The atmosphere in Hannibal is totally unreal. Mads: It looks like a stage set. My office is designed like something from the 1920s with a library on the second floor. I wear outdated suits and the furniture is bizarre. The whole place yells ‘serial killer’ in your face, but this is the concept. Hannibal appeared decades ago and we know that he is a killer, a lover of classical music, probably gay. But as the story takes place before the books, the audience must understand that the cops, they do not know this. Hannibal was one of the first famous serial killers in fiction and we wanted to stay true to his character. [x]

Imagine Albus and Gellert going to couples therapy:
Albus: And then he yelled after me, Who will love you now, Dumbledore!
Gellert: Only because you turned your back on me!
Therapist: I thought we'd established that blaming one another is not helpful.
Gellert: But he destroyed our pendant!
Albus: Well, you tried to kill my nephew!
Gellert: Only because he ruined my chances of ruling the magical World! It was nothing personal!
Albus:...
Therapist:....I see there's a lot to unpack here.

I could be wrong...
but I don’t think that killing the Qilin was Grindelwald’s original plan.
When he holds the Qilin early in the movie he mentions that it sees all and that when a Qilin appears a righteous leader rises. This is an interesting choice of words. He does not focus on a Qilin choosing based on purity. He emphasizes righteousness and he DOES think his cause is righteous.
I think that his original hope was that he might indeed be chosen. But as he holds the Qilin in that scene, you can see that the creature barely allows him to pet it. It kind of struggles because it doesn’t like what it sees. After Credence has leaves he puts the Qilin down and holds its head, trying to make it look at him but it doesn’t acknowledge him as he wishes. That’s when he opens its throat and moves on to Plan B.
In fact when the second Qilin is choosing, he momentarily seems to hope that he might have a second chance at being ‘seen’ and his reaction at not being chosen is again both angry and hurt.
Obviously this is based on how I perceive Mikkelsen’s acting and the movements of a CGI pet, but I can’t wait to see how these scenes are described in the script.

Thinking about how many times Aberforth must’ve arrived home and opened the front door only to be greeted by passionate moaning is my new favorite thing right now.

FBSOD SPOILER IMAGES BELOW

These two overpowered frenemie wizards will end me. Seriously.
Just the way Albus facial expression turns panicky as Gellert approaches him.
I'm wondering whether Gellert attempted to touch Albus, tenderly brush his palm over his face or even dared to kiss him...
Albus is so flustered here. He sees the temptation but decides to step back.

btw i have my own theory for why Albus locked Gellert up in Nurmengard in what was obviously pretty Not Fun conditions for so long, regardless of my own ideas about when/how they might have seen each other over the years.
Harry remembered what Dumbledore had said about Voldemort moving beyond “usual evil.” “Isn’t there any way of putting yourself back together?” Ron asked. “Yes,” said Hermione with a hollow smile, “but it would be excruciatingly painful.”
“Why? How do you do it?” asked Harry.
“Remorse,” said Hermione. “You’ve got to really feel what you’ve done.”
and then -
At last he said, “Grindelwald tried to stop Voldemort going after the wand. He lied, you know, pretended he had never had it.”
Dumbledore nodded, looking down at his lap, tears still glittering on the crooked nose. “They say he showed remorse in later years, alone in his cell at Nurmengard. I hope that is true. I would like to think that he did feel the horror and shame of what he had done. Perhaps that lie to Voldemort was his attempt to make amends … to prevent Voldemort from taking the Hallow …”
“…or maybe from breaking into your tomb?” suggested Harry, and Dumbledore dabbed his eyes.
Whether he admitted it to himself or not, whether he ever told Gellert about it or not, I think Albus was genuinely hoping that whatever comes after death, wherever they went, whatever they became, they would be able to go together. And I think he saw the only chance of that as Gellert being able to truly show real remorse for what he’d done. No, he never made Horcruxes, but I still think Albus was deeply concerned about the evil he’d done and what it would do to his soul.
And I wonder how long Albus decided to wait at King’s Cross, not taking his own train (or grasping a phoenix tail, which is how I think he would have seen it), just waiting in the blank white space, waiting to see if Gellert is going to show up to this one last date and they can finally go off together like they always wanted to.

Quick reminder that dear Aberforth saw EVERYTHING.
I’m sorry, but I just can’t get over it! I can’t get over how he said it to Albus so bluntly and unashamedly. It was perfect!
When I heard it in the theater, I just wanted to reach into the screen and give him a big ol’ kiss.

I feel so sorry for Dumbledore and Snape who were stuck in the past and never got over their first loves : Grindelbitch and Lily Mary Sue Evans .
All because JKR believes in eTeRNaL LoVe and romanticizes emotional dependency.

I think nothing hurt as bad as Albus sitting on that bench watching the wedding and love being lived and fulfilled. He always preaches about love being the greates power there is. And there he sat, knowing he would never and could never have that. He could never act again on his feelings, his love would never be lived, never be fulfilled and he would never marry the man he loved.
Yet he got never bitter or cynical because of it.
Despite all his mistakes and all the things he did wrong, it is insane how he still saw love as something good.

I don't know how they did it but Jude Law exuded such massive gay dilf energy as Albus Dumbledore it wasn't even necessary for him to verbally confirm that he is gay every 5 seconds but he still did and I am grateful.

hi! sorry to spring a question on you, but do the fish that cling to the belly of whales (like humpbacks) hurt them? are they geating parasites that have latched, or are they attached and feeding on the whale?
remoras?
no, they're fine! these little dudes are just hitching a free ride.
remora are a fairly large species of ocean-going fish that have suction cups on their heads! they use this to plaster themselves to larger animals like a licensed car window garfield in the interests of free transportation and maybe grabbing some scraps if their host is a messy eater.

they also make a habit out of eating other animals that WOULD parasitize their host, so even the most aggressive sharks will leave remoras be and take them where they want to go.

REMORA PAYS NO FARE. REMORA TRAVELS FREE!!!
