The situation with the corruption right now is exploring a very interesting point of mental health and mind altering symptoms. At what point is someone capable of making choices for themself and at what point do the people around them need to step in and help them even if they don't want it.
Tr!pangi had his memories of the realm wiped by the corruption but was still given the choice weather to be cured or not. He choose to be cured but those around him were faced with the situation that he was gone, maybe forever, if he chose not to be cured. But they still let him choose showing how choice focused tr!lukey and tr!aimsey are.
Tr!pili was corrupted first but wasn't aware he was, denied it and made excuses for why he looked purple. People accepted it and there wasn't really a cure so people allowed him to do as he pleased as there was no other way till more recently. Tr!ace is more obviously corrupted and vocal about it. He's in a more symbiotic relationship with the corruption claiming to still be able to choose for himself and occasionally going against the corruption proving it to the people around him. He seems most able to choose and those with the cure are willing to let him choose so far.
Tr!bad seems emotionally corrupted, he's curious and asking about the cure to everyone but never actually saying he wants to be cured. Everyone is pointing out how weird he's acting and how different he is from normal. He tries to correct it but fails at it further showing how off he is. Both tr!lukey and tr!aimsey have asked if he wanted to be cured and respected his no to some extent.
Tr!pangi might be the one who gets people to realise they aren't able to make this choice for themself anymore. Even if it goes against the others morals and is the opposite of what he was given, he might be the one to push that sometimes these things need to happen and sometimes you need to help people even if they can't recognize it for themself.
#At one point you need to accept that the patient is beyond the ability of giving consent for themself...#the realm smp#trsmp

See, the thing about me is that I don't care if the corruption is sentient has emotions and feels lonely. I don't care if it questions its right to live as much as any other players. I'm too resentful of all it killed in the Kingdom of Null.
I feel like lots of other povs don't have the full picture of what happened to that kingdom like Lukey pov as he read in his past in the memory lane. Yes, most of them know about the calamities from the library archives, but that book is not even slightly as touching as Newt and Lukey's history. Because they are from the kingdom pov and theirs is from two civilians povs.
How everyone's life's got slowly destroyed by the calamities, the few survivors gathering scared near the kingdom castle, just trying to survive, and still having to work and fix their homes and care for their loved ones and try to build a future even with the looming treath of the corruption killing them bit by bit. How Newt, turned into a keeper and living thru milenia, still thinksand mourns what his life could've had been if it was not destroyed by an apocalypse.
How in the very last days the kingdom gathered everyone to the end raid in one last attempt to kill what was killing them. Everyone, even the children and the elderly. We know about grandma keeper. She was just an old lady and she went to the end war because she had no other options.
The corruption and it's calamities killed everyone, and what it didn't kill it trapped in the shape of keepers. So even if the corruption is sentient and feels lonely, what right to live it has in this universe after all it's done?

The Corruption isn’t evil in the same way as it isn’t actually good, either. It’s a living organism akin to, say, a fungus. It just wants to live and grow and spread, and that isn’t necessarily evil; it’s impossible to judge it by human senses of morality because it isn’t human.
But it is important to remember that every single member of the former Kingdom of Null besides trLukey was either killed by the Corruption and its Calamities or corrupted and turned into Keepers. And, with the Keepers, we’ve only seen the few who survived with their minds intact. Most lost their minds and were locked away for their own safety, and all of them lost their physical bodies and their voices.
And then there’s what happened with the dwarves and the giants. From what I remember, the giants became corrupted and killed off most of all of the dwarves on the server, making it two for two in civilization destroying.
And then there’s what it did to a certain few outworlders, trPangi especially. It probably sought him out as a host because he was kind to it before the End Fight, but attempting to bring it into the ‘family’ ended with him absolutely miserable before losing his memories and him debatably more miserable up to the point of him getting cured. It erased his memories and took out his eye. It tried forcing him to kill trLukey and trAimsey enough times that even Lifesteal Pangi was terrified of hurting these complete strangers. The way he described it, the Corruption was trying to erase him and turn him into just a puppet of it.
Granted, trAce and trAsh are pretty chill with the Corruption, but Ash doesn’t remember anything but being corrupted and Ace is corrupted down to his very soul. The Corruption treats them both well, but also? Huge potential of it doing what it did to Pangi and making them accept it?
If anyone has heard of The Last Of Us, they know that there are types of fungus in the real world capable of biological ‘mind control.’ Is that evil? Not really, that’s just how those organisms have adapted for survival.
But when the Corruption has been shown to be capable of this kind of mind control- in a literal sense this time, how can we trust what it’s saying through trBad that it really isn’t that bad? It isn’t evil, yeah, but that doesn’t mean that it’s as harmless as it wants people to think it is, either. Whether it means to be or not, it has hurt people. Entire civilizations are dead. While that might just be a means of survival for the Corruption, it’s also a bunch of reasons for people like trLukey and trAimsey and the dwarves to hate the Corruption and what it does. People they loved are dead or seemingly being puppeted around by a sentient world-destroying parasite who, in its loneliness, has adapted itself into becoming something that will destroy the entire world in order to stop feeling so alone.

a silent understanding as they look at eachother
Disbelief because they just got confirmation their faction leader just locked them in the lab
The way trpangi looks at the blocked exit in disbelief before looking at trbad and trlukey
The way trlukey looks at trpangi and then backs away from trbad

Still thinking about how Pangi lied to Lukey about the corruption maps and how he went to investigate them alone. His motive was not to be selfish or secretive, but he did it because he truly thought it was the only way to protect the people he cares about. If keeping Lukey in the dark means keeping him safe, if taking the risk himself means shielding Pili or saving Bad, then that’s a choice Pangi’s already made a thousand times in his head.
He said “if I get corrupted, so be it, I'll cure myself” like it’s no big deal, like he’s already prepared for the worst outcome as long as it’s him and not someone else. People call him a warrior, and he is; but they forget that being a warrior doesn’t just mean knowing how to fight. It means knowing what you’re willing to fight for. Something so so wrong with him. He sees himself akin to a weapon - something forged for impact, something designed to take the damage so no one else has to. A blade built to absorb the blow, not avoid it.
Because at the end of the day, his instinct isn’t just to swing a sword—it’s to throw himself in the way. Again and again. He doesn’t sit with feelings, he moves with them. Fights with them. It's not about being a hero, it's the only way he knows how to show love.

trLukey, who never makes promises because he doesn’t believe in them, promising trPangi that he won’t die tonight
They were standing so close, I can imagine that Pangi was holding Lukey’s face in his hands, looking him desperately in the eyes just begging for him to be safe

trLukey just read the book in which Newt said he was going to erase his memories, and he saw that Bad was in on it, and he’s FURIOUS (“And Bad ALLOWED this to happen!?”)
He immediately jumped into the fireplace to go to the secret lab, and now he’s just searching everything almost desperately, like genuinely distraught
