It had been weeks since he had asked his friend to forget about that out of the blue kiss, since Gabe had been found dead and already so much had changed ---- Bishop never thought he’d be living with Brooke but things seemed to be going in directions that he hadn’t planned; or seemed coming. “Cait.” her name felt funny coming out of his mouth and he wasn’t sure why, but as Bishop approached the table where she sat, he felt himself smiling and feeling like a bit of an idiot. “You mind if I sit down and interrupt this quiet time you seem to be having?” ( @delicaitlyn )

“Who do I talk to around here to get a decent statement?” He voiced more to himself than anyone in particular. For the third time this week, Grey had been tossed out of Town Hall for asking questions he probably shouldn’t. Whatever, they’d get over it.

“Having a tough time getting answers for.. ---- are you writing a story or something?”

“That seat’s taken,” Graham said without looking up, even though the seat across from him was clearly open. “You should try by Thing 1 and Thing 2,” the warlock said unsympathetically. He glanced up only to tip his head back in the direction of what appeared to be the last empty seat in the crowded establishment. Right next to a table with two kids having meltdowns.

Bishop had already sat down, not thinking that the guy in front of him would have cared all that much ---- apparently he was wrong. “Sorry.” he quickly mumbled before going to move, only to see that the other seat was now taken up by, well, maybe Thing 3. “Uh ---- I’m just waiting for someone anyway.”

“Its something I’m working on and something tells me you don’t like to take it easy on people.”

He looked about as great as Thea felt and she didn’t know why but there was something about him that the ex-hunter understood without being able to explain. A type of hollowness some people just couldn’t shake. “That makes two of us…” she cleared her throat, not sure how to do this, reaching out but she chewed the inside of her cheek before nodding at him. “Are you…are you doing anything?” She didn’t want to do anything really but doing nothing with someone kinda seemed less empty than doing nothing alone right then.

“Thea, does it look like I’m doing anything?” he asked simply while gesturing to his surroundings that clearly implied he was in the middle of doing jack all and hadn’t planned on leaving the couch for a few more days at least. “What’s going on?”

❝And I suppose your mental health is in perfect condition?❞

“Crazies was the wrong word, that’s my bad. I shouldn’t have lumped people with mental illnesses in with the likes of the people in Red Creek.”

“Why’re you apologizing? It’s true, though a hundred is actually generous, all things considered.” Add on a little more than a millennium and he’d be in the ball park. “But it’s kind of cool, isn’t it? You can hold it if you like? Simon used it back in the day but, again, we have plenty laying around.”

“Someone once told me it was rude to comment on people’s ages is all. You sure? Usually something happens and before we know it; it’ll be broken. Simon --- that’s your brother, right?”

“A woman, a man– you can have both if you want, Bishop,” he assured the boy; his change of demeanor was certainly to the vampire’s liking. “if you’re up for it, there’s actually another party going on down the cellar, a private one where everything is much, much more exciting.”
@bishopxdanes

There would have been a time where Bishop would have run away screaming, but against his better judgement, he trusted Damien and everything that seemed to come along with his world; maybe he needed this. “A woman, definitely a woman. You know, you’re sort of like the devil on my shoulder, Damien.” and yet he seemed to be smiling, intrigued by what exactly could go on in this private party that he was somehow invited to. “Okay, I’m in. Yeah, I’m definitely in.”

“Thanks man. Honestly my biggest concern is the fact that it could belong to a kid or something and I’d hate for them to be upset over this. I have no idea. I honestly couldn’t believe people were ignoring the guy”

“People will ignore everything these days if its nothing to do with them. They’re selfish. That’s why people like us are here to pick up the slack, right? Okay, let’s go talk to the guy and see what else we can do; somewhere to start.”

“Yeah same. I always tend to think all cats are girls too. It’s just weird. Yeah if you have time to”

“I’ve got nothing else to do, and if I had a pet and they went missing, I’d be pretty upset so sure, I’ll help. Do you know the last time anyone saw it?”

She smiled, pleased that he was so biddable. She liked that in a man. “You’re sweet. And I’m sure you have hidden depths.” Leading him over to a pile of lapis lazuli mosaic tiles, she gestured to the end of the garden. “I’m planning a little patio for the lower garden. Somewhere for people to sit and admire the flowers, have a drink, that sort of thing. Can you help me shift them down the path?”

“Thanks.” though his words were accompanied by a polite smile that actually might have been genuine, it was always difficult to hear such things from other people; sometimes he just couldn’t bring himself to believe them. His eyes followed where she was gesturing as he nodded in silent agreement before remembering he actually had to speak. “Yeah, course I can. This really is a nice place you’ve got here.” though he assumed she heard that quite a bit, but as he picked up a few of the tiles and began walking towards the end of the garden, Bishop really did feel a sense of --- peace? “How long it did it take you to get this all up and running?”

“You have a point, Bishop. Besides, I feel as if hot weather is a little better than the cold; there’s not enough blankets and heaters to warm me up, plus a lack of activities to engage in.”

“Maybe you should be thinking about taking up some hobbies before it get’s to that point. What do you like doing anyway??”

Damien smirked, “what exactly are you looking for tonight, Bishop?” For someone like the mortal, a lot of things could be stronger than alcohol, half of them atleast strong enough to kill him but he wanted to hear it from the boy since he seemed so eager tonight. “I could introduce you to someone…”
@bishopxdanes

“Anything.” he stated plainly while feeling completely out of his comfort zone but still he pushed on, his wants or perhaps simply needs unwavering as Damien spoke the words Bishop actually didn’t see coming. “You’re going to introduce me to a woman?” he asked now, uncertain if the other was having him on.

“Um…that one is about a hundred years old, around there anyway. We’ve quite a few sextants laying around– I think Chris has one in his office from the 18th century actually.”

“ ----- A hundred years old? You’re serious? Wow. I’ve never been in the same room as something as old as.. ---- oh, guess I have been. Sorry.”

“Jordan did actually give me a day off once. Only because I bribed him with breakfast in bed before work— I slept with a nightlight on until I was thirteen, Bish. We do not do well with scary movies.. You know, Jordan. He’s tough, even when hes breaking. I honestly don’t know how he is if I’m being honest. People ask, I say he’s fine — but I don’t even know if he’s fine” she couldn’t answer his question about her– she could barely look at him as he asked it. She wasn’t fine, and she didn’t want to lie to her best friend. So a shake of her head was her only response while the warmth of his embrace threatened to break her open. “It feels like ever since I got back, all our conversations are either sad or angry or we’re just fucking miserable. I miss being happy– do you?”

“Here I thought the offer of your cooking would have been enough to scare him away.” he joked because in all honesty; Fin was a great cook. “And now our entire life is a scary movie.Go figure. -- How could someone be fine after that?” it wasn’t a question he expected her to answer, just something he felt needed to be voiced because for his entire life, her family had been his family and he’d make damn sure they were all okay; he owed them that much. Bishop allowed his gaze to linger on her hidden face for a moment before giving his friend a small amount of privacy as he looked to the walls that once held all their secrets before she began to speak once more. “I’ve forgotten what its like to be happy.” he told her honestly, knowing that he could never for a second lie to her. “And I want to change that, Fin. I don’t want us to keep going like this. Maybe.. --- maybe we could actually have some fun. I know, its drastic but we need to. For Gabe, for JD --- for ourselves.”
