First and foremost, I want to say that I never thought that I would make it this far, I am almost in disbelief and I am proud of myself for making it through this journey. This course was an eye opener for me, simply because of the fact that so much goes into starting a company. I expected to finalize my business plan in this course but what I received was a lesson in how to properly set up my startup cost for my business. My goal was to perfect my business pitch and gain more confidence in my brand through this course and I have to say that the instructor helped with that a lot. His constructive feedback helped me see my mistakes and made me reevaluate my financial strategy. Needless to say, my goal was met and then some, I was able to set up a financial strategy that I can have confidence in. What I learned from this course was how to go into details when discussing my business strategy as well as how to deliver my 1-minute pitch to a potential investors. I learned the key items that investors look for when you are discussing your business proposal and I also learned that no matter what idea you have, you should go for it. Do your research and go for it, you never know what opportunities lie ahead for you. After watching the interviews with Jayson I learned that some of the traits and key items that he was discussing have been a part of me for a while. I always try to remain humble and I always try to remain professional wherever I go. I will make sure to keep my business plan going and I will keep remaining professional and humble in all aspects of my life. This course has gave me the skill of financial budgeting on a business level and for that I am truly grateful.

This course for me was an interesting one, I have never had to manage anyone before, at least when it comes to talent. I have, however, held a manager position so I knew a little bit about dealing with different people coming into it. This course has taught me a lot that I can use to my advantage in the industry. Although it deals with mainly the music industry and how to manage your talent or artist, some of the material can certainly be transferred to any segment in the entertainment business. Film, sports, and music can all benefit from social media and technology, which is something that was talked about this month. I learn that one of the keys to running a successful business is that you have to know your audience and cater to them. A local group of loyal customers can sometimes be more beneficial than a national group of customers that ask for your services or products some of the time. I learned that sometimes in this industry you will deal with difficult people, and you have to know what type of approach you have to take with each individual. Relating to your talent or in some cases your customer can make a bridge of connection between you and them, that way you can earn their trust and when it comes to trust in a relationship, there is no telling how far you can go, whether you’re dealing with a talent, an artist, or just trying to get customers to be interested in a product you are selling. This course has taught me a lot about Product and Artist Management, and I plan on taking the knowledge that I’ve gained and applying it to my future business. This course helped me create something of a real planner for products within my brand/business that I might want to sell to bring in more revenue. It was a challenge for me because I haven’t done one before but I learned a lot from it, the steps and procedures that I have to take in other to run a successful campaign for an event or show that I might have coming up. The video that we were required to watch taught me about some of the best practices to use when it comes to distribution and putting your work out there and I learned that authenticity plays an important role in social media posting. Overall I had a great time in this course and I thank my instructor for everything she has taught me.

I won’t lie, this course was a real challenge for me. It made me explore my preferred industry even more than what I normally do. But I don’t regret anything for a second. I already had a sense of time management and how to pace myself when it comes to individual projects but this class has helped me break that down even more. It has taught me how to make a strategic plan and how to properly execute it. The personality assessments have taught me that although I have some great traits there are some other ones that I need to work on in order to be truly successful. I have learned the proper steps to successfully lead a team and also how to resolve any conflict that may come my way. I also learned how to prevent certain risk that may occur during my project. It has been my dream to work in films, I admire how a film can fill us with so much emotion in only a few hours. The hard work and dedication that goes into that is something that I’ve wanted to be a part of for a long time. Completing this course has been one step closer to turning that dream into a reality. I am the type of person that likes putting a smile on someone’s face and I feel like films are the best and creative way for me to do so. I have learned many useful resources in this course that I plan to take with me as I continue on this journey to Mastery. So far I have learned what traits and Laws I should follow in other to make it to the top and also how to make a structured plan of everything that I want to do. I have a higher sense of budgeting now because of this course and also a better understanding of how to work with a team of people that have different personalities. Each person must be approached in a different way but all must be treated with respect.

I think the style that is best for me would be The Greene style of leadership. Following his Laws of Power can help me get to where I need to be in terms of leadership, and if I would of used some of the Laws some time ago I'll probably be in a much different position than I am now. I've always been an instructions type of person, that is one of the reasons I am taking this program, I want to branch out and lead more because I believe I have the personality for it. While Maxwell has some great points on the traits of leadership and the 5 points of leadership, I feel like Greene's style is for me because it breaks down each law and I can relate a scenario to most of them. For example, when he talks about Law 3: Conceal your intentions, the way I interpret this is that not everyone needs to know your next move. It is sad to say but there are people out there who want to see you fail, they have no intentions on supporting you and every single one of your ideas they shut out. I like this law because I like to prove people wrong. By not letting anyone or everyone know your intentions you have the element of surprise. Feels good to work hard in silence and just come out successful to some people out of nowhere. Another Law that I can relate to is Law 5: So much depends on your reputation- guard it with your life. I am very big on image, I feel that you should always put your best foot forward, if not in any situation than definitely in first impressions. Believe it or not, at interviews sometimes the interviewer will decide if they want to hire you just by the way you look. I always make sure to try to hold a respectable image, I want people to take me seriously and not look at me as some type of joke. I have been trying to get a decent job in my field of studies since I gave attained my Bachelor's, I knew it was going to be difficult but it has been a year and I still find myself working a 9-5 in an area that I am not interested in. I hope this program can help change that I plan on using Greene's 48 Laws of Power to get me to where I want to be.

