Preferences: Cuddling

As always, I am willing to add characters to a list if they are requested. Just speak up.

James Ironwood is the big spoon and he will not budge on this. He wants to hold you (and protect you and keep you safe but he’s not going to mention that during a cuddle). Likes to wrap his arms around your middle so he doesn’t “lose” you. He can actually be a little smothering, to be honest, but he can also make you feel very safe and cared for. He’s also a big fan of having you on his lap, if he can manage it.

Ozpin usually just relaxes against you, probably with one arm around you. He’s more of a casual cuddler than anything else, enjoying the close contact but not getting too tangled up. But when you’re both settled in for the evening and neither of you have to worry about work or interruptions, he enjoys cuddling up close to you and letting you rest against him. He also tends to kiss while he cuddles, mostly your neck or forehead.

Qrow melts against you. This is not a human being, this is not a bird, this is a man in liquid form. He is almost always up for cuddles. Seriously, almost always. He can be teaching a lesson and you can just crawl right onto his chair with him and he will continue teaching while he cuddles you. He flops down on top of you when he’s in a playful mood. He prefers to cuddle from the top, if that makes sense? He wants to be held. He likes to rest his head on your chest, too. Cuddling usually leads to him falling asleep, which you can’t mind because it’s adorable.

Oobleck really, really wants to cuddle but also gets a little antsy before he settles in, so he can’t just let the cuddling happen. He has to adjust and readjust and ask you if you need anything and run to go grab a blanket. But when he finally does settle in, he wants to talk. He doesn’t care if you’re holding him or if he’s holding you. He wants to talk. Not because he can’t shut up, but because he always has something he’s learned that he thinks you’ll like to hear about. And he really does tell great stories, so it’s not like you’re just humoring him. He’s an attentive cuddler, though. He always makes sure that you’re comfortable and enjoying yourself.

Roman has no chill. He sprawls over you like the drama queen he is and demands you pay attention to him. He also has trouble making up his mind about whether to spoon you or let you spoon him because he wants both and he can’t decide. He likes it when you play with his hair (you’d think he’d be protective of his immaculate fringe, but nope, not with you), and he likes to kiss you on the nose. Or anywhere on the face that isn’t your lips, because he’s a tease. But you gotta be careful with Roman, because he bites (he insists that it’s a love-nibble).

Mercury is a handsy, pushy, sit-down-or-I’ll-make-you-sit-down cuddler who has absolutely no problem with grabbing you and pulling you in for a cuddle whether you really want to or not. It’s kind of frustrating. Cuddling with him is kind of like a fight. He wants to be in charge and you want to remind him that he doesn’t get to be in charge all of the time. But Merc’s not out to make you unhappy - if you’re still tetchy about the situation after a few minutes, he’ll submit to whatever you want or let you go. You just have to hassle with him a little bit first.

poly-jnpr headcanons!!!

Nora is an early riser, and wakes everyone else up with excited forehead kisses

They’re known to giggle together in class, leading to all get separated, which only makes it worse because Nora just pulls silly faces at all of them from across the room

Ren and Pyrrha both have the voice of an angel and are known to sing traditional Mistrali folk songs and lullaby’s together

Jaune is in charge of doing everyone’s hair in the mornings

Playing with hair in general is just known to be a JNPR thing

Pyrrha has accidentally bent the shower head multiple times

Nora has purposely bent the shower head more than multiple times

Because Ren and Nora grew up with no family, they are overwhelmed at first when meeting Jaune’s family at first, because he just has so many god damn sisters

All of his sisters adore Ren, Nora and Pyrrha

Nora likes to be big spoon even though she’s tiny compared to the rest of her team mates

Study sessions often turn into group cuddle sessions

At some point the dorm just turns into a giant blanket fort

Complete with fairy lights, ofc

Basically team JNPR are all happy and in love and no one dies and nothing sad happens

Ren Gives the Best Hugs

I like to think that Ren’s semblance never quite turns off.

Nora loves to be near him/resting against him/hugging him/holding his hand. Any kid of contact really. She especially loves when he is trying to meditate in front of the couch and she comes and wraps her arms around his neck and rests her chin on his head. She’s noticed that for as long as she’s known him, everything becomes much clearer when they are together. Her mind slows down and her loud, intrusive thoughts become a whisper. She is able to put her worries and racing thoughts away and everything becomes much less fuzzy. She hates letting go because she knows that they will come rushing back.

