wanted plots - june
I could use a few more threads for Jeralt (that aren't from Ball... I'm getting to those), so here are two plots I'd like to take on! He's also Unaffiliated, so if there's a different prompt that you'd want to fill out let me know!
As usual, pings or DMs through Discord are preferred! Tumblr IMs are fine but may take longer for me to reply.
UNAFFILIATED MISSION BOARD: [ANY SKILL+1] - I could see him slotting into a good variety of servant duties! The first one that comes into my head is maybe as a cleaning butler? Maid? where he will proceed to show visible disgust at all the gaudy furniture once the nobles are out of sight. I'm definitely open to other ideas, though.
NON-MISSION BOARD: [LANCE+1] - I'm in it for the skill point I shan't lie, but Jeralt would get a kicker out of people actually taking the advice of this book to heart and thinking you can win love from it. In fact, he might enable it. Until it gets a bit too ridiculous for his taste, that is.

The idea of him skating on ice is out of his comfort zone.
Many years ago, the last time he dared to try such a thing, he created a buttock-shaped hole and got stuck in a lake. His skating partner at the time–another Knight he once fought alongside with–had to yank him out with all of their strength, resulting in them toppling over and getting stuck themselves.
A memory from many years ago… that nobody else but Jeralt remembers now.
He may have gotten carried away reminiscing about the past, as he is approached by the sole person freely gliding across the ice. Graceful like a swan, she was, but to think she’d invite him to join her.
Rather than refuse the invitation and proceed to make a fool out of himself if he attempted to skate on his own, he looks at her extended hand. “An old man like me doesn’t work well on ice… But I won’t lie when I say I’d like to learn how. Besides, it’s much easier when an expert shows me the ropes.”
waltz of the snowflakes.

Oh, thank goodness he has a knife.
He looks like the type to have one stashed away, but the older man wasn’t certain until now. The only weapon Jeralt has on him is the wooden bow and arrow he was given by the guys managing the mission board, and it would look a lot more crude and violent if he were to use an arrow to shank its throat.
By the time the Knight swatted off a fallen feather out of his face, his hunting buddy had already slain the bird in the blink of an eye.
Jeralt pauses for a beat after the young man takes hold of the freshly killed turkeese. Then, they head on further into the forest without a hitch to find their next kill. For someone with good hunting skills, he doesn’t seem all too comfortable with the turkeese’s corpse.
They’ve been quite efficient at this whole job so far. Maybe it’s time to make a bit of conversation. “You’re pretty adept with that dagger. Is it your weapon of choice?”
two birds blah blah blah

Ever since joining the Knights of Seiros, there was one name that could be heard in rumors every now and then from some of the older souls. Jeralt. He had been spoken of more like myth than person from those with starry-eyed looks in their eyes.
But at some point, there was a shift. At some point recently, the way his name was said came to life with more specific stories in the present tense, heralding the grand return of the captain to the Knights! And furthermore, he was going to be in attendance at the upcoming Ethereal Ball!
This would be a good opportunity to greet her superior then, especially since the past few moons had put so many people in the monastery to different far corners of the continent. Here, tonight, though, they'd all be in one place. Lapis keeps an eye out for some of her fellow knights she already does know, and when she sees those same starry-eyed coworkers greet and bombard the captain enthusiastically, she knows that must be the man.
She waits for him to be freed from the crowd before she comes over, bearing a gift in the form of a collection of fruits she'd collected while waiting. The impromptu basket's made of large leaves tied together to create a vessel, and colorful fruits from the local trees fill it.
“ Hi there! My name's Lapis. I'm one of the Knights too. ”  Though she was able to stride on over, she ends up being a bit more stiff in her gait than she realizes.  “ Those guys must've been talking your ear off. They always look up to you when we're chatting, so I can't be too surprised, heh. So I won't take up too much of your time, but figured I'd let you know who I am just in case. Oh! And a little something! ”
She hands the basket to him then.
“ All the fruit's safe. And if you're looking for charms, my guy's here to join you for a snack, hehe. ”
Indeed, wedged between some of the fruit, one of her turtle charms sits there, peering up at the man.
Jeralt nearly forgets what’s brought upon him from his position as Captain whenever there’s a large-scale event such as this.
Socializing.
Lots, and lots of it.
You’d think that after all those years of being a leader, he would have at least a slight bit of enjoyment from the attention. It turns out that no matter how many people he’s spoken to, the way nobles flit around with their words, making them more flowery than Jeralt’s mindspace can accommodate is but one of their many ways of giving him a headache.
Next, after the nobles are the Knights of Seiros who decided to come visit. They’re not as tedious to speak to ( and, in his opinion, easier to redirect their attention to other matters than nobles ) which sets his social battery a little bit at ease.
Finally, he manages to come up with an excuse and slip out of the bubble of soldiers, intended on catching up to Sitri. His mistake was walking at a relaxed pace and pretending like his mind wasn’t preoccupied with his own agenda, so he is once again approached by another Knight. Jeralt turns around once he hears the girl greet him.
Ah, this one brought a gift with her. A nicely arranged basket of fruits, and a small turtle charm to boot. Makeshift, but appreciated nonetheless.
“They sure have, I won’t deny. I know they mean well." He chuckles, shaking his head while taking the present into his arm. "Good to meet you, Lapis. Hope you make the most of this ball.”