Mastery Journal  “Every Struggle in your life has shaped you into the person you are today” Everyday I wake up and look at where I currently am in life I always get amazed about how far I actually came. This course experience was a little odd for me, being the fact that I am taking the last course in the program now because the month that I am suppose to Graduate Peter will have a bubble. I am glad that I took this course early because I have learned so much about the business aspects of film. This course really opened my eyes, not just about how to market your film after finishing it, but also about film studios in terms of stock and in terms or box office results. I can apply the things I learned in this course to my personal life by marketing myself to different employers and how to brand myself better so I can get in this industry. Although I am not done with the program just yet I feel like this course has helped me get a clearer picture of what to expect during the rest of my journey in this program. I always thought movies were amazing so when i decided to pursue my Masters I knew that I would have to step up my game and work ethic. This course has taught me that if there is anything I should take from it is how to exploit my work ethic and carry myself in manner where i know people will recommend me for more work. I learned how to be resourceful and utilize all of the available talent I have around me. I learned how to be a team player and how to work efficiently with others, this course showed me that networking plays a major key on how successful you’ll be in this industry. I know i have a few ways to go before i actually get to that Masters Degree but I have worked hard to get to where I am and I don’t play on stopping anytime soon.

The short film that I have filmed is titled Elavtor by Greg Glienna, it is a comedy about a man in an elevator with a bunch of strangers and his paranoia starts to get the best of him. The premise of the film to me I would say is Comic relief, he switches elevators because it is a 2000 capacity limit and there were mostly overweight people on it. The theme I would say is karma, he switches elevator because he judged the people by how they looked and he guessed their weight only to end up in a worse position. The genre of the film is comedy, even though it showed an irony between both elevators the music and facial expressions are what made me laugh at it. The tone of the film is comedic relief, only because at the end of the film the music gave off a sort of light hearted essence. The only inciting incident that was in the film was when the man already calculated the elevator was over capacity and he say that an incredibly overweight man was about to get on and that's where he drew the line and got off the elevator. I guess you can say that was the climax as well, the resolution would of been when he got on an elevator with average weight people but the plot twist was that those people had the swine flu and that ended up being worse. There wasn't much Production design put into this short film, the only thing that was really needed was the elevators. I don't think any special hair or makeup was needed for this short. The focal length of the film was fairly thought out, the way they zoomed in on the guys head after the person sneezed behind him and then you can see when a piece of snot got caught on his hair and fell down to the back of his neck. The lights was good. It seems like they just used natural light from the elevator. Camera movement was well, they kept it short and just did a lot of jump cuts. When it comes to the music and editing of this short, I feel like it is what brought the whole film together, the music gave off a humorous feel while the editing of the slow motion and close up to the gentleman showed that there was some concern but it wasn't a serious matter. I chose this short film because I am trying to give off the same tone in my film. Although it deals with peer pressure I want to audience to know that it is not a serious matter. My film's strength will come from mostly dialogue and music. The only challenge I believe my film will have is finding a nice hotel room to act out the party scene. It shouldn't be hard but I want to make sure that we find out that fits the vision I have for the scene. When it comes to props the only thing that I might find challenging is making something that looks exactly like the poop described in the script but I'm sure some Nutella will do the trick. When it comes to cinematography my inciting incident would be my character being drunk in the bathroom and my plot point would be him laying in the grass with his pants down to his ankles and the resolution would be him promising hisself that he will never get that drunk again. As far as the music I want it be on a positive vibe, humorous but cool at the same time. When it comes to editing I plan on using a lot of sequence shots, jump cuts, and close ups to catch the ambiance of the film. For example in my sequence shots, I would have my character taking a shot of liquor back to back six times, to ensure that he is getting very intoxicated. In my close ups I would zoom in on my character’s face while he is in the bathroom to ensure that he is regretting the shots that he took.

Downfalls
The lowest time for me has to be the year of 2015, only thing I could say that went right for me that year was that I had a car, Thank God. But it was so hard, it was the first summer I spent away from home and I must say it was hard and also a big eye opener. That summer I found myself homeless, and barely making ends meet. Some nights I would have to sleep in my car, but by the grace of God i bounced back. And at that point I vowed that I would do anything, ANYTHING to never go back to that point in my life again. I went from being homeless and barely passing classes, to taking a 24 credit overload, working two jobs, and having my own place. So my message to you is, no matter how hard things may SEEM, don’t worry the comeback is always better than the downfall.
