Gosh, I'm so happy someone asked XD This is giving me a lot of the motivation I needed to start writing again since I haven't done that consistently in so long X) forgive me for taking so long to answer this, I saw it when I woke up and I've been thinking carefully about what to put and how to put it ! As I said in the tags of the previous post I did want him to fit in more with the 80s cartoon and older comics, though he could be in any Smurf media of course , that parts not important though, just my personal thoughts ^^

Batty is quite mellow and laid-back for the most part but he can get easily irritated if he is disturbed when he wants to be left alone. He will confront whoever it is and very sternly tell them to keep it down, he likes the quiet as his ears are sensitive and the cave echoes. He is still friendly once he gets to know someone! Just a bit awkward at times in the eyes of others and sarcastic or mean other times though not on purpose. He just likes time to himself too, and uninterrupted sleep during the day as they're nocturnal xd He is probably closest with brainy as well, the others in the cave are not as talkative with each other as the regular smurfs are.

The rest of the cave smurfs is something I need to figure out (one would definitely be snake like and another would be like a moth I just need to figure out how to draw them), but I know they'd all be a bit different. One thing about them is they speak English(or any language the story is set in—like how smurfs are also french and whatnot), Smurf language (of course) and squeaks/chittering similar to how Wild would talk. That one is used more commonly amongst themselves and other animals. Another thing is they dont have genders, it's not something they're exactly familiar with but they express themselves however and use whatever pronouns theyd like. They live in hollowed out rocks and smaller versions of these formations—makes it easier to hide if anyone that has a taste for smurfs ends up in the cave as the cave itself isn't hidden like Smurf Village is. There are lots of shiny rocks and bioluminescent mushrooms to light up the place for them but not too much to bother their sensitive eyes.

I did explain a bit of the story in the last post, and I've started chapter one of it. I need to rewatch a few episodes to get more into character xd but if I get to finishing it I'll share it!

Buuuut I will talk about Batty and Brainy's relationship! Because it's something I like 🫶

When Brainy meets Batty in the cave, he is already (though slightly intimidated by the fangs and sharp claws) asking a million questions a minute once he takes note of Batty's unique features. (Internally he does wonder if it's a weresmurf type of thing—where getting scratched by a weird plant turned them that way but he doesn't ask. The answer is they just come into the world like that, though.) They're flattered they suppose, yes, but this isn't a good spot for Brainy to get so excited, and he's also confused why they are so..Blue. (Cave smurfs are typically grayer/darker or desaturated colors—it helps with blending in as well) Luckily, the sun is setting already and any other smurfs that were there had gotten what they needed, no thanks to Brainy being bossy as usual on the way there, then getting a bit scared as they ventured deeper and immediately getting distracted by the bat smurfs presence. He had no idea about any of this—none of the books he'd read even mentioned these type of smurfs! Batty is okay with leading the smurfs out and answering everyone's questions—he doesn't care too much honestly, and he wants to find some berries to eat anyways. He has questions for them too, just less...nosy. Reluctantly, Batty accepts an invitation to visit the village during the night. He doesn't have much else to do! Brainy complains along the way about the long walk and Batty rolls his eyes.

I won't give much detail after because I'm saving that for other posts and the fic—But Batty does visit other times after meeting everyone and comes by during night time if he needs help from them or if he just wants to wander around, he's more than welcome to do so and he rather likes it. He usually goes over to Brainy to at least say hello. If Batty stays over, he'll let brainy sleep while he sits and reads some of the quotations . He finds it endearing how much of it is nonsense and Brainy believes its peak literature. Batty does leave again before sunrise though.

Brainy does form some affection for him after being friends for a long while, though Batty is oblivious and Brainy would never admit it to even himself....I just can't resist a tiny bit of romance or queerplatonicness .. But it gets to when Brainy starts looking forward to those visits and accidentally stays up very late once or twice in anticipation, even writing a whole new book of quotations for Batty to keep. This is when Batty starts to visit more frequently too, he's quietly appreciative that someone likes his company, and Brainy feels the same. It's nice to not be kicked away for rambling a bit too much. Batty does tell him when to keep his ego in check though, and he gets embarrassed about it.

