We received word early this morning about this little girl who was dumped on the beach late last night. We know she was dumped because she can hardly move due to her injuries and definitely wasn’t there yesterday. She has been run over by a vehicle and then was tragically attacked by another dog as she lay helpless..... It will never get easier to witness these atrocities as you can hear from the heartbreak in Daphne’s voice. Especially when you get the smallest of tail wags. We have named her Valencia - it means ‘brave and strong’ which is what this little girl is. Now safe in our care and receiving emergency treatment. Please keep Valencia in your thoughts and hearts today. #Repost @susiesseniordogs with @get_repost ・・・ SARANAC LAKE, NY: Meet 10 year old Jessie! She arrived at the shelter in December when her former elderly human was admitted to a nursing home. Jessie is lucky to have caring shelter staff who take her to visit her former human which makes Jessie very happy. Sadly, her former person is no longer able to remember Jessie as their own dog. Nonetheless, they still bring each other joy during their visits!! Jessie is in search of an adopter who will be just as compassionate as Jessie is - and, perhaps, take her to visit her former person every once in awhile. PLEASE SHARE! 🛶 🏔 Jessie extremely friendly with everyone. She can live with dogs, cats, and respectful children. In December, she weighed in at 74 pounds, much bigger than she should be. (Extra weight is quite common for dogs who live with elderly owners who can't walk them but love them dearly and can sometimes overfeed because of that.) Jessie has managed to drop down to 59 pounds but is still working on the last 10lbs (aren't we all?!). Jessie has two "cherry eye" which do not cause her pain or discomfort. To remove, it is typically considered a cosmetic surgery. It has been suggested by the vet to avoid it is no need for undue surgery stress (especially considering the cherry eye does not bother Jessie). Jessie has a few harmless old lady warts, but, overall, she is very healthy for her age! Jessie can be adopted out of state, but an adopter MUST come adopt in person at the shelter. If resident dogs live at home, a meet and greet is suggested. Jessie's adoption fee has been sponsored!