[ MULLED WINE ] - Warm red wine spiced to perfection, ideal for staving off winter’s chill.
“You are Jeralt, the ‘Blade Breaker’, yes? How strange it is to see you in the flesh.” The girl lets out a quiet laugh, hidden behind a hand. Of course, she hadn’t needed to ask. She knows all too well who he is, as though he’s an old friend. Who, in the mind of the green haired girl, he basically is. She’s known him for the entirety of her consciousness, after all.
The only thing strange about this meeting, for her, was her position now, feet planted firmly on the floor rather than lying upon nothing but air. She hadn’t realized just how tall he was, before.
“Ah! Right — this is for you.” Sothis lowers her hand from her mouth to help her other in supporting her gift, presenting him with the small bit of wine that was unreasonably hard to obtain, for whatever reason. Though it is worth it! Hopefully. He likes this sort of thing after all, if she recalls correctly! The strange stares are a small price to pay for making a good impression on the captain.
"I believe the organizers wish for us to exchange charms, as well, correct? In any case; here, ” Further doubling down, she digs out her second gift; a small turtle charm. She doesn’t know exactly how much stake he’s invested in this little game, but what could it hurt? Extra charms bring little harm. “In commemoration of our official meeting. It is a pleasure.”
“That’s me.” A small nod followed by a raise of his brow at her words. He doesn’t recognize her, and he surely would’ve if they met each other before with that unique look of hers. “What’s so strange about it?”
The corner of his mouth perks up at the wine, and he takes the drink with a chuckle. That, combined with the way she speaks to him as if she knows him beyond his reputation makes him a tad curious, but he supposes he’ll let it slide for now. This is definitely just a way for her to get into his good graces. Jeralt watches her pull out a charm, and in turn, he hands her his own out of courtesy. “Wine, huh? Nice to meet you, but you haven’t given me your name yet.”

[ THE DEVIL'S BATH ] - The Viscount's home has a private bathroom with the newest invention in relaxation and funtime— a "jacuzzi" he's calling it. Built into the marble flooring is a large indoor pool of water that has a variety of switches to change the temperature, to add bubbles and whirlpool effects, and to add scents and pretty colors. He's opened it to those who wish to warm up and clean themselves from the storm.
After everything else that had occurred that night, it was nice to have a place to slip off to, once the safety of her friends had been assured, and those who needed her help had been lent a hand. The tales of the technological advancements in the bath technology made her head spin a little bit, but the fact remained: a communal bath house meant warmth, and a chance to wash off whatever the rains had lashed against her.
She slipped through the halls, finding the place where they were located easily enough, and heard a bit of the ruckus coming from inside as she removed her shoes at the door, grabbing a plush robe from the hanger and stepping forward, peeking curiously around the divider between the different sections.
Lyn jerked back as people began to file out, red and ruffled in a way that made it seem like it was from more than just the heat of the bath, and she blinked curiously at the expressions on everyone's faces - what on earth had happened in there? Was that Eliwood?
The final presence out of the bath was, if not a familiar face then an infamous one that she knew distantly as the Knight Commander, and she smiled in a way she hoped was mollifying.
"Er...is the water all right?" What else could she ask, when they all looked as though they had survived battle together? Extending a hand, with her starfish charm in her palm, she added, "I'm Lyn, I'm an assistant professor for the Golden Deer. Just hoping to shake some of the chill."
Jeralt is never playing these games again.
Alright, that's perhaps a slight exaggeration. He did, in fact, enjoy the talk and the company of others–even if he had to give them a story or two about his... less dignified escapades. Still, he’s shown more than enough of his past for one night. There’s no doubt his hot tub companions will be tempted to hold it over his head at some point, he just has to make sure he avoids any of the ‘when’.
One by one, they make their way out of the jacuzzi. The Knight runs a hand through his hair, thinking back to when he was the first to get booted from their game. Lost in his thoughts, he blinks when a woman approaches him for small talk.
“Yeah, it’s fine. Good for relieving tension and all that, as advertised.” He gives the lady a nod and looks down at her palm. Might as well be courteous and take the charm. “Jeralt of the Knights of Seiros. The tub’s all empty, so you've got it all to yourself.”

