It’s been years now since I posted here. To be honest, I haven’t been reading or writing anything for some time. My physical health has been very poor, and I am now taking care of my elderly parents as well. My creative mind was eaten alive by life.

While I adore every moment of this scene, one of my favorite parts is that Magnus is kind of pissy about not being able to stop thinking about Alec. So sassy, our warlock.

Magnus, I’m sorry.

This dynamic between them is fascinating, considering their respective experiences. It says a lot about their characters. I think Alec is brand new to all of this, and Magnus is EVERYTHING in that first love (FOREVER!!!!) kind of way, so he would rather shore up his Shadowhunter courage and MOVE than lose it.

Magnus is very, very, VERY old, and he has been ripped apart more than once by love and rejection. He has real fears about how deeply he feels for Alec, but he DOES feel more for him than he has for anyone. He’s afraid for himself, but I think on some levels, he holds back from Alec (especially in the very beginning) because Alec IS new to all of this, and Magnus, as he said in 2x01, knows he can be a little much to some people. He doesn’t want to scare Alec away, which he proved again in 2x15, when he hesitated so long to tell Alec his worst memory. He though he was ugly because of what happened with his family, because of what he’d done, and he was terrified Alec would walk away because of it. 

But together, they are finding their way and OMG I AM SUCH A FANGIRL.

Alec taking a deep breath to gather his strength and then turning around (or not) to choose Magnus. Proof that he wants this. He really really really wants this (Requested by anon. So sorry it took me a while to make this. This work week was a real bitch)

I have always been fascinated with characters and how writers/designers/etc express who they are through various things like speech patterns, physical tics, and yes, wardrobe. I won’t lie -- I was a freak for Magnus’ S1 wardrobe. The flash, the glitter. I miss it. BUT this article does give an interesting piece of food for thought: that Magnus hides behind the fabulousness. That the more he doesn’t want to expose himself or his true feelings, the more he jazzes things up.

I’m not sure I agree, but it is certainly a great explanation for the sudden change from S1′s more gender-bending, queer flash and the dour, mostly black/dark in season 2. I hope they can find a happy medium. Although whether flashy or not, our High Warlock of Fashion is ON POINT.

Week-to-week, our favorite Shadowhunters characters kick butt, drop amazing one-liners, give us serious cases of the feels and manage to look amazing while doing it all. But did you know the clothing they wear speaks volumes about their personalities? Here is a breakdown of some of the hidden meanings that can be garnered among all of the zippers, leather and (in some cases) bedazzlement that we see our characters wear on the show.

Sarah is lovely, and the design they used for this role was stunning. THE SEELIE QUEEN IS STILL A conniving, treacherous, HOMEWRECKING BITCA (tm Xander Harris).

I’m just getting to know Tumblr (Thanks @ronsalon!), and I adore that they flash up random posts -- I get to see users’ work I might never otherwise. This piece is everything! It’s like this person knows me. Even though I can’t actually skateboard.

Of course, it goes without saying that I adore Harry, but I am REALLY going to miss Alan. He’s a fantastic actor, and a wonderful guy. I plan on following his career wherever he goes.
