Gloved hands pat her shoulder as he guides her back down for her head to rest on his thigh.

    Her eyes were slowly getting used to the dark–she’s thankful for the soft glowing lights from the thorns of judgement.  It was strange to be grateful for something so foreboding, but with the dim yellow and blues it let her see the scenery around her.  

    With no memories of the past, everything was a new experience.  Even walking in an underground tunnel seemed to be an interesting sight for her.  True, there was nothing but spiked rocks, and the thorns themselves but something about it was interesting to her.  

    As he chuckles, she looks away from the plain scenery to notice the soft squeeze he gives her hand.  She mimics his action, a small smile forming beneath her mask.  

    “Leave it to me–It’s what I’m here for, right?”  Kaede mimics his reply with a small chuckle as she continues to follow the other.  If they weren’t on a mission, or following a goal, it would be a nice walk–no lost, or danger waiting to jump out at them with weapons ready.  

    “Should we head back to base once we find one?”

His reply is casual, more joking than serious.  Wherever they were led to next by the mistle and the blood tree’s roots would probably be their last expedition for the day.  Just getting to a new area and finding the first mistle would be enough for now;  progress was progress after all.  

He slows down his pace so he can walk by her side, swinging their hands playfully in muted interest.  Gold gaze glances towards hers as he give her a hidden smile from under his mask.

 He counts in his head before finally exhaling loudly, a cough being muffled by his mask.  He had seen part of the ceiling giving way and had reacted on instinct; pushing the woman out of the fall zone and getting caught in it instead.  

It’s been awhile since he’s died.  Or at least almost.  

Five.  Six.  Seven.  Eight.  

The revenant forces his body up, wincing in pain as he shoves the rock off of his torso.  Finally, air reaches his lungs as he sits up, a grunt being the only sound he makes. A hand comes to check that his mask was still attached--  

❝ Ah...That hurt more than I thought it would. ❞    

Comes his muttered comment as he exhales a sigh.  A fist comes up to his chest, before giving his body a bump--and at once he feels his regeneration kick-starting, mending whatever broken bones, ribs or bruises that he had gotten.

He pauses, looking at their entwined fingers.  As if to show he heard her, he gives her hand a light squeeze in return.

The underground path that would lead them to the next area was dark and cave-like; stalagmites marked their path while only the dim lighting from the thorns lit their way deeper underground.  He led the way this time around, carefully guiding Kaede as gold gaze kept watch for any holes that could lead down into the abyss he knows is under their feet.  

A chuckle sounds from him as he gives her hand another squeeze.

His tone is playful and teasing whilst his gaze keeps glancing at the other revenant.