Jaune, unlike Nora, isn’t conscious of the effects of being around Ren. Sometimes, when Ren looks sad, Jaune just opens up his arms and Ren buries his face in Jaune’s neck. Jaune’s breathing slows as he hold Ren close and plays with his hair. Jaune’s world feels a little lighter. He stops running plans over and over in his head and his heart feels a little more whole. He lets go of a little bit of the guilt he feels for failing his friends in the past, and realizes how lucky he is to have his team right now. Neither of them ever want to let go.

Pyrrha regrets not getting to know Ren better. She saw his talent and fighting skills, but she was too distracted to fully see him for who he really was. Once, when they were sparing, she knocked him off his feet. While celebrating her victory, he swung his leg out and tripped her and she fell over on him. They laughed and looked up at the sky as they caught their breath, her head resting on his arm. Pyrrha felt a her heart rate slow and the adrenaline wash away. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Not exactly a hug, but it was close enough for her. At that moment, she realized how thankful she was to have her teammates at her side.

Poly JNPR headcanons part 2

Considering how well the first one did, (150 notes as of the time of this post, THANK YOU) I’ve decided to create this sequel! Please read the note at the bottom when you’re done.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All of the following head canons diverge from the main canon and are to be assumed to have happened just at the beginning of Team JNPR’s third year at Beacon unless explicitly stated otherwise.

1.)Team JNPR’s sleeping arrangement started out a little haphazardly, at least for Jaune. That first morning at Beacon he was a little bit more than awestruck at the sight he woke up to. Having kicked off the covers in her sleep, Pyrhha laid in the bed next to his clad only in her panties and a very thin nightshirt, just barely covering her modesty as she stretched . Jaune fervently turned away from her form only to see his other (just as beautiful) teammates in a similar state of undress. Jaune laid there, his blushing face firmly planted into his pillow, until he was sure they’d woken up and dressed themselves. The arrangement stayed as such until the beds were pushed together following the group-relationships founding.

2.) The rest of JNPR were fooled into believing their blond boyfriend woke up the latest because of this. And as such were quite shocked to find him to be an early riser, even more so than Nora or Pyrrha. In fact, after discovering this Jaune began to help each of his partners with their morning rituals, such as keeping up with Pyrrha on her morning jog. Helping Nora with her hair (you can’t tell me it isn’t a mess of curls when she wakes up), or the daunting task of literally dragging Ren out of bed to help him make breakfast. 

3.) Jaune is the only one Ren will allow to help in the kitchen, Nora once laminated it with the failed attempts of a smoothie and Pyrrha once set the sink on fire.That and Jaune is actually a pretty great assistant, seemingly psychic when getting Ren the things he needs before he even opens his mouth.

4.)When it comes to spooning, team JNPR doesn’t conform to the usual size formation. Like, occasionally Nora will be the big spoon or Jaune will be the little one, there really isn’t a set spooning arrangement (never thought I’d type that), but usually they just sleep in one big ol’ impromptu cuddle pile.

5.)(INSPIRED BY “ Bearing Fruit on a Juniper Tree”By Captain of the Seven Skies (Rikkamaru) ) Blake was the first one whom noticed the relationship. Just one day she smelt much more of team JNPR’s scent mingling than usual. It took Blake a good few days for her to speak to JNPR following her revelation.She just felt so dirty knowing about it before it went public. Pyrrha,being the most empathetic of her team, noticed immediately and quite literally cornered her in the library and demanded to know. She wasn’t quite prepared for her mumblings of “please don’t kill me” and “I know about your relationship”. But after much blushing, muttered “it’s okay’s”, and a good hug everything returned to normal.

6.) Pyrrha was the one whom really struggled with realizing her feelings;  just one day she mused of living a happy monogamous life with Jaune,but couldn’t help but feel like something was missing. She was fixated on it for days, days without sleep mind you. It wasn’t until they’d gone out to the local arcade, winning prizes for Nora, helping Ren with frustration over that stupid claw game did it finally hit her… “Oh dust, I’m in love with all three of them”.

