Westchester County FINALLY has a good all-vegetarian restaurant! Good Choice Kitchen, a vegan cafe´ on Main St. in Ossining, serves healthy, tasty, locally-sourced breakfast, lunch and dinners, to stay or take out. They also have a menu of delicious fresh juice combos, as well as smoothies and nut milk beverages. If you want dinner, be sure to get there in time; they close at 8 pm. They have coffee, thank god, but if you have to have yours with milk or cream, bring your own; this joint is strictly vegan. I had mine with almond milk (they make their own, from scratch), and was mesmerized by the psychedelic patterns it formed in my cup. http://goodchoicekitchen.com/

La India Bonita
I can’t believe I’ve passed this place hundreds of times and assumed it must be terrible. Since it's directly across from Hen Hud high school, I figured it’s a bad taco joint where students get cheap lunch. Then one day the little menu board outside caught my eye; I noticed some very authentic Mexican dishes on it that you don’t see on most Westchester Mexican restaurant menus. So my husband and I stopped there for lunch, and I had the BEST chiles relleños since I was in New Mexico! My husband had chicken enchiladas, which he said were good, but the chicken filling was on the dry side. I have since been back, and was not disappointed by the shrimp in garlic sauce or the tilapia. It’s a tiny hole in the wall with a TV that’s always on. It’s a little hit and miss; so far I recommend the only shrimp and the chiles relleños. Otherwise, you're on your own. This funky little Caribbean restaurant in Peekskill has authentic Jamaican food, from the usual patties and jerk dishes to goat head soup and cowfoot (I’m not quite that adventurous). Their jerk is fiery hot. You can cool it down with one of their home made drinks, such as peanut punch or pineapple ginger. My husband loves the goat curry. I see they’ve expanded their menu, so I will update this entry after checking out more dishes.
