THE MOONLESS DEMO IS NOW AVAILABLE TO PLAY ON ITCH.IO!

You are one of the illune, a moonless guard tasked with the protection of the minds of the Royal Family of Spala, and now with the mysterious disappearances of an increasingly large amount of your people.

Set in a fantasy world inspired by ancient mediterranean civilizations, you play as an illune - a moonless mind guard - of the royal family. Unlike humans, moonless have no magical talents but the ability to walk the sleeping minds of others. It is something which historically has made the moonless outcasts of Spala’s society, but since gaining the trust and favor of both the royal family and the senate, things are changing for the better for your people.

Or they were, until moonless started disappearing under mysterious circumstances from the capital city Amelare.

Tasked by the royal family, with only rumors of the missing moonless suffering from strange dreams leading up to their disappearances, you and a small group of companions set out to find out why this is happening. But what will happen when the very same dreams begin to affect you? And what will you do when you discover a far bigger scheme than you could have ever imagined - and truths about the moonless people that will shake the realms to their cores?

DISCLAIMERS [and mild spoilers] UNDER THE CUT

The current version of the demo contains the first scene of the prologue and is just under 13k words in total. The Moonless is still a game in (very early) development and changes to the story might occur along the way.

The prologue takes place about a decade before the main game and thus Rainn is the only RO that will appear in-game at the moment as they have a previously established relationship with MC. Their relationship will remain unaffected by any choices you make in the prologue (so far, at least).

Plans for implementing a light mode and adding a dyslexic-friendly font are in progress, as well as adding custom artwork but I was unable to complete that in time because of procrastination and will hopefully be completed within the next week.

ABOUT

Twin Coves is a paranormal romance meets murder mystery themed visual novel currently under development. It features a customizable protagonist, 6 (possibly 9) male love interests who may or may not be human, and choices that could very well lead to an early grave if you’re not careful.

This game is rated MA-17 and includes discussions of death and grief, characters dealing with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD, references to and brief depictions of blood and violence, alcohol use, strong language, and content of a sexual nature.

Demo (Prologue) • Love Interests

Easy. Take your seat, flash a smile. You know fuck all about the right order of use of the forks and spoons and knives laid in front of you—it doesn’t matter, whatever, just follow la Zar’s lead and look pretty, because that’s what you’re here to do.

Breathe. Maddox leans in to whisper that in your ear, a gentle yet sharp reminder. Breathe; and you do, inhaling a subtle breath to fill your lungs that feel as though they are soon to collapse.

This is the easy part, or so Maddox had told you.

Sit, smile, eat. Leave everything to Maddox, nod along, play along. Don’t worry about anything else.

The intimate dining room feels suffocating, the only thing going round in your head the only one that shouldn’t, because fuck if it doesn’t make you dizzy and antsy and just all around ill at ease, and all these people—these politicians, doctors, the deputy fucking mayor of Adafield—with their hollow smiles and even emptier words just drive you further towards what you think is the edge of losing your mind.

They don’t know, you think as your gaze slides over the opposite side of the oaken table. They don’t have the faintest idea what is going to happen to them.

…Because you are what is going to happen to them.

REDSUGARSOCIETY is a fast-paced, romance-driven episodic 18+ interactive story in development where you join forces with a former crime lord gone good and the Deputy Mayor’s child, to put an end to the grand scheme of the corrupted elite in the city of Adafield, all the while trying to keep your co-worker slash babysitter breathing down your neck at bay.

One of them might die. Another might betray you. It is your choices that will determine what happens.

MC with semi-set personality and customizable appearance. The choices you make throughout the story will not directly affect the MC’s core personality, but you have the power to choose how to handle the arising situations.

Three (3) romanceable-for-all love interests. Turn your fake spouse with criminal tendencies into a real partner, find love under impossible circumstances with the kid of a politician, or make your babysitting co-worker worry about something entirely else than the success of your gig.

A handful of possible endings, including bad ones, all of them depending on the choices you make throughout.

Keep up the appearances with your partners in crime, all the while taking care of the Red Sugar Society on the down-low…

…but don’t forget to enjoy yourself, and all the finer things in life. You only get to infiltrate the rotten creme de la creme once in your life, after all.

TL;DR: Fake date. Fall in love. Murder. Party. Rinse and repeat.