7.) Nora was the first one to really start taking down walls on the road to their relationship. For example, one night Nora had decided Jaune’s onesie was officially hers on the grounds that it was winter and as the smallest member, she’d be the coldest. In actuality she’d wanted it for the comforting and reminding scent, what she didn’t expect to happen that night was for Jaune to gently shake her awake and say: “Hey um Nora, you were right about it being freezing and uh well since you, not me of course, might still be cold I was wondering if maybe we could uh… conserve body heat?”

“…”

“Are you asking to cuddle?’ she asked

“Yeah… I guess” he replied rubbing the back of his neck

“Oh o-okay’ she said equally blushing as she lifted the covers, quietly hoping he’d move in close. Her hopes were realized as he decided to drop the awkwardness and deal with the cold… by holding her close. Nora thought about how perfectly her head fit in the crook of his neck as she succumbed to sleep.

Poly JNPR Headcanons!

Yeah, yeah I know I have this rebloogged on another post; but got dam it, I wanna have it independent

Ren loves to be carried, though he can’t help but be embarrassed by it

Despite Pyrrhas badassery, horror movies are practically banned on movie night (waaaay too many times has silverware been sent flying into team RWBY’s dorm)

Jaune has learned every spot his partners love (Nora’s stomach and biceps, Pyrrha’s shoulders and back of her neck, and the small of Ren’s back and hands)

Nora will blush for every single compliment thrown her way. While all her partners find this adorable, Pyrrha especially finds it cute.

The beds in their dorm are pushed together after they realize two of the beds havent been sleeped in for bout a month

After the beds are pushed together, Jaune realizes they only need two. So after he throws those two out he uses the extra space for a couch and tv.

Nora can’t swim at all (“No-one taught me!”), so one weekend her partners take her to Beacon’s pool (bonus headcanon: Beacon has a pool) to learn.

After much argument, Jaune puts his hands atop her shoulders and almost screams “LOOK, I know you’re strong but you can’t fight off DROWNING!”. Nora immediately concedes.

They start swimming lessons with Nora latching onto Pyrrha’s back as she walks from either end of the shallow side of the pool

Jaune is the life guard and that. Is. FINAL. (Leaders orders)

Renorarc thoughts

Much to my own surprise, due to the fact that OT3s aren’t usually my thing, I’ve started shipping Renorarc over the course of the last two volumes. Although I still think Nora and Jaune haven’t gotten enough non-jokey character interactions, and that Renora itself is obviously the writer’s end game, I couldn’t help but lowkey ship Martial Arcs (due to Ren and Jaune’s bromance) while I highkey shipped Renora. 

Then one night, as I tried to figure out which ship I actually liked more, a thought occurred…

I mean, why not? They all clearly care about each other and are all adorable.

LOOK AT HOW PRECIOUS THEY ARE

So like, now I’m imagining a bunch of headcanons for them as a poly relationship and it’s all adorable.

FIRST OF ALL, Jaune and Nora probably wouldn’t actually be all that interested in each other on a romantic level. In a poly relationship with Ren their interactions towards each other would be supportive and silly but I think they wouldn’t feel any express need to do romantic things with each other. Regardless they’d probably still say the other is their “boyfriend” and “girlfriend.”

Their designations goes as followed: Ren is “boyfriend,” Nora is “girlfriend” and Jaune is “tall boyfriend.”

Nora picking on Jaune, and Jaune making rather dark jokes about himself would be a constant, much to Ren’s distress.

Ren and Nora would probably get into the habit of sitting in Jaune’s lap, because he’s a tall boy and has a big lap.  

Nora can dead lift both of them but since she’s so short, Jaune’s so tall, and Ren is average in height, her boys’ legs just drag as she carries them around.

When Nora gets too intense for Ren over something she automatically becomes Jaune’s responsibility until she calms down enough for him. (Because, no, Ren would not like to go ride an Ursa at one in the morning thank you very much.)

Jaune: (Trying to sleep) Your girlfriend is playing the drums too loud again. Make her stop.

Ren: (Also trying to sleep) If it’s before sunrise she’s your girlfriend. 

Jaune: (Groans and rolls out of bed to go ask her to stop, failing to realize it was all Nora’s ploy to get someone to make her breakfast)

Both Jaune and Nora love Ren’s cooking… except when he gets on one of his health kicks. When this happens they work together to prevent him from cooking at all costs.