There’s a brief, yet pronounced tension at the jacuzzi as Shamir hands out a dangerous prompt. Jeralt doesn’t know if he’s imagining things or what, but he can feel eyes lingering on him, watching to see whether he’d admit to doing such a thing. His hand remains unchanged.
“What?” He asks, as if surprised that they would think that he’s crazy enough to actually take a piss in a pool.
The next questions are passed around, and it doesn’t help his case that they are generic in nature. The subject of birthdays is brought up, and Jeralt knows there’s a story somewhere in his head where he once celebrated a birthday alone. Back when he could remember a birthday, when he was younger and memory not as fickle as he believes it is now.
“Bummer. You guys got me.” He lowers his thumb, the last finger standing, and sighs in mock disappointment. “Guess those charms are my consolation prize?”
At least now that he’s out of the ring, he won’t have to answer anymore. Though, he internally shudders at what possible punishment they’re going to come up with after this game ends, if any, besides his secrets spilled within the game alone.

[ SEVEN MINUTES IN HEAVEN ]
From bright lights and an open space to a crowded and dark room. She didn't know what she had gotten herself into as she was pushed into the closet by other party goers who couldn't even tell what was left or right. Sitri's nerves grew from not only the storm but also the fact that she could be here with a complete stranger.
In the dark it was hard to tell who else was here until reaching up towards what she hoped was their face, passing her fingers over familiar features "Jeralt?" She asked, all fear gone and now replaced with a giggly tone. "I am surprised you could fit in here" her touch lingered on his face "Did they trick you in here too? Then I guess these seven minutes won't be as bad as I was worried about..."
Alright, he’ll admit it. He lost a bet.
The good thing is that he was already sober when it happened. The bad thing is that he’s going to be shoved into a confined space in nearly pitch-black darkness with someone he probably wouldn’t know.
He feels delicate hands brush over his beard, tracing his cheekbone then the corner of his mouth. Jeralt thinks to just stay still, let the other person figure out his features. Hopefully this won’t end up being so awkward…
It’s then when he hears a familiar voice, and he lets go of the tension in his shoulders.
“Sitri? What are the chances?” He can’t help but chuckle out of disbelief. Learning that it really is her, he leans into her touch. “They sure did. Not that I mind, after knowing they shoved me in here with you.”
The closet is a bit too small to do anything much, nonetheless he grazes his lips over her hair and kisses the top of her head. “I’m glad you’re safe. I couldn’t stop thinking about you when I got swept away.”

[ CASTAWAYS ]
“Ah… How are you feeling?” The storm had left a good many worse for wear, and until the rain lets up, Sephiran cannot see any of them making it back to the mainland without a great deal of luck involved.
Thus comes the more important task of keeping everyone well enough to wait until that occurs. “I have healing magic if you need any-”
A small jingling sound as he gestures towards his staff, and he glances down. Out of everything to remain-
He cannot help but smile, somewhat amused, “Or a charm, if you’re still in the mood.”
By the feet of that black-haired man lies Jeralt, on the sand and drenched in seawater like an idiot. He’s, fortunately, still alive and kicking, though his body is quite sore from all of this mess.
“I’m good. Thanks.” Jeralt coughs out as he slowly pulls himself up to his feet. He runs his fingers through his hair, trying to ruffle the moisture out of it. There's no injuries that need any healing, aside from the fatigue that's settling in.
Do people still care about these little things when there’s an ongoing storm? At the mention of those charms, he lets out a proper laugh. “If you’re willing to take mine as a token of appreciation, then why not?”

