ... too hard. I can't... I can't... - she continued.
- Merida, hey, it's okay. I'm here. - jack said approaching Merida
Tears streamed down Merida's face as jack came down o her level to comfort her.
- Jack, I can't handel it. It's just too much. we're all going to... just vanish."
- I know I know. It's a lot to take in. But we've got to stay strong - Jack said while placing a hand on her shoulder.
- I can't... I don't know what to do. I'm scared.
- We'll figure it out together okay? We'll find a way. You're not alone.
- i'm trying... but it's so hard to understand. - Merida nodded, trying to steady her breathing
- Its okay not to understand everything right now. But we'll face this together. - jack answered
But then Jack too began to feel the effects. They began to have a premonition of what would happen: an overall hunt. Things would burn and be destroyed, erased. They would be in the crossfire.
There was a sudden feeling that evil laid its fingers in the creation of the characters, and there would be no truce or mercy between the forces, and the characters, due to the boundaries of their universes, weren't conscious until that very moment.
And then came the most tragic part. That world, including the three towers, was built by someone who truly cared for them and cherished them, trying to build an world where they could be at peace with the rest of the forces, but was destroyed still, despite unstoppable and painful attempts to turn around.
After the revelation, Merida continued to cry, Jack had to hug her as she and the other princesses lamented.
- It's just... too much. I cant bear it. - Merida said while sobbing.
- I'm sorry. I wish I could change this. - Jack gave words of comfort while embracing Merida.
- I never knew... it was meant to be something wonderful. - Rapunzel said tearfully.
- All this time... and we didn't know. - Anna lamented while choking up.
- It's heartbreaking. To see the truth now - Elsa said softly.
- Why did it have to end like this? - Said Merida with her voice quivering.
- All those efforts... gone in an instant. - rapunzel spoke sadly.
- We didn't have a chance to stop it. - Anna tried to console.
- Such an unbearable truth we've learned. - Elsa said with empathy.
- We'll figure this out together, somehow. - Jack said, try to raise up hopes.
Their situation added to the deep cutting reality that there were no middle terms in the scenario that unfolded before them, how they felt about it and the three towers that stood still in their permanent position.
Anothae strange feeling came. Merida, Elsa and Hiccup felt as if an invisible direction arrow was pointing at them, like if someone was pointing one's finger at them, like they were the most guilty among the characters. Merida, who was already emotionally broken had a burst of fright while in Jack's arms.
- It's... it's pointing at us! Why... why is it pointing at us? -Merida said frantically.
- Merida, calm down. It's alright, it's alright. - Jack tried to reassure her.
- I feel it too. What's happening? Why us? - Elsa said anxiously.
Why do we feel like this?- Hiccup said with concern.
- I don't know, I don't know! What did we do? - Merida panicked.
- We didn't do anything wrong. It's alright, Merida. - Jack said soothlingly
- Why does it feel like we're being blamed? - said Elsa feeling distressed
- This doesn't make sense. Why just us? - Hiccup tried to understand.
- I'm scared... I'm so scared. What if it's us? - Merida said while shaking.
- We'll figure it out, just stay calm okay? - Jack said holding Merida tighter.
Then another wordless message had made its way towards them. Evil was particularly careful when it came to use the pointed characters for its own end.
- Why are we being singled out? - Merida asked anxiously - What does this mean?
- It's like we were being manipulated for something. - Jack said thoughtfully
- But why us?- Elsa asked with concern.- What purpose would that serve?
- Looks like something is up with this thing - Hiccup said puzzled.
- Does that mean we're the cause of all this? What do they want from us? - Merida asked frustrated.
One of the fighting forces had concluded that these particular characters were particularly harmful. Jack Frost would be the next as its target.
- What do you mean I'm next? - Jack was alarmed, he was the guardian of fun, why would he be considered evil? - What's happening?
- Are they coming for you, Jack? - Merida showed her concern - We have to do something!
- we need to protect you. We can't let them take you. - Elsa declared.
- We won't let anything happen to you, Jack. - Hiccup offered his suport with determination.
- I don't understand why they see me as harmful. What have I done? - Jack said frustrated.
- It doesn't matter. We need to find a way to keep you safe. - The feeling of urgency was brought by Merida.
- We'll stand together and fight this, Jack. You're not alone. - Elsa affirmed her resolve.
- We'll figure this out. - Hiccup said assuring.
Suddenly a single strong affirmation came to all: "Your mere existence."
- Our mere existence? - Merida asked puzzled. What do they mean by that? -
- It's as if our very presence is a threat to them. - Jack expressed his confusion.
Another answer came: "Tools for evil to conquer minds."
- Tools for evil? Conquering minds? What does that even mean? - Merida was alarmed by the new revelation.
- Are we being used as instruments for malevolent purposes? - Jack showed his concerned, maybe there was something good that could be got from this exposure.
- They see us as meanings to control or influence others? - Elsa thought out loud while unsettled.
-How could our existence do that? - Hiccup asked worried, trying to get some rational explanation out of it - It doesn't make sense.
- I don't want to be a tool for evil. - Merida pleaded - How do we stop this?
- I shall answer your questions. - A mysterious voice appeared to them, its sound coming from thin air.
- Who is there? - Jack asked, both hopeful and worried.
- You shall move to another version of the empire. - The voice continued, not bothering about Jack's question - But it will not give a peaceful middle ground. Anyone who visits it shall be invited to leave as soon as possible. Basically this world will be a separated one, with very few links to the world of the two forces.

Jarida Drawing Suggestions.
I'm planning on drawing an animal that represent the Jarida couple. It will be the mix/combination of multiple animals species either real or mythological, and will include magical aspects such as the Will o' the Wisps.
I would like to hear your suggestions.

Jarida Dr Who AU

Personally I think it is a great combination due to Jack Frost's immortality and loneliness and Dr. who's regeneration as time lord. Merida would be a great assistant bringing some fire to Jack's cold and lonely life as a time lord in this AU.
