Voltron is a Love Story Between Lance and Keith and I Can Prove It

Remember when I posted this?

Well, I bet you thought I was joking, but now I’m gonna put my money where my mouth is.

A few years ago, I made a very shoddily-put-together analysis that I am going to be using the general outline of in the first section of this analysis. I made it kind of in a rush, purely from what I remembered about the show from 7 years ago. There’s a lot I would change about my analysis. First of all, I would spend more time on it, lol. But second, I regret my bad-faith conclusions. I was approaching this idea and the show with some prejudiced opinions about the showrunners, the crew and their ability to tell a story. I regret that now, and I sincerely apologize.

I believe that a good analysis does not dismiss certain choices that the analyst doesn’t like as simply bad writing. I believe that this is a lazy and mean-spirited way of engaging with art. So, I get to do this all over again, removing my previous biases and preconceived notions of what I thought was going on behind the scenes, when in fact I really had no clue, and I am going to try and look at this with fresh, unbiased eyes. I think I made some great points overall, that I am going to add on to here, because on my rewatch I found a LOT more evidence than I initially provided.

It’s gonna take a while, so strap in, get a snack, take breaks if that’s what you need, but we’re gonna do this. I’m going to prove that Voltron is first and foremost about love, but not just any love. Voltron is a love story between Lance and Keith. And I can prove it.

...that's a wrap!

hey all! this feels a bit dramatic, but anything less would be a disservice to the last two years. As some of you may or may not know, I've been running my weekly posts off a queue that's been stocked ahead from periods of high art output. since, I've hit the very natural part of the art cycle where I'm a lot less inspired & run out of posts. In fact, I haven't drawn klance in quite a while! The last few drawings you've seen (minus this one) are from September.

people get busy, fandoms change, and right now I'm just not in a place to keep posting as regularly. I'll still be active & around if you want to say hi, and maybe the inspiration will come back and i'll have some things here and there for you all :-) but largely, I'm taking a break.

I cannot believe how lucky I've been to be part of this community, and it's something I never would have expected. I've made incredible friends, been involved in fantastic projects, run a whole zine (shoutout Cosmic Constant! we're still wrapping that one up, haha), and my art skill has grown phenomenally thanks to these two goofs.

How is the Mad Cave edition different from the 2016 Kickstarter omnibus? The Mad Cave edition is totally different (night and day, sun and moon) from what was printed for the 2016 Kickstarter – the script was rewritten, every page was redrawn, and even the trim size has changed. Vol. 1 is a reboot of the omnibus, while Vol. 2 covers Zarco and Vols. 3 and 4 will be all-new material!

Will the Mad Cave edition be published internationally, or possible to order internationally?  This is really important to me! I’m making moves to have it localized––my agent has a lot of experience in this area––but Mad Cave has world rights and it’s ultimately up to them. In the interim, it should be possible to order the US edition internationally because it will be distributed through mainstream channels via Simon&Schuster (Amazon, B&N, Bookshop.org, etc).
