Semester review
Looking back on this semester, everything went well in general. Darrin and Shaun explained and dealt with every detail of our problem very patiently. In cooperation with partners, I did complete two works that I was very satisfied with. Michelle's specially sampled rhythmic music and ben's rap music works have one thing in common, that is, they are modern enough and rich in rhythm and drums. I like to make something different, non-traditional videos. In the editing work of the prelinger archive collection, I combined retro and modern hip-hop beats, and made the video look very special by adding various visual effects. Among the editing works of the Richard Grant collection, Richard's excellent footage makes the video I edited look extremely professional, coupled with ben's highly completed rap music, it makes me feel that this is a qualified commercial music video. This semester has gained a lot. It has improved my personal cooperation ability and deal with various problems of cooperation. Week 13
This week I finished my final clips which using Richard Grand’s collection.I refined every detail of the video and distributed the glitch effect evenly.

In order to refine the picture and the visual to match the melody of each syllable, I added a frame-by-frame overlapping effect at 1:02, also added a RGB color separation glitch effect at 1:12, this effect makes the edge of the main object appear red and green slight floating on the edge.
In addition, a flashing black screen was added at 1:17, which fits the music rhythm very well.

At 1:26, I performed RGB color separation and multi-layer image zoom in and zoom out for this picture, making this scene look like a short illusion.

The rest of the video modification and changes are the glitch effects distributed in all corners of the video. From the beginning to the end of the video, there are many details with glitch effects. I’m not mention many of them one by one.

After completing all the details of the visual effects, the final segmentation is the color correction of the video. First, I use Davincci to segment the video, because in this mixed cut video, the tonal contrast of each segment is different, so the segmentation can better deal with the details of each picture.Then I adjusted the curve of each segment and the percentage of black light and white light. There are also many color Luts available in the software, but I found that the effect was not very good after trying some luts, so I chose manual adjustment color.When the operation reaches this step, the overall video process has ended and I made it as the final version.
After finishing the editing of the two videos, I am satisfied with their performance, because I think they have reached my goals, and the degree of completion is great, the video picture and the rhythm of the music are in perfect harmony and filled by visual effects.

Week 12
This is a cool week that few collection’s authors joined our class and gave us feedback,one of my works uses Richard Grant’s collection got some feedback.Surprisingly, Richard Grant has a keen interest and appreciation for my work.After Richard noticed that the music was finished in advance, he thought that my method of editing and adjusting the video based on the audio was very effective. Even he rarely used this method.In addition, he thinks that some of the visual effects I added, such as blink, glitch and mirage, are also very successful and gave him a deep impression.What I get from richard’s feedback is unanimous praise. It seems that there are no suggestions for improvement, so I think in the last week I will make the final polishes on the video.

For the work edited by the prelinger archive collection, after my teammate Michelle returned her modified audio, the rhythm of the last segment of the video is more consistent with the video.In the feedback given by Richard Grant to my ‘the puppeteer’ this week, he liked the blink effect very much and even told me not to remove it. From this, I learned that everyone seems to like the feeling of blink. This visual effect is successful, so I decided to add the blink effects to this project either, I add them on 0:18-0:35, the blink is so suit on the visuals of moving kid’s mirage.

In addition, I added some light effects and mixed mode rainbows to the sky image of the pilot parachuting from the plane at 0:48. It is a good idea to add some colors like rainbow to monotonous black and white video :) 
At the end, I added some jitter effects to the restaurant picture in the last segment of the video to make the last segment more consistent with the music.
After making these changes, I think this video is full of excitement and attractive enough, next week I will make the final touches on'the puppeteer'!

In the video author’s suggestion, he mentioned a point that I have not considered. The distributed layer makes the video overlap according to the transparency to achieve a visual effect similar to dreams or illusions. This is not a very complicated operation but it can brings unexpected results, it is worth trying, I will use it in the progress next week.

