Every time I see news coverage of a protest I remember this image of a single overturned trashcan in front of The Washington Post building

People still tend to lump JK Rowling in with the category of ~problematic artists~ and I need everyone to understand that is not the problem with her. She is not comparable to anyone who wrote a piece of fiction you hate, or someone who made rude comments in 2015 and has since learned better.
She is far more like Elon Musk. She is a radicalized person with an extreme amount of social and financial power, and for YEARS she has been using that power to try to influence her government into hurting vulnerable people, on purpose. And she has succeeded. THAT is the problem with her, and THAT is why spending money on her books is so dangerous, not because her books aged badly.
Critiquing her work is fine, of course (I personally was never a fan so I really don’t care) but you NEED to understand that fiction is not the main issue here. And I truly think acting like she’s the same as the rest of any giant list of ~problematic creators of the week~ waters down how dangerous she is.

There should totally be a movement called “Sleep in Public” where people defend their right to sleep on public property. Sleep in your cars. Sleep on benches. Sleep at the park. Just make it a mundane and regular part of life to see someone napping in the library. It would make it much harder to single out the homeless for harassment if everyone else is doing the same thing and much harder to argue that it’s a “threat to public safety” when it’s so clearly harmless.

"God never gives you more than you can handle" is survivorship bias. People who got more than they could handle are dead.

The fun thing about my life right now is that I can see my therapist mentally assuming the crash position every time the video feed launches, and she can tell from my facial expression that what we thought was rock bottom last week was actually just a sturdy precipice overlooking Hell, and that yes, in fact, things can and have gotten worse.
Also, I can't make eye contact with her or stop masking via smiling, so I'm just saying the worst things imaginable with a big cheery Stepford wife smile on my face. Which could mean nothing...

Re: the coldplay concert CEO affair thing. I’ve seen people being like “cheating is bad but so is filming strangers in public without their knowledge or consent” something I agree with in almost every circumstance but this wasn’t like someone taking their phone out to film the people standing next to them at the concert. They were on the kiss cam. I think it’s sort of different. Pretty much all concert venues have lots of signs being like. By entering this area you are consenting to being recorded. I think it’s slightly different. Also if we can’t laugh at the humiliation of the CEO of a big AI company what can we laugh at.
