Mayuri is a mad scientist for mad scientists. No morals, only science! Everything he does is to further his research and inquisitive mind. He's injects surveillance bacteria into his enemies, proving that he's studying people even when not directly interacting with them. Within hours he was able to duplicate all of his internal organs. He's experimented on his sword so not only does Ashisogi Jizō have different strengths every every battle, but also new forms. He always changes the mixture of his poison between battles so when encountering old enemies, they aren't immune (he's even comments on how this is common sense). His entire body is covered in surgical scars from experimenting on himself. He might have a sword, but his body is just as much a weapon as his zanpakuto. His limbs are enhanced to extend, he can pull a scythe from his ear! Not to mention, if he loses a limb, all he has to do is inject himself and it'll grow back immediately. And if his body is incapable of fighting, he will LITERALLY turn himself into goo. This isn't something a shinigami just does; he's modified himself to be able to do all of this. I could go on about all of his feats and inventions, including Nemu! The daughter he created in a lab that went above and beyond his expectations. Nemu, with all of her abilities and heart, is his greatest creation. Mayuri is always ten steps ahead of everyone, his intelligence is only matched by his madness and sadism. He saves the day with his science on several occasions. And every single time, the fans breathe a sigh of relief that he's not the protagonists' enemy. An antagonist early on, yes, but never a villain. And the sole reason for that is because Mayuri isn't good or evil, he's a unethical scientist. A man who only is interested in interesting things and people. If something doesn't interest him, he won't even bother. A man of science through and through!!

Victor Frankenstein:

I mean, he's THE mad scientist. We can't forget him. One thing I find interesting about him is that, in my opinion, he's pretty much just like the main characters in most Greek tragedies, just set in late 18th century Europe. It's mainly because, as he says alot throughout the novel, he brought upon himself his own downfall. He's a very interesting and compelling character, although not a great father, that's for certain.

The original mad scientist. Didn't get a PHD because school was too below him.

(Technically for the movie/"Henry Frankenstein" but I'm counting it) How can we organize this tournament without the classic? Henry is far less of a trembling mess than his book original.

Professor XXXL

Pronounced "Professor Triple Extra Large", this guy is one weird eccentric dude. He has a collection of rare diseases, and has replaced his body with a different animal part every time he appears (Turtle shell, crab claw, tentacles instead of feet, etc.) but his actual goal is just to create the world's most perfect Snow Cone.

Relius Clover:

A gifted alchemist known far and wide as "The Puppeteer." He is the one who turned Ada, Carl's older sister, into the Nox Nyctores Nirvana and also the mastermind behind the Murakumo units.

Dr J. S. Steinman:

He performs grotesque surgeries on unlucky "patients", allowing his nurses to murder them under the belief that the absence of life is the only way to "cure" them.

The Collector:

A human-turned-immortal witch who has dedicated her life to the study of souls. She's trying to find a reliable method of unweaving souls in order to free the trapped and suffering Primordial Life by killing every living thing on the planet, including herself. She's known as the collector because she regularly kidnaps nature spirits for study, but she recently upgraded to city-gods. My favorite part of her characterization as a mad scientist is that her reasons for doing the fucked-up things she does are entirely selfless, informed by having touched the mind of an entity on a planetary scale. The best analogy i can think of is really gross so warning and apologies for that, but it's like a maggot living in a thoroughly rotten human corpse accidentally waking up that human and having their immediate agony and disgust projected into its mind. You know the human could reconstitute themself and go back to a normal life if what used to be their body's cells weren't being used to sustain smaller creatures, so the only moral option is to give back the flesh the maggots consumed. Right?

Dr Linksano:

Okay, the doctorate thing is complicated because Dr. Linksano came from a parallel dimension so whether his doctorate is considered legitimate in the one he now inhabits is up for debate; however, he is always called Dr. Linksano. Anyway, he's a crazy guy who tried to take over multiple worlds, but really just wanted to do experiments and get laid, so he decided to join up with the heroes instead. He's pansexual and polyamorous. He turned a clown into a jukebox. He's crazy and loves SCIENCE!!!

Dr Coyle:

She's rumored to have 52 doctorates. Her alias is 'The Rad Scientist'. She has no hobbies. She's dedicated her life to becoming the strongest ARMS fighter in the world. She experimented on herself in order to achieve this goal and it worked, as she's undisputably considered to be the best character in the game by the competitive scene.

Important Bleach TYBW question for all fans:

For TYBW, is the anime canon or is the manga?

This is not about the contents, it’s not about which you like best, it’s about which version is the “correct” one.

Anime only moments included things like the OG captains, the Reio lore, new fights, Uryu’s abilities, whatever’s going on with the changes to Katagiri, etc. And there’s parts of the manga that were cut out of the anime like Robert Accutrone’s death, that scene with Orihime’s outfit, and smaller character moments.

I’ve seen lots of people say that the anime is more canon because it’s what TYBW should have been, but is that the general consensus? Does that overwrite the manga?

Only one can be canon. You can’t pick and choose parts from each, you have to pick one to be the definitive version of the story.