Week 11
This week, I modified the video 'the puppeter'. First of all, I removed the hallucination effect at 0:27-0:35. The reason is that this special effect makes the video appear granular and small mosaic, which reduces the clarity of the video segment, and the effect is not ideal.I also tried to add some new objects by camera tracking AE,The results are also not ideal, the picture is too full and messy, a bit of the main object overflow feeling,so I gave up on this idea for futher steps.

Week 10
This week, I went back to the essence and re-analyzed my two projects. First, the music video work "the puppeter" which uses Richard Grant's clips has catered to music nodes.Just when I wanted to try to further polish and technical rendering of the video, I didn't have enough ideas to do further, just like what I said last week,I might can add new objects on video by camera tracking, as the new things can be added to each frame, but the point is things are to hard to suits in Grant’s footage,it is unique CG human footage. So I decided to find a better space for improvement from the source of audio visual relationship. The audiovisual relationship is the use of sound to enhance the visual imagine by helping to create meaning, mood and illusion. This is done through various elements of sound design implemented as diegetic, non-diegetic and internal diegetic sounds. Which also affect the pace, mood and tone of a scene.After reexamining the concept of audio visual, I find that the number of turning nodes of music in the clips of 'the puppeter' is greater than that of vision. This is precisely because I used a lot of long shots in the early stage of the video. Therefore, I think that more segmentation and enrichment of video clips will be my main goal.As for the editing works of Prelinger archive collection, after I carefully asked the teachers whether my video clips were appropriate, I determined that there was no problem in using the video clips. The focus of this video footage will be on visual effects, so as to achieve an overall perfect feeling through rich effects.

Week9
In the ninth week of study, due to the feedback from the mile stone presentation last week, my doubts about the Prelinger archive collection works edited by myself were solved. Darrin and Shaun don't think that audio visual works need to be connected with the story before and after, so it is more important to produce the visual effect of corresponding audio. And this week My progress mainly focuses on the technical breakthrough of video. Because my video has used a lot of visual effects, it even fills every detail of the video. Therefore, in this stage, I did not make any changes to the finished product that has been edited. Instead, I searched for visual effects or editing techniques that are more likely to be replaced.

From this tutorial, I got a lot of new inspiration. I think it is possible to track the 3D camera on the video itself, and add many new subjects from various styles of materials. In this scene, I used camera analysis tracking to add a lot of extra objects,I think this same method can also be applied to the puppeter music video to enrich the video details and content,I will try it out in the next week's progress.
Video color matching is also a very important visual effect. Of course, I haven't reached this stage before the film is completely finalized. In terms of color matching, I will use DaVinci resolve, which is a good color editing software.

sIn this week's study, I mainly modified and upgraded the music video "The Puppeteer". After the overall video editing was completed, as I got feedback from Darrin and Shaun. The climax part of the video at 2:00-2:20 seems to need some visual effects with a strong sense of energy, so I added three visual effects to this part.

First, starlight embellishment effects, based on the original color of the video, generate starlight effects on the edge of the figure. It enrich the visual effects of the overall picture.Second, I used a scene similar to that of the soul out of the body to distribute special effects. In addition to the screen switching itself, this video is also full of dynamic.

The third effect is of course the strongest super glitching effects. This special effect is different from the first two effects in that the first two special effects are visually embellished effects on the screen. And this effect is to convey the core of this segment-strong and full of energy. With the same climax audio clip, with such a effect, the 2:00-2:20 video has become the most eye-catching part of the entire video.

It is also worth mentioning that I added a special effect of blur and color dispersion at 0:28 in the video, which looks like an illusion or a dream.
These are a series of modifications I made to the ‘the puppeteer’ video, which can have a lot of polishing effects. Since the original video used for editing already contains many effects from the original author, the visual effects in all parts of the video are very saturated. In order to achieve a more refined work, I should consider the video in the next working day. Modify the slow-paced long shots in the early and mid-term or look for better ideas to replace.

