It does not surprise me that my very conservative boss who has written defenses of the confederate flag does not give us MLK day off. It does surprise me that my very military history obsessed boss does not give us veteran’s day off.
#in theory we're supposed to get all court holidays off#in practice he does what the fuck he wants#and is generally gross about it

for the tarot questions: the fool, the magician, and the emperor!
Awesome! Thank you!
the fool: do you have any nicknames?
- mostly short versions of my name, Liz or Lizzy. Back in high school one of my friends nicknamed me Mojo which still cracks me up.
the magician: have you ever written a poem or song about somebody else?
- oh god yes. back in highschool i had a personal geocities website with a journal and poetry that i shared with my friends and i definitely wrote embarrassing poetry including one actually titled ‘crush’ that i made my crush read. i was terrible.
the emperor: what are some names that you like?
- i’ve always love the name Ava, i also love names that are perceived as gender neutral like sasha or alex, and cheesy hipster names like sage or autumn.

3, 11, 17, and 19 for the ask meme!
Oooh yay! Thanks!
3. list your fandoms and one character from each that you identify with
There are so many fandoms, we could be here all night.
Let’s see, Dragon Age is obviously my main fandom, but gosh, who do I identify with. Maybe Hawke? My mom was worse, or at least, bad in different ways than Leandra, but definitely familiar with impossible expectations and a lifetime of guilt trips.
Okay that was sad, next up let’s go with my first big fandom, Roswell. Definitely identified with the protagonist, Liz Parker. My name is also Liz, nerdy brunette, and I used to want to go into bioengineering. And hot damn would I definitely make out with an alien.
And one more, um, the 100. Definitely Octavia. I too am a tiny ball of rage with a repressed/sheltered childhood. Tragically no amazing older brother though.
11. describe your ideal day.
Sleep in. Go out for breakfast with friends and eat some amazing waffles or crepes or french toast with a giant pile of fried potatoes and onions. Go to a theme park with super short rides for the roller coasters and at least one ride that involves going really really high because heights are my fave thing. Maybe a cute girl wants to hold my hand cause the rides make her nervous. Cook dinner together and play board games and watch silly horror movies and then finish it off with a midnight beach walk.
17. would you say your tumblr is a fair representation of the “real you”?
Pretty much? Like, I’m way less fandom focused than my blog shows cause I’m hella adhd and have been known to skip between 3-5 netflix shows in an hour, but I try to live up to the Dragon Age focus in my description. Also don’t talk about my obsession with my cat nearly enough, largely because he’s very black and very hard to photograph. But overall, definitely going to give you a good feel for how I am as a person.
19. which Harry Potter house would you be in? or are you a muggle?
Slytherin for sure, and doing my part every day to destroy the idea that cunning or ambition are bad traits. If we reserve those only for people who are trying to use that ambition to do harm, we’re creating a very dangerous culture.

Here it is, here’s my ACA Open Enrollment Plug:
If you’re in NYS, DO NOT SIGN UP WITH FIDELIS CARE.
If you support real religious freedom (i.e. your religious choices are between you and your god, you have a right to privacy)
if you have endometreosis or any other complex reproductive-system-related condition
if you want to keep seeing your gyno, and want to be able to access all the services your gyno provides
DO NOT SIGN UP WITH FIDELIS.
They don’t have the guts to say this anywhere you’d notice it while you’re perusing the plan benefits– I actually did try quite hard to go through all the fine print but I missed it. And clearly, New York State expects you to miss it. Because when I signed up, after a couple of months, they sent me this letter, which clearly indicates that they didn’t expect me to already have realized this:

“Fidelis, the health plan you joined, does not pay for family planning services.” (That last is bold and underlined.)
The back side of the letter tells me to go to Planned Parenthood. Here’s the whole text:

(Photo is of a list of places in several counties where you can get family planning services. Note that one of the counties in the list contains no family planning clinics and lists no options.)
I have a primary care physician who does my gyno care. This tells me, in effect, that I’m going to have to find another gyno to do that, because my insurance company won’t reimburse my PCP for a visit where she mentions birth control.
Now, what my personal medical needs are, are immaterial to this discussion, but I am making this post because I know a lot of people are trying to choose plans right now. And it is NOT OBVIOUS that Fidelis is a Catholic company– they changed their name from Catholic Health Plan of NYS for that reason, I think.
So– BE AWARE, because they’re sure as hell not going to make it obvious.
I don’t know if this is legal in any other states, or if Fidelis exists in any other states, but LOOK FOR THIS KIND OF THING when you sign up!! Explicitly CHECK TO MAKE SURE.
I am going to switch away from Fidelis not because I can’t stand to go to Planned Parenthood, but because I don’t want to support a company in any way that feels it can dictate my health choices because of its religious beliefs.