They do three way tangos and make everyone jealous.

Nora: “Hi! This is my boyfriend, Ren, and my taller boyfriend, Jaune!” (both wave) 

Jaune: Mom, I want you to meet my boyfriend, Ren.

Ren: It is a pleasure to meet you.

Jaune’s Mom: “Boyfriend?” Well I never took you for being bi but if he makes you ha–

Jaune: (Moves out of the way to reveal Nora, who he’d been blocking by accident) Oh! And this is our girlfriend, Nora.

Nora: Do I get to call you “mom” now?

Jaune’s Mom: (Confused)

Ren: One time some guy tried to mug me, which I could have handled myself. However, before I could even try to fight him I was slung over my boyfriend’s shoulder, being carried away,  while our girlfriend smashed her giant grenade launching hammer into the guy’s crotch. It was honestly one of the best moments of my life.

They all cuddle constantly.

Since Ren and Nora are both shorter than Jaune they can just cling to him and have him wrap his coats/jackets around them to keep them warm. 

They’re all super supportive of each other and just want to make the other two happy.

When one of the others is upset they offer their own brands of support which compliments each other’s efforts.

When Jaune and Ren meditate together Nora will use their laps as pillows.

They go on the cheesiest dates possible.

Due to Jaune’s height people first meeting the trio will think he’s the one they’ll have to worry about if they wrong the three of them but really it’s Nora they should be worried about. Jaune’s just a red herring, Nora’s the real threat. 

They’re all highkey protective of each other and act like drama queens over each other’s safety.

Someone tries to grope Nora and before she even notices what’s about to happen Jaune’s already bashed the offender over the top of the head with his shield. 

Someone gets up in Ren’s personal space and makes him uncomfortable and Nora puts herself between them and threatens to break the offender’s legs if they don’t leave him alone.

Someone bashes Jaune and says something that triggers his self-loathing complex and Ren is there in an instant getting in the offenders face and calmly (but with clearly barely restrained rage) tells the offender to never show his face around them ever again. 

They treat Oscar like their child.

Picking on each other over public displays of affection.

Jaune and Ren: (Kiss each other) | Nora: (From the couch) Ha! GAAAY!

Nora and Ren: (Intense cuddling) | Jaune: Take it to the bedroom! Preferably with me in it!

Nora and Jaune: (Kicking at each other as they share the backseat with big smiles on their faces) | Ren: (Sleep deprived from driving so long but refuses to let the other two drive for the safety of everyone in the world)  If you guys don’t start acting your ages– | Nora: What? Are you going to come back here and give us both a spanking? | Jaune: (Makes a goofy face at the rear view mirror)

They can all easily goad each other into doing stupid shit by using puppy dog eyes. Ren is the most frequent victim. 

Nora playing with both her bf’s hair because they both have hair that’s quite a bit longer than hers. (Especially Ren’s) 

Ren gets sick and is in bed for like two days straight. Once he gets better the three of them end up spending like 30 minutes to a whole hour trying to get the tangles out because his hair is that long.  

Just the idea of Jaune and Nora brushing Ren’s hair in general OK

They all show their affection in different ways.

Jaune does grand gestures like bringing them flowers or singing them songs.

Nora is just a constant barrage of smiles and hugs and leaping in their arms and bear hugging them off of the ground.

Ren does small, simple things that can go unnoticed by other people, like linking his pinkie with one of theirs. 

They go visit Pyhrra’s grave together every anniversary of Beacon’s downfall.

Why Jaune is awesome

Jaune Arc is a character who at least in my perception gets criticised more than anyone else on the show. The hate he gets by the fandom is something I noticed last year during Volume 4 and again during Volume 5. I think I know where a lot of his criticism comes from and want to explain why I love him anyway.

People often point out that Jaune is stealing screen time from the “actual” main characters of the show and that women get hurt to further his character development. While it is true that he got a rather long arc during Volume 1 that spread over several episodes, at least that point isn’t true at all when it comes to Volume 4 and Volume 5. And while it is true that Weiss got hurt to further his development (why that isn’t really a problem is a topic for another post) and in regards of Pyrrha that just isn’t true (also a topic for another post).

