Of couse there are not. Christianity brought a dark era upon our great history, trying to erase it completly by replacing our idols with a wrathful god. Well, not that our gods are calm beings... But you get the point. And how dare you call stupid sinful people my stupid sinful people! We don't need you little silly letters, you can keep them, sons of a snake! Well, no maybe that's a compliment... Our greatest hero is son af a snake after all. Well, fuck you, both of you.
"Ok, but what are you sources?"
The source? I was there to see Vladimir sin before he was considered a saint, I talked with the snake father of Vol'ga Vseslav'evič, I saw the people pray and making sacrifices to the upyri and the beregyni, I was there seeing Vasilija the Beautiful err and fall into the traps of Baba Jaga.
The sources is that I fucking made it. I AM the source.

What a magnificent piece of art! Too bad that my dear friend got against me in his poem... I wonder if he's still around.
youtube
I'm just going to post this here, first of all because I've been listening to it obsessively for the last month, second of all, consider it a little sneak peek for a friend who will soon join Tumblr 👀

I could, yes, narrate all the HORRIBLE things he did to me and the people living in these wild lands. I believe that a good narration, accompanied by the magnificent sound of a music instrument, is the best way to represnt the history of pur times and the one of the people living before us. But my successors, in the mean poem you quoted, didn't really appreciated my fantasy. So, my friend, I formerly invite you to the clearing where my house is located, so I can sing the nefarious acts this man commited to my detriment.
(Note: he owe me six sheep, a female cow, two bottles of Living and Whole Water, a lost bet and his damn ass)
Tell Koščej I have something to say to him. He keeps ignoring my messages but I know you are alive. Fucker.

That's it, my dear friend! A story is better if people can experience it with their heart! Do not let yourself down in front of such an absurd text - people doesn't know how full of bullshit it actually is. I was there, trust me.
Speaking with my thesis supervisor I once mentioned how funny it was in hindsight that in the Povest' every process requiring time is simply... Not described.
Ol'ga and her revenges? They happened.
Vladimir sending and receiving messengers to and from Byzantium? Described as if they were chatting on WhatsApp.
Any kind of long, exposing bit of history? Yeah it's a thing that definitely was once.
I want the embarrassing bits of the Povest', the awkward wait in Cherson while the message had to arrive to Byzantium and an answer had to be issued back, give me that shit.

I highly recommend you to go and run into a forest of tall trees, touch the grass with you bare hands and and drink from the pure waters of the rivers. Trust me, the Nature is everything you need to - those strange structures you call "a holy place" exist only in the depths of your heart.
Ah yes, fuck the monastery.
I'm seriously considering retiring in a monastery to be wholly immersed in nature; I've been doing it for the last few days and I've never worked so well on my thesis.
