I have a theory !

I think Aleksander is son of Hannah and Egon or maybe Hannah and Ulrich.

Well I think he has some similar features like Hannah and Egon and moreover what is more shady is that his real name is Boris Niewald ! His last name is like a mix of Nielsen and Kahnwald. When Hannah went back in time to the 1950s, after meeting with Ulrich she was with Egon and the air between then was like... They were looking at each other with affection and I'm pretty sure they had an affair. Besides this, I also believe that Hannah changed her last name to not to get tracked or make anyone suspicious and I think this 'Niewald' is name she came up with.

The part that is shrouded in mystery is that how and when and why Aleksander/Boris showed up in 1980s.

Another thing

Maybe Aleksander is Ulrich and Hannah's son, because obviously they were sleeping together and 'Niewald' name makes more sense here ! His existence is a total mystery...so we can say that Hannah conceived the baby before the things went upside down and later on she time travelled to 1950s because maybe she knew that she was pregnant and wanted Ulrich to know about it and also rescue him but as we all know she leaves him to rot in the jail and realise that she doesn't need him anymore and gave birth to the baby all alone !

It's just my opinion !