Sooo i was gonna wait till I finished everything to post him but unfortunately won't happen for a bit T_T but I really really wanna show people soooo This is a smurfs oc I made his name is Batty ^_^ he/they

(second photo is just for a better look at his wing—im still practicing the style while attempting to mix it with my own so there's a bit of struggle making things looks right DX which is also why it's cropped . If I redraw it ill post)

Thought of him after I saw this thing while exploring a cave back in March heehee cool right 🫶 n the brainy weresmurf episode gave me ideas (i have an au about that episode too thats kinda connected but that's for another timee)

I don't really know what his deal is , maybe a subspecies of smurfs that live in smaller versions of these .... I remember doodling different kinds of these smurfs when I first came up with the idea but I've never drawn or thought about any of them again except Batty he was just my fav xd

I had a story in my head (that I may turn into a fic or just explain in detail in another post once I work out little details if anyone's interested ^^" I still wanna post more about him) basic premise was some smurfs in a cave farther away from the village to get an ingredient or papa smurf maybe—and then the formations catch brainys eye (i was thinking it wouldnt make as much sense for him to be there too but i feel like he'd want to help . And papa smurf sent him with whoever else went because brainy ... Was being brainy ) (also I gave him a thing with batty he just has to be there to start it bro) the cave smurfs would be hiding since they don't like to be disturbed/are sleeping but ehem Someone trips over a rock and batty gets annoyed and goes to see what's going on . And they're all like Woah . What are YOU!!!!! youre a WEIIIIRRRDDD looking Smurf . blablabla but despite being skeptical soon batty is buddies with them and even offers 2 go to the village sometime when the sun is down.....He's tired

Random pieces of an unfinished comic I was making a week ago a where Batty visits the village during the day (he usually comes by at night if he does at all) and since his vision is already bad being partly bat and all the sunlight made it worse, brainy brings him to a more comfortable place and lends him his glasses 😌 I gotta doodle him w his own style,,,i have ideas but I gotta research a little again😋

Okay, we all know that Bang is super strong for some reason, right? Like carrying his whole team on his back in the Flush episode, lifting a huge heavy laundry detergent box with ease, and all the other stuff he can do.

But then I was rewatching this scene from the "Why do we look different?" episode where the gang is running, or well rolling, towards Bing to save him in time and dude... LOOK HOW FAST THE BACKGROUND IS MOVING WHEN BANG'S IN THE LEAD. LIKE WHAT. HE IS ZOOMING. You can even see him having to skit to abrupt halt when he gets there first meanwhile the others slowly lost momentum when they stopped.

Like for a chill and easy going guy who likes to go slow and stuff, you wouldn't think he could just zoom like that. But he can and this means he's faster than the others, well minus Bing as he's undoubtedly the fastest, but still, that is bonkers.

This is super cool to think about tho because like this just shows how despite having all this physical capability like strength and speed, he just chooses to be laid back and relaxed since that's who he is as a person. He's just reserving that energy for when he really needs it like helping his friends in need.

Another side tangent here, but I also just now noticed in this scene in the Flowers episode, you can see the gang visibly struggle to pull her up while Bang is not making a face or doing actual strenuous effort at first. But only then when Bang puts in more effort, more than he was already doing, he visibly struggles too like the rest of them and then finally they pull Bo up. So like this again shows how easy strength comes to him, as he doesn't struggle to in the same effort as the other guys since he's just naturally stronger, its only when he needed to exert himself even more that he visibly struggles. Sorry if it took a while to word it right, but hopefully you know what I mean.

So yeah anyways, bro is strong. And fast if he needs to be. He's just so fascinating to me. Well obviously since he's my favorite character and I hyper fixate on him a lot but yeah. End of post :P
