Happy holidays!! I got @spirit-town for it, and they have been lovely answering my asks, even though i’ve been busy, so here we go! I hope you enjoy it!!

Pairing: Kenma Kozume x GN! Reader

Title: A soft moment in Time

The last thing you expected as a surprise, was Kenma sitting in front of a sink, staring at a bottle of pink hair dye and gloves. As you enter the room, he turns to look at you. 

“Want to help me dye my hair?” he asks, catching your eye in the mirror with a smile. You can’t help but smile back as you step inside the room, walking up behind him and wrapping your arms around his neck. “Of course I do.” You say back, smiling at him and pressing a kiss to his cheek as he laughs softly. You pull away from him and take the gloves, putting them on and opening the bottle for him. You spread some onto your hands and gently start putting it into his hair. “Don’t get any on my skin” He says, and you smile softly. 

“Trust me a bit, would ya?” You joke and he only laughs, leaning into your touch.

As you massage the dye into the strains, you look over his shoulder and watch him play Pokemon on his switch. When you finish with half the hair, you press a kiss to his cheek. 

He turns and catches your lips in a simple kiss, and you smile, turning on some music and starting to dance slightly as you put more dye onto your hands, taking care to spread it evenly throughout his hair.

Kenma smiles at you in the mirror between cutscenes, fingers nimbly navigating the game as you take your time with his hair. You take it slow, taking your time to press kisses to his cheek between passes of the dye.

“We should’ve bleached it first” Kenma says over the music, and you giggle, shaking your head as you look at him through the mirror.

“I think the roots add to the hair, love.” You reply simply, kissing his cheek as you giggle. He blushes and looks away from you, causing you to laugh softly and kiss his cheek again. “You’re such a sap.” he says quietly, cheeks red as he looks at you in the mirror out of the corner of his eye. Your cheeks flush too and you focus back in on his hair, putting the last of the dye in as your blush calms down. 

All Kenma does is smile, and you kneel next to him, waiting for the dye to set. As time passes, you watch him play and occasionally take over, hitting controls.

Once the dye is done, your phone goes off and you shut the alarm down, getting to your feet and offering him your hand. “Let’s go get the dye washed out, okay?” You suggest, and he nods, stepping towards the shower with you as you smile at him kindly.  “Okay.” He replies, offering his hand to you, and you take it, following after him, like you will for as long as he’ll let you.  ☼

It takes a few minutes before you both emerge, steam on the mirror covering your reflections. He wipes it off and gazes at his face in the mirror, eyes roaming the pink. He turns to look at you and smiles.

“Do you like it? I chose your favourite colour” he says, and you smile, fingers running through the pink.

“I love it, just like I love you” you reply simply, and his cheeks flush. You take his hand after you’re both dressed, and the two of you make your way to the bed, snuggling up underneath the colours. Your eyes stay stuck to the pink on the pillow, trailing the strands that splay out from his head.

“What?” He asks, and you blush.

“You’re just handsome.” You reply, kissing his cheek and snuggling closer to his warmth, eyes shutting.

“Thank you for helping me” He says, kissing the top of your head softly, causing you to hum happily. 

“Anything for you” You say quietly, tiredness taking control of your voice, but he smiles and holds you close, his hands playing with his switch as you drift asleep.

The very last thing you notice as you drift off to sleep is his hair, the pink filling your vision as you fall into a deep sleep, feeling him kiss your head one last time.

“Sleep well” He says, and you barely hear him, mumbling incoherently back before everything goes dark and your mind spins a dream.

omg i actually started watching the dub out of curiosity haha and it's so funny!! i might honestly prefer the dub to the sub in terms of content i guess? im a native english speaker so hearing them talk like actual high school students throws me into a loop and it makes me relate to them more haha. hope your schooling is going okay :) - hq secret santa

No way!! omg i started with the dub. I have a need to multitask (like watching a show and gaming at the same time, or needing music to just walk down the street) so I prefer dub because i (as a native english speaker) can grasp plotlines and such better!!

The dub rlly makes u feel like they could be practicing in your schools gym that moment and i loved that about Haikyuu!! dub. Especially since i watched (and finished) the parts of the dub that were out back in January (almost a whole year ago!!)

I did well in school!! passed my classes, but gotta follow up with a teacher on one since my marks arent amazing in it (tho im not the only one)

I hope you have some great holiday plans!

hi secret santa!!! i know you've been busy but have you been keeping up to date with the anime? the final episode is airing a couple hours from when i send this message and i'm honestly so excited. i've been spoiled to how it ended but i don't read the manga so i'm just excited to see how it all pans out!! im supposed to watch it wth my friends but they get off work later than me so part of me is like.. secretly wanting to watch it before they do aha -hq secret santa

Hi!! No I’m not watching the final ep haha. I read the manga fully and i don’t have a crunchyroll acc. I also just,,, prefer dub to sub so I have to wait a bit longer to watch eps the way i like (which im fine with!! the wait makes it fun) I hope you enjoyed it, and that your friends did too!

I think that they’re probably low-key. A lot of quiet nights in, teaching Iwa how to play games and get better, or watching movies. Iwa prolly cooks while Kenma keeps things tidy, and if they do leave the house, Iwa’s sort of a rock for Kenma in unfamiliar situations and a light as to how to navigate them. They’d be one of the first to leave from a party, wanting to head home and just be with eachother. It would take them awhile to tell the other how they feel, and Oikawa/Hinata/Kuroo would be forces to push the two together, giving advice on the others feelings. A lot of red cheeks and careful movements would be a foundation for a stronger relationship.

do you have any colors you’d associate with their ship in itself?

Yea! Definitely Red/Teal, contrasting colours, or maybe even warmer hues.

I saw in your preferences for your gift,, you said you liked iwaken! now I absolutely adore iwaizumi (he's my favorite character) and love literally every ship he's in but I have to admit I've never seen iwaken! what's appealing about their ship/potential relationship to you? :) do they have any aesthetics? - hq secret santa

Hahaha yea im a huge fan of iwaken. This fic is what set me onto them and i’ve been stuck on them since (and even started writing my own fic for them lol) Other than them I rlly enjoy Kuroken, Tsukihina, Mastuhana, IwaOi, DaiSuga, and Yakunoya. Tho Kuroken/iwaken/daisuga is definitely a comfort ship for me.

ahh i wish u luck on your first semester in college then and on any exams you have left!! :') i was there before LOL and i hope you're coping well with covid ;; it must be hard being a student at this time because of how classes are somehow supposed to be remote and yet everyones still lacking the face to face time ur usually afforded when you have in person classes - hq secret santa

Yes exactly!! Thank u for the kind words!! Its been rough but my classmates and I (31 of us total) made a discord so we can chat whenever we want and help eachother on projects!! I’m in a College program (different from american college, In canada Colleges typically give out diplomas/advanced diplomas) so there’s about 31 people in my program and we all have the same courses so its been easier!

life has been so wild & busy for me in my program & i’m tryin my best to write but like 99% of my days are spent in Adobe Illustrator / the Adobe Suite and the other 1% is split between Eating, sleeping, HQC stuff, and socializing with my floormates so i have had so little time to write!

i’m tryin my best but idk when my next writing will come out :P