After all that’s happened at the ball, a moment in this so-called jacuzzi is just what Jeralt needs. The warm waters reminded him of the times he spent in the sauna back at Garreg Mach as it relieves the tension in his muscles while donned in just a bath towel.
One after another, his hot tub companions asked their questions, and he could feel his inevitable loss approaching closer and closer. The long years he’s lived gave him a bit too much experience for a game of Never Have I Ever.
In hindsight, joining this game might have been a bad idea.
With every finger he puts down, he can feel their curious eyes glance at him, wanting to know all the stories that he’s experienced throughout his life. Even though they had started off with ten fingers instead of the usual five, Jeralt had already completely lost an entire hand’s worth of chances. He could simply just not show his cards so blatantly for his Knights to see, but there’s a certain thrill in knowing that he’s been there, done that. Still, he at least wants to make an effort to not get kicked out before his turn even starts.
“I know you all have many burning questions for me. Save it for later,” he sighs. Despite the exasperation in his tone, the corners of his mouth are raised slightly. “Let me have a go before we get to that part, alright?”
Well, it’s hard to think of the things he hasn’t done before. And he certainly isn’t joining in on the bets with his current streak. “Hmm…” After taking a moment to think this through, one idea pops into mind.
“Never have I ever… fished with a hook on.”

The storm was far from expected on Jeralt’s agenda.
Just a short while ago, he was enjoying some drinks on one of those ships… Even with him being a strong swimmer, the waves left him with no control over direction nor sight of where it took him. Not only has he been separated from the love of his life, but his entire outfit is all drenched and he’s managed to get himself swept up onto a stray body of land.
Ah, no time to internally grovel over his oversight. What he should focus on right now is the safety of the others stuck here with him. Everyone is cramped under the shelter of this little decrepit shack that fits no more than five people, shivering in the cold in fear and worry. He's sure help will arrive, just not sure when. All he hopes is that nobody gets swept up by the currents again or freezes to death with all this rain. The last thing he wants is casualties.
Jeralt turns to the person next to him. Whether they take the initiative to scout the area out of his view or not, he doesn’t know.
“There’s a group of trees southbound that can work as temporary shelter.” He suggests. “I can’t see any other structures in this rain, though…”
this wasn't on my weather forecast bingo

Her demeanor is regal and calm, as he’s always seen her behave. There’s nothing inherently questionable about her words. But, after working under her for many, many years, he figures she’d make a better liar than him. He must tread carefully.
When he sees her glance, he nods. “It’s a nice change of pace from the usual venue, I admit. I was able to spend some time with Sitri again, too.”
He’s always wondered ever since he decided to leave the monastery back then. Just how involved is Rhea in all the oddities that happened to his family, if it turns out his suspicions are true? What troubles him is that not only does he not know, but that he believes that if he finds out what exactly she did, there’s no turning back. It’s not worth risking himself for that sort of knowledge.
And now, while he is unable to ask her those questions, she has every opportunity to ask her own. But she doesn't. It only leaves him staring out into the sea, hoping they will just share this moment in peaceful silence.
[ RELAX ] - For those looking to take a breather, the cabana located a short ways from the ball's epicenter might be the answer. Take a seat in the chairs lined up side-by-side on the porch and pour yourself a drink from the chilled wine bottle as you have a fine view of the ocean. A white hammock lies inside for those who want to recharge before jumping back into the fray.
Even though he’s all accustomed to small talk and chatter, sometimes, the social battery needs a moment to recharge. Thankfully, the sea breeze is just the refresher he needs to ease up a little, and enjoy the view. As he approaches the cabana to catch a glimpse of the water, he notices someone else standing to the side.
Oh no. Rhea.
He’s already stepped foot underneath the cabana’s roof. Surely, she must have noticed him enter. Already, he’s starting to spin up an excuse in his mind so that he can run off and leave.
“... Didn’t know you’d be here, Lady Rhea.” Jeralt speaks after a moment of silence. “You’re enjoying your time here, I assume?”
Was their meeting simply a coincidence or did Rhea subtly try to create a seemingly natural situation where she’d ‘by accident’ find herself within Jeralt’s direct vicinity? Both. Neither. Who knows. But regardless of the intention (or lack of) behind the circumstances of their meeting, Rhea still eyed the man with nothing but kindness- tinted with a glint of curiosity. She didn’t feel anything particular about the man, if anything only delighted that he was back at the monastery after disappearing into the mercenary life and that supposed fire.
Just the shadow of questions, looming over them both for two decades now.
She offered him a nod in greeting. “Jeralt. I admit it is quite the exceptional occasion, but I could not decline such a kind invitation from Viscount Menja.” Sitting down with a glass of icy lemonde in her hands, she eyed the knight carefully for a moment.
Not now, she decided. They’d have time for that later.
“I am, yes. Not only is the location a much welcome change from our customs for the Ethereal Ball, but it is too an opportunity for many to finally rest and enjoy a moment of peace after so many difficult moons.” Taking a sip of her drink, her gaze met his’ again. “And how about you, Jeralt?”

