The Last Starfighter completely passed me by when I was a kid. Maybe it wasn’t ever released here in Holland, I don’t know; there were so many movies to see back then anyway. I only learned of its existence much later—but I’ve still never seen it.

What interests me about art like this though, first of all, is the art itself: the craft, the imagination, the talent. Talent is always inspiring. Second, the period: it’s the 1980s, and that’s when I grew up. Third, and this connects to the second reason: the genre, the sci-fi stuff, the ships, the stars, the aliens.