For the project that I collaborated with Michelle, I have added enough visual effects to this video. After getting feedback from teachers and classmates, I found that my video has two parts. The first part is not in the early stage of the video. Story-like pure audiovisual images, phantom images of children walking around. The second part is the story of the mid- and late-stage scenes of parachuting and an old granny fighting in a restaurant. Some classmates mentioned that my first part is good, why not continue to make the whole video be like the first part. Shaun also told me to find a balance in pure audiovisual and video. I may need to selectively favor the first part or the second part. But in my opinion, the music I use is progressive, from slow to fast, from ordinary to climax. I can use the same method visually. The first part is slow. It is a pure visual experience. It has no story. When the music enters the node with a little ups and downs, the video has a story. This story It is also a visual progression. Just like when the video and audio enter the climax, the fast-paced talent fight between the grandmothers, the audience's visual experience will also reach a climax, so in my opinion, the combination of the first part and the second part-pure audiovisual experience and story-telling audiovisual,the combination of those to are necessary. It might be boring if the whole video was presenting on pure audiovisual as the ghosting effects.In the future development, I will consider the effects of each part of the video in detail and look for better special effects to replace.

Week 7
During this week's study, I got the full version of the music from Michelle and made a music video based on audio visual with Ben's Soundcloud song ‘The puppeteer’. 
First of all, I revised the video content of the Prelinger archive collection project. As I mentioned earlier, the original version used sensitive content such as blacks and Nazis in the 1950s. I deleted all the sensitive content and reselected the video clips that can be used for editing.The music Michelle gave me has a very obvious rhythm progression relationship, so in the video clip, my video selection also uses the same rhythm, from slow to fast. When the music reaches its climax, video also adds a lot of video effects to get energy.While combining retro video with modern hip-hop music, in order to enrich the content of the video, I added a lot of special effects to the video, such as pyrotechnic explosion lighting effect, wavy color difference, edge glitch effect and x-signal effect. Secondly,about the project with Ben's music. I also possessing both a sound and a visual component.After I made the first version of the video, I first asked Darrin for a feedback. He said this is a good audiovisual relationships project, but we should pay attention to some details, at 2:20 in the video, the figure doesn’t really feel like it related to anything else. And at 1:45-2:02 in the video, this is the climax of the music. I can consider adding some energy to this part,so the video reaches the same climax.I think Darrin makes a lot of sense,I will make corresponding rectification for the figure at 2:20, so that the figure it presents can be connected with the whole video before and after. In this week, I submitted the test 2 video on Team. In the second test, I changed my thinking in the first experiment. First, I changed the tempo of the film from slow to fast. The reason why I changed the style of the video is something reminds me more things on it. My editing work uses video clips from PRELINGER ARCHIVE COLLECTION as the main material. In this collection, the time background of the videos are all in the middle of the 1940s. It’s this time-honored video collection that gave me a special idea: What kind of chemical reaction would occur if such retro clips were edited to produce a music video combined with modern hip-hop music?

The emergence of this idea reminded me of a hip-hop music I have watched, walk it like I talk it by Migos. In the Mv of this song, the director cleverly combined modern hip-hop trap music with the cultural style of the 1970s together.
So I chose a piece of modern hip-hop music in the test 2 edit to try. The effect of the clip is mixed. Since the video is shaped for a better music experience, the video lacks specific content. In addition, I got feedback from two teachers. Shaun and Darrin mentioned a point that I didn't notice. My video clip shows black people in the 1940s and Nazi soldiers during World War II. I tried to combine retro clips and modern music into a music video. This week I started drafting video clips, I tried few version to express my ideas.The prototype of the video has emerged, but I need to consider more factors, such as whether there is a linear plot or what I need to express through this video.
At this stage of editing, I feel that my video content is not rich enough. I'll add some visual effects in line with the comprehensive factors in the later stage. Because this video shows the style of the early years of the last century. So I should add some old video recording elements effects to make the video content more natural.
