Keeping My Promises

[Almost a week has gone by since I was told that my best friend @ofpetalsnash was gone. I was thinking that my husband @ofmayanchaos was playing some sort of trick on me. When I realized that it wasn’t a joke, I fell apart. Since then, I’ve been acting President of the Roses.

It definitely wasn’t a title I wanted the way I had earned it. I made sure to check on @ofpetalsnglam every day to see if she or @letmepreachtoya needed anything. They were still making the arrangements for Lexi, so I gave them the space needed.

As for the Roses, I’ve been trying to give everyone a job to do so that no one would be lost in their grief for too long. I made my way down my hallway and softly knocked on the door in front of me.

The eyes that matched my best friend’s met mine. @flawedsnark had been staying with me since I heard about Lexi. I tried to smile as I sat on the edge of the bed.]

Good morning my handsome boy. What do you want for breakfast?

[I was met with a very loud groan and @flawedsnark covered his head.

“Not hungry.”

I giggled and pulled down the covers kissing his forehead.]

No deal, DJ. You need to eat. I made a promise to your mom before you and Harley were born that I would take care of you guys if something happened to her. I’m keeping that promise. Up, up, up, let’s go silly face.

[DJ just sighed and pushed the covers off of him.

“Fine.”

I looked at him with a raised eyebrow and his tune quickly changed.

“Okay, Nannie I’m sorry. I just miss Mami so much.”

My heart broke and I stroked DJ’s cheek as gently as I could.]

Believe me, baby boy, I know. I do too. Now, what do you want for breakfast?

[DJ smiled a little and tapped his chin.

“PANCAKES!!”

I laughed and kissed his head.]

Okay, pancakes it is. Get up and get dressed, make sure that you text Quinn to let her know that you are awake.

[I walked back down the hallway and saw @ofpixiedustncros curled up on the couch with Marcus. A smile tugged at my lips.]

Good morning my pretty girl. DJ wants pancakes for breakfast. Are you okay with that?

[Harley nodded and I started to move toward the kitchen when my cellphone rang scaring the fuck out of me. I didn’t even bother to look at the screen before I put the phone to my ear.]

Hello?

[The voice on the other end startled me.

“Nanette. Are you alone?”

I cleared my throat and stepped onto my back deck before I answered.]

I am, now. Gray? Is that you?

[My heart was pounding because if the answer was yes, it would mean Lexi was alive.

“You know who I am, Good. Yes, I’m alive and currently at Dad’s in a fuck ton of pain. I need a favor. I need you. Do you have my babies?”

I exhaled and cried softly.]

Yes, baby. Whatever you need. The twins are with me. The rest are with Jax. Do you want your boy?

[I heard something crash and I heard someone yell at Grayson in the background. Lexi’s male personality could be a fucker sometimes.

“Sorry, the pain is a bitch. Can you come here? Please. I need people to stop with the questions. Please, Nan make them stop.”

I didn't need any other information. I grabbed my go bag and the kids. Ten minutes later we were on our way to Preacher’s house. Why? Years ago, I made a promise to Lexi. No matter what, I keep all of my promises to her.]
