it's so funny to see Twilight, a trained spy to be unable to comprehend what his 4 years old adoptive daughter means by "dad, you are lame."

I'm all for the laughs but I think the major reason for that is probably the fact that adults don't share their real feelings, ever. Adults tend to hide their feelings away or say them in a way that only a very observant person can understand what is beneath all the lies and vague wordings. But a four year old girl has not yet learned the manipulation tactics that Twilight is so used to decoding and thus leads to him putting way too much thought into little things she says.
