i cannot recommend the fic series By My Side by demonicputto enough

quick overview: post s1, Crowley gets reincarnated as a human (as in born as a baby to a human mother) with no memories of his past life in what he thinks is a self-sacrifice to save Aziraphale. a few years later, Aziraphale turns into a human child, but keeps all of his memories in order to look after Crowley.

the writing is incredible - the way they make Anthony his own character but so CLEARLY Crowley at his core, how Aziraphale is both himself and slowly changes and grows due to his human experiences, the OCs oh i could wax poetic about the incredibly complex and fleshed out original characters

the final work ends on a bit of a "and they lived happily ever after" open ending note that works if the writer never picks this back up.

this series is over 1 million words long. it is an investment, you're basically reading a series of novels. and it is so worth it.
