"Do you think I'd let this stay that screwed up?" Terezi questioned with a laugh. She felt the stress from the failed attempts slowly go away. Once in resonance, Terezi found it a lot easier to keep up. "You would have to be crazy to think that."
Okay, So We Need Practice
Karkat felt both the physical and mental connections fulfilling themselves. Finally, they had managed to make it work. For both of them, and actually doing what they meant to do. “Hey, I’ve gotta keep an eye out. If this were as kaput as we were two hours ago maybe we should’ve reevaluated our partnership.” This banter was natural for them, it was how they kept themselves relaxed. It was working, at least for Karkat.

Terezi's grip tightened hon his weapon form. She was proud that they had succeeded this far. "Shame on you Karkat you're not supposed to lose faith on me now." She teased lightly. This felt natural to the meister, doing a soul resonance with her weapon.
Okay, So We Need Practice
This was such a relief. They were working. The resonance was connecting. “Thank God. I thought we might not have worked out.” That sounded a lot more like a pickup line than intended. Shifting into his weapon form, he felt the same rush he usually did when he transformed with resonance.

Terezi grinned as she heard Karkat's voice in her head. "Yes I can hear you. We are actually making progress this time around." A sense of excitement bounced off of her thoughts.
Okay, So We Need Practice
Karkat began their resonance with thoughts, reaching out to the forming ones in his partner’s mind. After they got into nearly full resonance he’d transform into his weapon form and be ready to be wielded, but too soon would make the resonance ever that much harder. “You hear me?”

"Well, I had to work at it, although I don't remember a time where I couldn't at least sense souls around me. My mom is a pretty well known meister though and she taught me most of what I know." Terezi thought about the question before answering it.
Despite being a meister, Sollux was terrible at seeing souls. Well, human souls at least. He could see kishin souls just fine. They were already doomed. Yet, no matter how hard he tried, or how many tutoring sessions he went to, human souls just never clicked for him.
His…

Jane had felt the wavelength almost immediately. Her blue eyes went wide, her mouth opening slightly. “Oh my god.” She muttered. She had never known anything like it. She never knew souls like that could exist. She knew it was a kishin soul, she recognized it from missions she had been on, but it was more.
Just as she was getting everything together, piecing together all the different vibes she had been getting from Callie’s soul, the other girl walked up, and she blinked. “Oh, uh, hello?” She said, questioningly.
"Hello?" asked Callie and, wondering why Jane was greeting her, she opened her eyes and immediately noticed Terezi. She immediately shut her wavelength back down, keeping it rigidly contained once more, before greeting Terezi herself, "Umm, hello there. I-i’m Calliope, and i-it’s n-nice to meet you. W-what brings you h-here?" Then, turning to Jane, she asked, "D-did you get a good f-feel f-for how to s-sense wavelengths, J-jane?"
Terezi gave Calliope a questionable look. "I felt what I thought was a kishin soul. Except there was something a bit weird about it. It seemed to have came from Calliope." She stopped and watched the wavelengths of the two in front of her. They both seemed normal, but Terezi kept a close watch on Calliope's.

Terezi had been walking about looking for a quiet place to sit and read the law book she was holding. Her plans changed as she suddenly felt a strong soul wavelength around 50-60 yard away. A deep frown broke out on the girls face as she ran towards the source of the wavelength. Probably not the smartest thing to do by herself but she wasn't exactly thinking too hard at that moment.
When she got to the park a confused look fell over her face. The source of the energy seemed to be coming from the small weapon in front of her. The wavelength seemed to be that of a kishin egg, Terezi could tell that much. It however didn't seem like it was an evil soul. She stood dumbfounded at the fact that she couldn't figure out what was going on with Calie's soul. "How is that even possible?" Terezi muttered. A good kishin, she had never heard of that being possible.
All her life growing up, Jane had always been told she had a hardy soul. A genuine soul that would always show through in a tough situation. She had always been told that she was a...

"I'd be able to see your soul if you had one." A joking tone filled Terezi's voice."From up here you can see for so far out though. You can't tell me that the view from way the hell up here isn't cool." Terezi looked at him a bit expectantly.
Terezi could distinguish a variety of different kinds of souls. Whether it be kishin, witch you name it she would probably be able to tell you what it looks like. Thats mainly because the only way she can get around easily is by using the wavelengths that come off of the souls.
Despite being a meister, Sollux was terrible at seeing souls. Well, human souls at least. He could see kishin souls just fine. They were already doomed. Yet, no matter how hard he tried, or how many tutoring sessions he went to, human souls just never clicked for him.
His weapon partner on the other hand could see human souls, kishin souls, witch souls, dead and/or dying soul energy: you name it. Even though their team could pick up on more diverse soul wave lengths than any average team, Sollux still felt like a shit meister.
Terezi however relied on seeing human souls just to live her everyday life. She was amazing. He was too much of a prick to ever admit that, but she honestly was.
He watched her ‘look’ around the city from the entrance of the Academy, amazed at how a single person could do that, when she whipped around and almost ran straight into him.
"Shouldn’t you be able to see my soul?" he retorted, an equal amount of sarcasm in his voice. "Seriously, TZ, stop watching hobos from down the street and start paying attention to your immediate surroundings. You might bump into someone." He playfully shoved her to make a point.

