“I suggest you don’t bring up that traitor around me, Evanston.” Alecto kept the smirk on her lips, despite the churning in her stomach that always seemed to appear when her ex was brought up around her. “I may end up not being able to walk away from this conversation without blood on my hands.”
“If you really want to enlist the assistance of someone to suck me try the eldest Black son.” He mused. “Then again normally I prefer to do the sucking.”

“Still a little sore over everything that happened are we, sweetheart? It’s not my fault he picked me, you know. He obviously came to his senses and realised that you were not worth spending any time with.”
“There’s really nothing to miss about your pathetic, nasally voice and nasty personality. Now do crawl back into the hole you crawled out of.”

“My lips wouldn’t touch any part of you even if I was paid to do it, so we’re for once on the same track, Evanston. However, I suppose I could enlist the assistance of a Dementor, in order to suck out your soul?”
“Oh no Sweeheart, when it comes to sucking you’re not my type. Sorry.”

“Honestly? I don’t know the answer to that question. Would I rather stay within the same boring four walls confining us to Hogwarts, or would I rather be out in the dangerous world”
“Do you ever wish we had a choice?”

“I’m not jesting around at all, Evan. I’m merely warning you, so that you remember who it is that you are talking to, someone you shouldn’t take that tone of voice with for no reason.”

“ i am nowhere in the mood to be jesting around with you, alecto. not now. “ evan said before gritting his teeth.

“My deal? Evan darling, you should change your tone with me, before I make you.”
“ you have 5 seconds to tell me what the hell is your deal before i give in to my hostile impulses. “

“I honestly don’t think we have much of a choice, Adeline.”

“How did you know you were ready for all this? The future I mean.”

“I wasn’t actually planning on sucking any souls out today, but if you really wanted me to, I could make an exception for someone like yourself.”
“There are a lot of things I miss more than you. Like having my soul sucked out.”

“What the--” Alecto was cut off by the person in front of her pressing the cake to her lips, and she let her eyes close for a moment as she savoured the taste. “Okay, wow.”

Alecto internally admitted that Amycus dragging her off of the dance floor and out into the corridor was a good thing. She didn’t want to make a scene, and with how she was getting upset, this was definitely the better solution. She took in a deep and shaky breath as her elder twin cupped her cheeks and looked down at her, the tears still welling in her eyes although she held them back and stopped them from tumbling down her cheeks. “Am…” Alecto whispered softly as she kept her eyes on him, chewing on the inside of her lip as she tried to keep those tears at bay. “How can I trust that you won’t leave me again?” She could barely get the words out, because she had never expected him to leave her in the first place. The brunette had come so close to losing the person she cared about most in the world; if the baby had still been around, she already would have lost him. How could she know that this wouldn’t happen again? Alecto had let herself care about one other person in her life time, and he too, had left her. She wasn’t sure if she could survive losing someone else she loved.
His heart ached as he watched her grow emotional and frankly, he wasn’t sure of how much he could handle either. Knowing she’d feel humiliated if anyone saw her in such a state, Amycus led her out of the hall and down the corridor until they could be alone. Cupping her face with his hands, his eyes fixed on hers, unsure how to convince her of what he needed to. “I didn’t mean to, I didn’t mean for any of this to happen, I didn’t mean for things to end up this way,” he mused, knowing that it didn’t make it right by any means. “I got distracted, I forgot what was important and I hurt you. You have every fucking right to be hurt, but now all I want to do is make it right. We can’t just… We need to move forward and I need you to trust that I could never love anyone the way I love you.”

Alecto didn’t break away from their conversation, even when he turned to give his friend a small smile. She didn’t need to convince everyone else around them that things were okay, because they didn’t matter to her. “Trust me, I know you were at it with her for a long time, Am.” Alecto didn’t like that she could feel herself getting upset, and she took in a shaky breath as she lifted her head up once again to capture her brother’s gaze. “But what I don’t understand is that you fell in love with someone else. Am, my heart has no room for anyone but you in there, and you... you let her come between us. She took over my time with you, made us argue, look at us now -- this isn’t right, and it’s because of her. What I don’t understand, is how you could let someone else into what we have?”
Falling silent, Amycus saw no point in lying, who would he convince? Lowering his gaze to the floor, he nodded as though to indicate he understood. “I didn’t look for it, Aly, it wasn’t a conscious decision that I made,” he replied in a hushed tone, flashing a grin at a friend to pretend everything was perfectly fine before turning his attention back to their intense discussion. “Me and Bella had been at it for a long time, we should have known better than to think fucking for years wouldn’t end up in complications, okay? That was where this went wrong, it wasn’t about you.”

“It’s not just sex though, Am.” Alecto replied, the volume of her voice lowering considerably so that those around them wouldn’t catch a word of their conversation. “I have sex with people to. I don’t... I don’t fall in love with them.” Swallowing the lump that appeared in her throat, somehow the brunette managed to keep swaying so it looked as if they were just two people on the dance floor having a good time. “I wasn’t enough for you to love, or didn’t give you enough love and you found someone else. That’s what I need to get over.”
Frown intensifying, Amycus was rather glad this was all rising to the surface, even if it did so in completely the wrong time and place. “It wasn’t about you,” he admitted, glancing away as he attempted to order his thoughts. “You’re always going to be enough, Alecto– I just… It wasn’t something I asked for or even wanted, it just happened and then it grew on me. As far as the rest goes, they’re just girls, a way to pass the time, none of it is worth losing you over.”

“Isn’t that part of how this mess started in the first place? Because you weren’t happy with just me?” Alecto didn’t want to get involved in this conversation again; not now, not in such a public place, and she looked up at him, pressing her lips together as her fingers gently played with the soft hairs at the nape of his neck. “I honestly don’t know.”
Entertaining her claim with a slight laugh and a roll of his eyes, Amycus couldn’t dismiss what she’d said. “Is that what you think?” he asked carefully, a frown creasing between his brows at the thought. Holding her a little tighter as he saw someone glance at her, the male finally returned his eyes back to hers. “I’ll never get bored of you– you know that, don’t you?”

Alecto knew the look on her brother’s face as she pulled away from her peck, the one that showcased his inner pouting, which cheered her up ever so slightly. With a deep breath, she wrapped her arm around his neck, the other still holding his hand as they started to sway in time to the music. “Mhm, perhaps Aubrey. He is cute, and you’ll get bored of me eventually at some point this evening.”

We’ll see and with that, the night got just a little brighter, anticipation building within him with every lingering touch. The smallest of smirks curved at his lips at her audacity, internally whining that it had to just be left at that. Taking her hand, he led her out to the dancefloor, pulling her into a hold that was perhaps a little closer than he ought to, his hand resting on the small of her back. “Not even Aubrey then?” he teased, raising an eyebrow at his sister.

“We’ll see.” Alecto missed her brother’s touch. That was a given. They’ not gone this long without being with each other since their complicated relationship had begun, and her skin was beginning to burn every time he brushed his lips or fingers against her own, her unfulfilled desire for him driving her crazy. Pushing herself up a little so that she could close the six inch height difference between them, Aly pressed a kiss to her brother’s cheek, although a little further down than she should have done, capturing the edge of his mouth ever so slightly. “There’s no-one else I want to dance with,”
“Well, I can see to that if need be,” he quipped back, whatever teasing there was between them diminished by the turn their conversation had taken. Nodding to confirm he understood, he placed a kiss on her forehead, irritated by the fact that he couldn’t even kiss her when he wished to. “Willing to honour your darling brother with a dance?”
