Backstory and Timeline of Callie ‘Binary’ Danks

⚠️ Trigger warning before reading: mentions of death, bullying and slight mention of abuse including emotional and physical abuse in the family!! ⚠️

1st August 1984

Callie Georgina Danks is born to Lt David Danks and his wife and Kylie Danks, however there were complications during the childbirth with Callie’s mother and unfortunately Kylie’s mother dies a few days later.

4th August 1984

Kylie Danks dies due to complications with her delivery of her daughter and David is left to take care of Callie. However due to his daughter’s birth being the cause of his wife’s death, David Danks resents his daughter and Callie grows up having to live with a father who hates her.

8th September 1988

Despite being neglected by her father, she is taken to the bar where Nick and Pete go frequently and this is where she meets Nick’s son Bradley for the first time. The two become fast friends and Pete takes a liking to her, becoming like a father figure to her.

Between 1989-1990

She hangs out with Pete, Nick and of course Bradley more often, though somewhere between this time, unfortunately Nick dies in a plane accident while flying with Pete. While Bradley loses his father, she doesn’t quite understand what has happened since she is so young but the two continue to grow close.

10th October 1992

As she goes on to continually hang out with Pete a lot more than her own father, her own father passes her off to Pete a lot of the time knowing he can ‘deal’ with her so he doesn’t, this is where she sees Pete fly for the first time. This is where at 8 years old she decided she wanted to be a pilot.

January 1994

She starts looking into how she can be a navy pilot herself, she starts training and studying on how to be one, unfortunately due to laws she finds out she is not able to be in navy as they do not let women in to fly planes.

Her father also refuses as he believes she’d never be a good pilot because of her being a girl and she “doesn’t know anything about the real threat” yet at ten years old, having to grow up quickly due to her fathers, emotional, mental, verbal and at times ( when drunk ) physical abuse, she had to learn how to take care of herself. He does not realise that she does know a lot about the “real threat” and she knows it doesn’t just include the enemy but sometimes it includes those who are meant to love you.

Unfortunately by this time Callie and Bradley have started to grow apart for several reasons and have not seen each other in.

January 2000

She continues to work to try and make it into the navy, unfortunately, it does not work, so she studies until they finally let her back in. At this time she was sent to live with her mother’s brother because of the neglect her father had been showing her especially lately and she lives there until she is twenty years old.

July 2004 -September 2006

Callie is finally let into the navy at twenty years old and trains for some time until she gets into the top gun academy where she once again crosses paths with Bradley Bradshaw and it is like they never left each other being as close as they were when they were ten and twelve years old.

September- December 2006

Callie trains at the academy and soon earns the call sign ‘Binary’ simply because as she flies the plane it is as though there are two pilots within the plane and she flies with a partner behind her, but in reality she has the skill of a two person plane while flying. She graduates the academy alongside “Rooster” aka Bradley Bradshaw and is one of the best because of her skills.

During this time, she has an on again, off again relationship with Bradshaw and became extremely close once again, although she also soon fell in love with another woman during that time. Despite this happening as she had been in love with Bradley since she was about ten years old, the time with her girlfriend did not last because she couldn’t love her the way she deserved and eventually broke it off. She never told Bradley how she felt all those years ago or even when they hooked up during that time.

December 2010

Four years after graduating the academy and becoming one of the best pilots and not only one of the best female pilots, she was in a very bad plane accident where like what happened to Maverick and Nick, she lost control of the plane and crashed, leaving her on the brink of death. This plane crash caused her to lose her memory of the academy and while she remembered Bradley, because of her memory loss believed she hadn’t seen him in over 20 years.

2011-2019

Between this time, when she has no memory of being in the navy ( despite actually still having the skill to fly since she remembers the techniques somehow and because of muscle memory she remembers ) or being at the academy, she gets a golden retriever puppy and a German shepherd puppy, both rescues whose names are Goose and Rooster as well as a kitten ( who acts as though he is a dog and is the dogs best friend and again is a rescue ) called Moose and ends up working in an office job where she ends up being quite high up within in the job, despite her actually being more qualified to be one of the heads in the office job due to the accident she isn’t able to achieve it until late 2018 and even when she does finally get the promotion she does not get paid as much as her male colleague for doing the same job.

Late 2019

She is contacted by Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell whom she hasn’t seen in years, she then ends up meeting up with him to ‘catch up’ with the real man who raised her.

Early 2020

She is then called by the heads in charge of Top Gun to be part of a mission that is dangerous, this is when she once again meets up with Maverick and during this discussion it kickstarts her memory and she starts remembering everything that she had forgotten in the last ten years.

This is when Top Gun Maverick takes place ( most likely ) and everything that the rest of the team go through, she goes through as well.

Also during this time, during the training for the mission at hand, unfortunately she is involved in yet another accident though she does not lose her memory again, it is still very much a dangerous accident as she almost dies, but luckily she survives.

“I’ll carry you the rest of the way.”

“You could hardly stand!”

“Don’t think I won’t make you go to bed. Try me.”

“Looks like I caught you at a bad time.”

“You’re so stubborn, quit squirming I’m trying to help!”

“Your hands are shaking. You need to stop.”

“You don’t get enough sleep, do you?”

“You’re practically nodding off.”

“Hey, you just passed out. Are you okay?”

“We can nap together, ok? We’ll be nap buddies.”

“I’m crawling under the covers with you, alright? Just rest.”

“You burned your energy out in the snow, you’re shivering badly.”

“This hot weather is affecting you more than you think, you look like you’re gonna pass out.”

i normally dont involve myself in things like this tm, but i really have to say… people are truly out here complaining about the ‘support female muses’ post by saying its alienating to trans etc. this is not being inclusive the way you think it is. this is doing the opposite of that. cis female muses, esp ocs, are the least popular of all muses. by saying it’s offensive to say ‘i support female muses’ to everyone else, you’re just perpetuating the cycle of not supporting cis female muses and promoting exclusion within the writing community. 

i support all kinds of muses, but i will also specifically say that i support female muses and i will also say i support trans muses.

it’s important in this day of  “including” and “supporting” everyone that we don’t forget to actually include and support everyone. 

just because i say ‘i support female muses’ does not mean i don’t support any other kind of muse. there are people out there who do NOT support female muses, cis or trans or what have you. by saying you support one thing it does not mean you don’t support another as well. it’s important to remember that. true equality and inclusion is not this.