A case of bad blood, huh. He can tell the young man’s telling the truth, at least. After Darios is done explaining and apologizing, Jeralt shakes his head. “Not just me, but the rest of the Knights of Seiros.”
There are some moments where the Knight wonders why he’d been chosen back into such high authority after all he’s done. He isn’t exactly the best role model around, even if his reputation precedes him. But, a job is a job, and his duty is to impart whatever wisdom he’s gained from this life to whoever needs it.
“I’m not expecting every knight to be the perfect spitting image of all that’s good and pure, but there’s a level of tact you must exercise when you’re in this position. There are people counting on us.” Another sip of his drink. “If they see us treat others with aggression, then they’ll be less inclined to rely on our help when push comes to shove.”

“Don’t worry about it. I’m just here to chat.” And to get some alcohol into his system. Though, that’s not relevant to the situation right now. He takes a sip, letting the concoction flow down his throat before moving on. “Thought it was about time I find a nice place to indulge in some drinks.”
Is it a wise choice? Probably not.
Jeralt joins Darios and looks out to the sea, one elbow resting over the railing. He takes a whiff of the sea breeze. “I got an anonymous report about you getting into a scuffle with one of the professors. Is that true?”

Already there’s some reports he’s heard from a few of the Knights stationed here. Most are relatively easy to handle, all things considered–usually a case of drinks getting spilled, or drunk people who require escort to a place where they won’t put themselves into a compromising situation.
There is one report in particular that catches his attention. One that involves one of the Knights that he’s familiar with. It's, frankly, not much of a deal either to him, but with nothing else on his agenda, he decides to bring it upon himself to investigate. Pull the guy over onto one of those large ships, have a casual chat and a drink. Killing two birds with one stone.
Luckily for him, he already sees the man getting onboard without the need to invite him. All he needs to do is follow suit and look for the right opportunity.
With the pleasant jazz and only his second martini in hand, Jeralt figures he has more than enough energy to start a conversation. He approaches the black-haired knight as he’s by the railing of the ship on his lonesome.  “Enjoying yourself at the ball?”

This man vaguely reminds him of one of those Faerghan nobles, now that he’s got a better look at him. He can’t quite put his finger on the name, though.
Ah, he doesn’t care much anyway. A dance is a dance.
After they successfully come to an agreement, Jeralt leads him towards an empty spot on the floor and gets into focus. Maybe it would help him if he thought of this as an actual duel. Get into the mindset of a real soldier in battle.
ROLL TO DANCE! [20]
As the music begins to pick up, Jeralt takes note of the tempo. His footsteps weave around the armored fellow, re-enacting the way a warrior would dodge and swing their weapon. He is definitely not dressed to fit the vibe of such a dance, but his movements are sharp and quick nonetheless, tugging at the redhead’s arm and pulling him to his other side without letting go.
“You look awfully serious.” Briefly, he raises a brow at him while spinning himself behind the armored man's back. “Forget about my title. Just dance and have fun, will you?”
