Hani (@dawoudi) has not eating anything for 7 days. For 7 days he has consumed 0 kcal/day. He and his wife are not eating just so their children can eat. He told me that he enjoys seeing his kids eating more. He told me he has lost a lot of weight. I am really worried.

I have been messaging with Hani since last October. I sincerely think that he is one the kindest and most selfless person I have ever had the honour of knowing. Despite his own struggles, Hani founded and has been continuously running @/gazavetters. Surviving a genocide is difficult and stressful, to say the very least. What you can see online is just the tip of the iceberg. Everything Hani told me in private just made me admire him more. I woke up to my little brother crying not from fear, but from the pain of hunger. No bread. No rice. Not even crumbs. I searched the house and only found half an onion. I washed it and split it between my siblings. I just watched them eat… like it was a feast.

My mom is sick and there's no medicine. Every day without food makes her worse. A neighbor just buried his daughter she died from starvation. They wrapped her in an old blanket.

This isn’t history. This is now. This is Gaza.

“Gaza is Starving — and We Are Among Its Last Breaths.”

For who don’t know me I’m a mother from Gaza. I never imagined I’d write something like this — but when hunger replaces every sound, and fear becomes your daily breath, you find yourself crying out to the world, hoping someone will hear.

Since the war began, our lives have been reduced to rubble.The air is filled with smoke, the streets with destruction, and our homes with silence — the silence of empty plates and crying children.

We are living through a real famine.

This is not an exaggeration. This is not politics.

This is hunger — raw, brutal, and endless.

My children cry all night from hunger. Their little bodies have grown thin, weak, and lifeless. Their eyes have lost their sparkle, and their voices fade a little more each day.

My husband — once our rock — now collapses from exhaustion and malnutrition. We fall to the ground, not from bombs, but from empty stomachs.

Even when food exists, prices are beyond anyone’s reach.

A piece of bread is a dream. A can of tuna costs more than a week’s wages — if there is any work at all.

The war has destroyed everything: our homes, our lives, our dignity — and now it’s taking our ability to survive

The starvation in the Strip has reached unimaginable levels. Little to no aid is getting to the people, and going to aid centers often means risking being shot by occupation soldiers. Food from other places, when it can be found, is unbelievably expensive.

Every $100 is now worth only $60, but prices keep rising, making it harder and harder to put any food on the table.

But hunger is only part of the nightmare. The bombing never stops. Every day, the skies fill with the sound of explosions. We live in constant fear, never knowing when the next strike will hit. The rubble piles up, and so does the pain.

We are not just starving we are trapped in danger, in fear, in a world that seems to have forgotten us.
