Air pollution its causes and effects on the human race
CAUSES OF AIR POLLUTION
In a situation where air pollution is becoming the reality of the day and that we have to live with it anyway, whether we like it or not, the question arises, has clean air become a luxury? The answer seems to be “yes.”
Tumblr media
Air pollution basically means the presence of pollutants- harmful chemicals and particles, in the air that is not naturally occurring. Their presence lowers the quality of air, which is detrimental to all living and non-living things in the environment. These air pollutants are majorly formed due to human-made activities.
Our body thrives on three necessities- food, water, and air. While we can live without food for three weeks and water for three days yet we cannot cross the three-minute mark without air. The statistics show we need around 14 kg of air each day, which is far higher than our needs for food and water combined. That specifies the importance of clean air in our life.
So, it is high time we start searching causes of air pollution and find ways to lower it, if not remove it.
Causes of Air Pollution
Do you have any idea as to how air pollution is caused? To know the factors responsible for air pollution, read through the text below.
(A) Man-made Causes
As we delve into the causes of air pollution such as human activities especially, in cities are on top of the list. To support a large population of a city, production, transportation, and industrial activities are a must, but at the cost of emission of harmful chemicals in the atmosphere.
(i) Vehicular Emission
Emission of harmful gases by trucks, tractors, buses cars, and two-wheelers contribute to about one-fourth of total pollution.
(ii) Industrial Air Pollutants
Dust from construction sites contribute to about 3% and power plant generators, stone crushers, brick kilns, and other small industries contribute to air pollution to the tune of 30%.
(iii) Deforestation
Forests act as a sink for the major pollutant, carbon dioxide, as trees use carbon dioxide for preparing their food by the process of photosynthesis. Deforestation removes this storage area of carbon dioxide resulting in increasing its concentration in the atmosphere.
(iv) Farming Activities
Stubble burning and pesticide spraying in the farms, though it contributes to about 4%, the value is seen to spike high to around 30% of the total pollution in winter.
(B) Natural Causes
Another important cause of air pollution is natural events such as biological decays in natural swamps, volcanic releases of ash and sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide, infiltration of ozone from ozone layer into the stratosphere, particulate matter from dust storms, forest fires, pollen grains, and so on. Forest fires cause air pollution by releasing particulate matter into the air.
(C) Indoor Air Pollution
Hazardous indoor air quality causes ill effects on the comfort and health of the inmates. These are caused due to the burning of biomass for cooking and room heating, and use of asbestos fibers, volatile organic compounds, etc. You can protect yourself by proper ventilation, filtration, and controlling the sources of pollution.
Even though we are aware of the ways and means of controlling air pollution, it is becoming challenging day-by-day due to our irresponsible behavior. The least we can do is get some air purifier which is convenient to use and will keep us and our family protected from the polluted air around us.
The AirTamer personal air purifier is one such device which comes handy. You can wear the unit around your neck and breathe fresh, clean air anytime anywhere.

Its functioning is based on the technology of the production of negative ions. It starts working within 30 seconds of switching on the device. It's testing in the world’s best labs has proven without a doubt that it removes 99% of viruses from the air over just 20 minutes. It is highly effective in providing clean air.
The underlying component of this technology is magical negative ions, found in abundance in healthy natural locations such as oceans, waterfalls and the like, where we experience a zone of cleaner, healthier air.
The technology is simple to understand. AirTamer’s black brush emits over 2 million negative ions per second. They attach themselves to the pollutants in the air and apply a negative charge to them. These negative pollutants now get attracted towards the positive surfaces around you, away from your breathing passage, thereby saving you from inhaling them and making you sick.

AirTamer personal air purifier, according to the name, provides personal protection. What about the protection of the environment? Renewable fuel and clean energy production, energy conservation, and efficiency, eco-friendly transportation, green building, etc. are some of the ways, we must try, to alleviate the ill effects of air pollution on the environment.