The Blind Girl Sees All Sometimes
Terezi found herself going up the many stairs that were in front of the Academy. she stood at the top of the staircase and concentrated on the area around her. She could feel the souls around her for quite a ways from up there. It gave her a perspective of the city around her, soul wave lengths bouncing off of the buildings and coming back to her.
While she was busy ‘looking’ at the souls she didn’t notice the soul approaching from behind her. She blinked once or twice before turning around to go into the Academy and just about ran into the person who was coming from behind her.
"Woah, warn the blind girl you are approaching jeeze." A grin played across the youngest Pyrope’s cheeks.

Terezi took a deep breath and nodded. "Alright lets do this." She made sure to keep a hold on Karkat's hand. Normally her thoughts were in Spanish, but she made a point to think in English so she could be understood by her partner. This was going to be the time they successfully resonated, she was determined.
Okay, So We Need Practice
Karkat did his best to once again hone in on Terezi’s soul, finding the wavelength and trying to get ready to match it once more. He never had a problem fixating himself on one soul. He took deep breaths as he did so, concentrating.
"Ready when you are." They were going to resonate, this time. He grabbed her hand so that she’d be ready to immediately have him at the ready once he turned into his weapon form and their thoughts became linked like they always did whenever they managed to succeed in resonance.

Terezi shot a glare at Karkat for his snark. "I was planing on it dumbass." She took a deep breath before concentrating on Karkat's wavelength. She tuned out the other souls she could sense around her, trying to cancel out the distractions around her.
"Lets do this." Her voice was full of determination. She sent her wavelengths out to him, keeping a calm air around herself. She was determined to get this right this time. She evened out her breathing and kept her 'sight' Karkat.
Okay, So We Need Practice
Karkat got frustrated easily, but calming down wasn’t exactly a foreign subject. He could calm down fairly easily, given that the source of aggravation was either lessened or gone. And this wasn’t going away, so he was mentally just telling himself to deal with it and doing everything else he usually did to cool off.
"Well we’d better get on that soon." The snark was probably not helpful in the situation, but as a coping mechanism it was currently A+. At least, on his end of the deal. He wasn’t going to stop anytime soon. He hated being proven as anything less than his sister-like aunt Kanaya, who had almost immediately been able to resonate with her partner.
He hadn’t had enough practice resonating, so there was that element of inexperience. His determination, and Terezi’s, would likely overcome that eventually. “Ready when you are.” He shut his eyes, knowing that it would be easier for him to concentrate, not that the same trick applied to his partner very easily. She saw souls no matter what, despite being blind.

Terezi gritted her teeth together for a second took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. Step one down, partially. She was as calm as she was going to get for the moment.
"I agree we won't get anywhere if we can't resonate." Her voice stayed calm, although she did add a sigh at the end. She was determined to get this down, and she wasn't going to give up nor would she let Karkat give up. She was good at seeing souls and was equally as good at telling what a person was like based on their soul.
Soul resonating was a completely different story. It took a lot more thought and concentration to resonate than to read or see a soul. She took a deep breath and formed a plan. Her plan was to let herself be open to his wavelengths before syncing herself to them.
"Alright lets try this again."
Okay, So We Need Practice
Karkat was practicing soul resonance with Terezi. And so far…they were both failing. Epically. They had been able to resonate before, that’s why they’d been able to be partners, and good partners they could be, but sometimes they just. Argued. Not even with words, but with their souls. And that was the worst. Frustration did not translate easily with this weapon.
"Can we try again? Seriously it’ll get us nowhere if we can’t even resonate when we need to." His voice was a bit of a groan, dragging out. This was not working well, and he really wanted to get this going. Like actually practicing technique, and putting his weapon form to use for something. He’d spent most of his life feeling pretty useless as a weapon. At least Kanaya, who happened to be the same age as him, had gotten a weapon partner, and they’d started hunting kishins.
He did like being Terezi’s partner, they were pretty good friends and tended to get along. Until it came to actually trying to work together in a fight. He just hoped they wouldn’t start having tests or things at the academy because they still needed plenty of time for practice and for practical studying. He tried to take a deep breath, like Grandma Rosa had told him to do. “I’m ready when you are.”
