The nametag stuck to his shirt might as well have been slapped on his forehead as far as Buck was concerned. He hadn't gone by his given first name in over a decade and now he had to get through an entire evening of people calling him Evan. And Buck had to decide if it was even worth the hassle to correct them or not. He usually didn't; a charming smile and an easy-going attitude too good for business for him to start being difficult about things. As his parents would have so kindly put it.

It was only a matter of time until he gave up on networking at the fundraiser and camped out by the table of refreshments instead. His back turned to the crowd while he busied himself with studying the options. He was just about to reach out and grab a glass when another arm extended past him and reached for the same one. Their fingers brushing before Buck pulled away.

"Oh, wow, I'm sorry..." Buck immediately turned apologetic. His smile sheepish as he faced the stranger and came face-to-face with a man that was strikingly familiar. He had seen that face in plenty of photos over the years, after all. His stomach still swooping in the same way it always had when their eyes met. "This is, uh... Hi. You can have that one," he suggested as soon as he remembered his voice, gesturing to the drink.