The reason why people still voice this criticism is not because the RWBY writers screwed up, but because countless other writers did. It’s not like Jaune actually stole screentime from our female main characters, but we expect him to do exactly that. It’s not that Pyrrha actually got fridged only to further his development, but we expect exactly that to happen.

Jaune is the type of character stories like RWBY are usually about. He is the underdog, the hero no one expects to be heroic, the boy who had less training and less chances than anyone else and still exceeds everyone’s expectations. The well-known Hero’s Journey is familiar to all of us and uses characters like Jaune all the time, just think about Luke Skywalker. They all start off less skilled than everyone around them and still save the day.

Jaune Arc sneaks his way into Beacon. He didn’t have the training everyone else had and he feels like he doesn’t belong there (because he doesn’t). We would expect him to get better and rise above everyone else, to become the strongest character on the show, because that’s what always happens. It’s clear that this is what Jaune expected too.

What makes Jaune interesting is that this doesn’t happen. Jaune has to realise that he is the weakest link of his team and he continuously struggles with that and is afraid of putting his team at danger. If Pyrrha hadn’t encouraged him and trained with him he probably would have left Beacon during his first semester. The writers aren’t just aware of how unrealistic those expectations are, they also let Jaune become aware of it, and that is a very interesting twist to that trope.

Throughout the story Jaune has to learn he isn’t the strongest fighter of his team, and he will probably never be the hero he wanted to be. He isn’t completely useless – he’s still a good strategist and leader, on top of that a good friend who gives Ruby the emotional support she needs in Volume 4. But he realises that he is nothing without his team, and later even puts their life over his when he confronts Cinder, inspired by Pyrrha’s sacrifice.

His semblance is the ultimate representation of that. It’s extremely useful as he’s able to amplify other people’s auras, saving Weiss in Volume 5 and probably being able to strengthen someone else’s semblance. But he didn’t heal Weiss, he helped her heal herself. His semblance is utterly useless when he’s on his own, only of help in combination with someone else.

I always felt like Jaune was a very interesting representation of toxic masculinity. To me it always seemed like he had internalised a lot of stereotypes of what men have to be – brave and strong heroes. And then he has to realise that he is the weakest link of his team, that he is the damsel in distress, a trope usually reserved for women. He can only grow beyond that because he realises he isn’t as strong as he wants to be, because he realises he has flaws and accepts the help of a woman who is more skilled than him.

Jaune Arc is an interesting and realistic turn on the trope of the underdog hero who exceeds everyone else – because he has to realise that he can’t. That’s what kept me watching during Volume 1 and it’s why I love Jaune Arc so much.

small and easy health tips that make a lot of difference

wash your face every night - washcloth, warm water, and a simple cleanser will do wonders. plus, warm water helps make you all sleepy for bed

take a multivitamin every day - and keep an eye open for coupons for them. usually multivitamins have some pretty great coupons

if you can, open the windows every once in a while. fresh air does a lot of good for your body (and state of mind)!

keep a few cleaning supplies in the bathroom. every so often after having a shower, give things a quick wipe-down. the steam from the shower dislodges any sink guck, making the job much easier - and never underestimate the power of a clean bathroom for both physical and mental health

keep a water bottle by the bed and drink some water when you wake up. it’ll help you greet the day a little easier, and plus - whose mouth ISN’T as dry as the sahara when they wake up?

it’s not always easy, but try to make doing dishes before turning in for the night a habit. i can’t express how lovely it is to wake up and walk into a clean and tidy kitchen

keep snacks in the fridge that are delicious and healthy - my faves are strawberries, cherry tomatoes, and grapes. i love snacks. plus, there’s not really much prep involved with those kinds of things

sweep! sweeping takes up a bit more physical energy, but it’s become one of my favourite things to do. i put on some nice music and visualize sweeping out not only dirt, but anything else clouding up my space - negative energy, self doubt, etc. it’s a nice, witchy little ritual for me now.

light a candle, specifically one that smells delicious

identify the things that make you feel better about yourself and your surroundings and prioritize them and only them when you’re feeling sucky. that way, you still feel accomplished, but you aren’t using up all your mental and physical energy trying to run through all your tasks/cleaning/etc

remember that you’re doing these things for you, and not anyone else. you deserve to feel happy and at ease!
