When activists say things like “It’s transphobic to say that you aren’t attracted to trans women,” that doesn’t translate to “You absolutely have to find a trans woman right now and bone down!” Instead, what they’re saying is “The only thing that all trans women have in common is that they’re trans women. They all look different, act different, think different, have different bodies and are at different stages of transition. There is no way that you find every single one of them unattractive. To specifically single them out as a group that you dislike is based on stereotypes and bias, not reality.”

It benefits all of us to take the time to examine our internal bias. Recognizing that prejudice and reflecting on it is a good thing. Maybe your sexual or romantic leanings will never change. That’s okay. But let’s not just brush past these things by saying “It’s a preference” when really: these thoughts are based on a culture of discrimination, stereotypes and bigotry. Labeling them as such is a reflection on that culture, not on your love life.

it is so important that you are a little bit ugly. please get comfortable with having unplucked eyebrows and nonexistent jawlines and wrinkles. let your blue hair grow out into an uneven pale green and your clothes be old and mend them and modify them until they’re unique to you. wear lipstick which doesnt compliment your skintone and mismatched outfits which went out of fashion 5 years ago. be a little bit too loud and a little bit too passionate and as weird as you can be because oh my god there is nothing more disturbing to me than perfection. beauty is manufactured and sold to us and you need to realise that you are a fucking animal to live a joyful life I am so serious. you cant obsess over aesthetics forever please just live messily and make your body your home however you please.

Some of you are weirdly prescriptivist about the language you use to talk about sex and like. You do not have to do that? 99% of that is slang and you can use it however you want? It's your body and you're the one having sex you are allowed and encouraged to use whatever terms you vibe with?

Any body part can be your cock, clit, pussy, dick, bussy, hole, balls. You can call vaginal sex pegging. You can call any kind of oral eating out. I feel like there are so many microadjustments we can make to our behaviors to make the most affected in our communities feel a bit safer and listened to and yet over and over I see folks get shit on for making literally the tiniest requests.

If a trans woman asks you to stop calling her dude or bro or whatever, you stop. If a Black person asks you to stop using AAVE, you stop. If a disabled person asks you to walk slower, you slow down and let them set the pace. You don't fucking argue with them, or provide some limp excuse like "i use it in a gender neutral way" "it's tiktok speak" "I can't help walking fast, I'm gay". Just change your behavior and don't make a big thing about it. It's like the lowest bar possible and still people trip over it.
