@weptduty: abelas frowns at the list of names, trying to place each one with the face of an agent. they are able to after a time, but just knowing faces does not help them piece together which agents should be assigned to this particular task. when feyn enters, abelas nods, then turns to him and asks, "who would you suggest be sent on a supply run to orlais? we have need of securing a few things to be distributed to the wider network." send me things

Feyn returned Abelas' nod of greeting, stepping up beside him to peer curiously at the list. Granted he... didn't read it, that would require a longer look than he was prepared to give right now. He was going for something casual, and at Abelas' question, he turned and leaned back against the table, tipping his head up in thought.

"Orlais?" Quite a few names ran through his mind. "Sana would be a good pick to lead, she's been chomping at the bit to prove herself and she knows Orlesian. Demetri is a merchant himself, had a general goods store before it burnt down. He'd know fair prices for the most part, so long as we're not looking for anything too weird."

Lowering his gaze and looking over at Abelas, he raised his brows. "I can think of a few more names to round out that trip, but what're we fetching to begin with?"

rook feyn compels me. having to walk the knife-thin edge between inquisition agent and fen'harel agent, not knowing which is more true, not wanting to be given away for either, wanting to have it all yet not knowing at this point if either fit.

very carefully navigating conversations with solas--of course i want to free you but there's a couple of pressing and urgent matters and you know this could still take time lets multitask. the epitome of "you lied"/"no. i didn't. you just didn't ask the right questions." he focuses on what's most important to who he's talking to--always, always so careful to compartmentalize conflicting relationships. if you thought basic rook and solas were parallels, get a load of this guy--

maybe solas figures it all out. shoves him into the fade prison as comeuppance. or maybe he doesn't--castling only works with a rook and a king, after all.

i was thinking about this last night, but feyn’s a very positive, very supportive person. he focuses a lot on the good and is surprisingly optimistic. there were tough fights where he was nervous for his friends or allies, but if asked, he’ll always say he believed they’ll all make it out of this alive. he wholeheartedly supports people he works with, trying his best to pull up the people around him and help them whatever way he can.

"I'm not hiding anything." It's instinctual, the reply given firm and calm before he even registered that he's talking.

Granted, the fact that blood has soaked through his armor, dribbling and pooling onto the sash at his waist gives away his words as a lie.

feyn’s second older brother, mahanon, has always been more angry and upset at the death of their eldest brother during the blight. he was furious when feyn decided to join the grey wardens and blamed humans for the entire reason why they were in denerim fighting anyway. he eventually left clan isethari for another dalish clan further north.

i think that clan will join elgar’nan’s side and feyn’s companion quest has something to do with it.

feyn, by the time of veilguard, is functionally literate in common. he's far better in elvish, but still struggles with written common. he'll read any letters he receives, but he generally doesn't read books unless he absolutely can't avoid it. he would, genuinely, rather go fight darkspawn than read. that is an actual activity he has picked more than once when asked to read something.

he does, however, enjoy having someone read aloud to him. his participation in book club would rely on someone reading to him, which, in exchange, he'd do their chores.

i do have to say, it's rather clever that solas locked the evanuris in a prison in the fade. like, if they die, they fracture, which he for sure knows about bc of dirthamen and falon'din. he can't risk such powerful beings being reborn, even as fragments. so lock them in the place of their rebirth and seal it shut. even if they die, they'll just get reborn in jail.

Feyn looked up from his mending, first to Bruno, then to the agent he'd gestured to. They'd met briefly--polite, aloof, like most of the folk here when unfamiliar with each other. Bruno was a bit of an outlier, but not one that he minded.

Rubbing at his jaw thoughtfully, he hummed. "With that hairstyle?" He tutted, shaking his head. "Three thousand, minimum. So last millennium."

He struggled to keep his grin in check, so instead turned back to the shirt in his hands. "Didn't you hear? Undercuts were all the rage two thousand years ago. It's finally coming back in style."
