AAAAAA THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! You did a great job on everything in this piece!! ;v;
Finished a piece for a good friend of mine @blazingreshi !
This fellow is Vulkaan, their OC, who you can find working in a Pokemon nursery. Though ‘nursery’ goes both ways - he takes care of grass-type pokemon up for adoption in a plant nursery! So if you’re looking for a grassy friend to join your team, check the place out! You might even find a few stray water/ground types like Wooper that visit now and then drawn to the moisture and the mud that some grassy friends like to frolic in.

So, apparently, I completely forgot that I had a couple of G1s in the back of my lair. Would anyone be interested in them or should I be better off trying to deal with AH or auction ‘em off? Here are the dragons I mentioned down below.
Pink/Strawberry/Rose w/ Wind common. Unbred.
Jade/Auburn/Beige w/ Wind common. Unbred.
Dirt/Cobalt/Sanguine w/ Earth common. Unbred.
Lead/Honey/Amber w/ Wind Common. Unbred.
#Flight Rising#FR#G1#Gen 1#Sorry for the potentially crappy pic layout#I couldn't figure out how to get at least two pics to be side-by-side

Still my favorite story from the Lord of the Rings set: Viggo Mortensen bonded so much with the horse he rode in the movies that after filming was over he bought it from its owner. If that doesn’t warm your heart I don’t know what could.

I’ve been chewing on this idea of just completely purging my lair and doing a lore lair thing/challenge for a few days now. The only issue I’ve been having with this idea is how do I do this. Should I just try to sell my derggos on AH or just exalt ‘em to save my time so I can get started on the thing faster? I just don’t know which option would be the best for me at this point, considering I do have a lot of dragons in my lair.
Any advice or help or comment would help me figure things out sooner! Thank you for your time~

You know being an “ally” (for HOH/Deaf people) isn’t always just talking loudly or learning the ASL alphabet. Its all about the little things you do in every day acts.
For example, when I got my hair done for an event once 5 years ago, my hair dresser noticed my hearing aid and talked to me about her brothers hearing problem and asked if I wanted my hair styled to hide, or show my aid. She wanted what I found to be the most comfortable, because she didn’t want the elaborate hair style to cause feedback/discomfort.
Most hair dressers ignore my aid, or awkwardly ask if I could take it out (which I usually end up doing anyway)
Whenever my friends and I watch TV together without question, they put on closed captions.
When walking and talking some of my friends will always walk, or move to stand on the side of my good ear when talking. (i’m HOH in one ear and perfectly fine in the other)
Another time I was getting my hair cut my hair dresser sometimes would stop cutting, or blow drying my hair just to continue the conversation, so that way I could hear him.
It’s the small details like these that count to support a person with differences. Its not these big boisterous acts of helping, its just being a friend doing friendly things. Instead of glorifying it, just normalize it.

hi!! i ws wondering if u had any advice on picking good colors in art ?? the colors u use always seem to go together really nicely hehe ,,
there’s a lot of really good color theory materials out there that would explain how it all works far far better than i ever could
but i will show you a couple of good tricks i learned along the way that will save you a lot of time and trouble if you don’t like watching/reading loads of theory (which you should still watch/read btw, i’m not saying to ditch it altogether) and more of a practical learner as i am
i often start coloring with simply using an eyedrop tool to choose base colors, it helps to keep the same color relations as the original, that way you won’t end up with white-washed characters or wrong tones of clothing
in case of this drawing the final piece has water right under the characters, so i chose to make palette warmer on the top and colder on the bottom
the easiest way to make a soft, less contrast palette with the same color relations is to add a solid color or a gradient under the lineart; no overlay style, just a semi-transparent layer with color; on the contrary if you want a more contrast image you’d set overlay on multiply etc
colored lineart is optional, really. a lot of times you’ll hear DON’T COLOR/LINE WITH BLACK!!!!!!! that’s fake news, black lineart can make an image pop very well, but it doesn’t work with everything, so choose wisely
there’s two ways to add shadows to your drawing - by adding shadows (duh) or by adding the absense of shadows
i use both ways but since i almost never see anyone mentioning the second one: what i mean by it is you need to fully cover your characters in solid shadow and then erase the parts with light
a lot of artists choose the color of shadow individually for every part of the drawing - skin, hair, clothes etc; i personally like to choose one color for shadow and
one whole shadow layer not only saves you a ton of time, unlike choosing color individually, but it also means you can freely play with the color of it, which can affect your image A LOT
now back to the main palette! this trick is for photoshop only as far as i know
PS has 2 really helpful overlay styles - Hue and Color and as the names suggest it changes the hue or color of your image based on the color above it
PS also has a fun thing called Gradient Map (Image -> Adjustments -> Gradient Map) that converts the monochrome tones into ANY colors of the same relation
the last trick i’ll show you is particularly useful when you’re too lazy to color the lineart
i fill base colors by using paint bucket tool, it’s simple and fast, but it also means no colors under the lines
which is annoying but what can you do right? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ actually there is something you can do! here’s a step-by-step
that’s all that comes to mind for now, hope it was helpful in any way! most of these tricks were born out of the notion “how do i produce a really good image with as much saved time and actions as possible”, which probably won’t do for perfectionists, but to all the lazy artists out there like me - try it lmao

· ✧ * NATIVE STEREOTYPES * ✧ ·
natives have little to no representation in the media and some of you never met a native in real life, so you don’t understand what we’re going through or what we’re like. many people see us as mascots, indian princesses, or magical indians. which is problematic, because we’re human beings. which is why i decided to create this guide to educate everyone on harmful stereotypes and on how to write a native character. i hope this guide is helpful! a like/reblog is always appreciated.

Maui is not obese
Maui is a powerful demigod. Big and strong and… oh, you think he looks fat?

That’s probably because you’ve been conditioned by the media to accept this

as what strong and fit looks like. Amiright?
Sadly… these guys are not all that strong. Yeah, they got muscles… but they aren’t built in a useful way. They are built for looks and that’s about it.
This…

is a strong guy. Actually a competitor in the Strongman competition. But… his tummy sticks out and he doesn’t look like a Dorito.
You know who else is strong?

These guys…
And Maui…

Look at those arms, omg. And that solid, sturdy torso. You can see a shadow where his meat covers his ribs, but he doesn’t look like any slouch to me.
And this guy…

That’s Dwayne Johnson’s grandfather. When the Disney animators showed him their sketches of Maui, he pulled out a picture of his grandfather and showed it to them because he was amazed how similar they looked. This dude was also a pro wrestler.
There’s actually a great infographic about ab muscles and stuff over HERE. but this is the part i want to show you.

Now… look at Maui again.
That thickness don’t move like fat. It doesn’t jiggle and he’s able to flex it. Look at how it sits on his body. It doesn’t sag… he doesn’t have a gut. There’s even a slight V shape to his torso.
It’s just big and not ‘defined’.
And people aren’t used to that.
(sorry, this isn’t the most organized post… i kinda just let it all spill out)
