a lot of people are dismissing the "violent" rap music rushing and scrambling to say well not ALL rap is violent here's some rappers who don't rap about violence but like. idk. I think the "violent" rap is important to listen to as well. do you know why gangs exist? do you know why Compton is the way that it is? can you listen to the experiences of black men when you can't personally relate on any level? or will you dismiss an entire genre of music because certain sub genres make you feel a bit uncomfortable as a non-black person?

"New Yorkers bite more people than sharks annually" is an excellent example of how statistics can be misleading. Like yeah no shit, do you have any idea how rare it is to even encounter a shark in the wild? They're not exactly urban animals. I'm pretty damn sure that if sharks were living in big cities like pigeons, just strolling down the streets looking for food scraps, you'd see a lot more news stories about New Yorkers biting them.

big fan of when businesses have signs that preemptively thank you for following a rule. "thank you for respecting our staff" "thank you for not smoking in the bus station." etc. its a passive aggressive power move and it works on me every time. i mean i wasn't even PLANNING on direspecting the staff but now i'm extra not gonna. they thanked me already. i've been checkmated.

If there's one thing I am absolutely certain about it is that people across all of human history love novelty shaped ceramics.

because the british government is absurd and draconian, palestine action, a civil disobedience organisation guilty of nothing more than spraying red paint on fighter jets, will be proscribed as a terrorist organisation under the terrorism act from midnight tonight.

that means that, if you're in the uk, you could face up to 14 years in prison for showing anything amounting to support for them.

so before that happens, i'm going to say: we are all palestine action. terrorism is not civil disobedience; the suffragettes are not called terrorists and they detonated bombs. a real example of terrorism is the systematic and indiscrimant slaughter of innocent people and our government is not only complicit, not just enabling it, but actively profiting from it.

So in my discord server I did a Writing Marathon event where people would write whatever they wanted in a week and whoever wrote the most would be the winner at the end of it. My friend @bismuth-209 and I both struggle to write anything at all, and so she came in last and I 2nd to last, which we're both very happy that we were inspired to write anything at all. That's amazing I think.

But I do briefly want to touch on the first two winners. Because they both wrote 40,000 words total

Like you realize that's almost a novel right. You realize people aimed to write that much during nanowrimo in the span of a month, RIGHT??

genuinely insane amount of words. The winner got a special role and that was it they did this for the sheer fun of it

huh. so i just found out "Torment Nexus" was invented for that one specific meme. i genuinely thought it was from an Orson Scott Welles novel. my ignorance is an unending source of surprise and delight
