i actually hate the way i’ve dropped balance and it needs to be restructured as i originally had it, which is a lot of tedious ass work. but hey, it is what it is. y’all got a sneaky peak. i wanted to drop the rest of my ocs from the fic, so here is tsubaki’s team:

ama

water bender from the north pole. daughter of amak and yuki (oc). niece of ataut. grew up with her mom and aunt studying healing, as they are the doctors in the capitol city. my version of ataut also fights, and has passed this down to her niece. ama has a big fat lesbian crush on tsubaki. her disposition is a bit april ludgate

gewa

an airbender from the western temple. her father was a water tribesman. tattooed at age 20. at 21, she sought to try out techniques used by avatar yangchen, that were deemed forbidden, in order to heal. subsequently, she was banned from the temple itself and looked down upon by her peers, as her intentions were twisted. gets no bitches bc she wants no bitches (aro/ace)

yongqi

a firebender from one of the royal cities. his uncle, with whom he was very close, was a high ranking fire nation official who was rumored to be assassinated by amak (he was). in his quest for revenge, he loses his mind, is stripped of his status, and banished from their city by his family. a bit mentally unstable innit. token heterosexual. intro is meet me in the woods by lord huron but like the Dark Version

meet jinora!

she is tsubaki’s childhood best friend and love interest. she is an airbender. her father is an air nomad that settled in the upper ring of ba sing se, after he fell in love with a wealthy earth bender. she is eager to get her air bending master tattoos because her father never did. she and tsubaki study and practice all the time, and jinora finds a few techniques she is interested in learning and mastering in order to achieve her goal. at age 18, jinora heads to the southern air temple to continue her journey.

meet our protagonist, tsubaki!

she is an earthbender from the upper ring of ba sing se. she spent much of her youth studying bending non-traditionally, and shaping her own by using the disciplines of all four elements. she and her best friend, jinora, study and spar together almost every day after school. tsubaki likes to experiment with earth in all of its forms. by the time she is 18, she is a very proficient bender.

her parents decide to kick her out at age 18. she makes her way to the lower ring of ba sing se, and gets by doing odd jobs. she meets a lot of interesting people passing through, but eventually, she starts to feel a bit stifled.

at age 22, she has a revelation that changes everything. she needs to travel to agna qel’a, north pole, for more literature. the people she meets along the way help change her life for the better.
