Which French Woman Are You?

I want to give you something complètement différent this week: I have invented (with the help of my mother!) this quiz for you! A quiz that will determine which French woman you are, out of 5 super famous and glamorous female French icons! And if you are a man who has not yet embraced his inner woman… now is the time to do so!

You know how I keep telling you that there are so many ways you can learn French online? Well, I do my best to help & guide you on that route, while enhancing your French learning language ,french immersion course experience! Hopefully this quiz will teach you French you don’t normally learn.

In case you don’t recognize them all, don’t scroll down yet! Take the quiz and all will be revealed to you at the end, along with your results!

Yes homework really helps sinking in new information. So once you know which French woman you are, you can go read the result but it will be in French and you’ll have to figure out what it means in English! How to Conjugate Magic Verb FAIRE in French + Expressions

As part of my new shorter & simpler how to learn french online, I’ve decided to fully & clearly conjugate for you all the absolutely crucial basic French verbs, in the present tense, in 2 steps:

Step 1: just the verb, the whole verb conjugated with each subject.

Step 2: that same conjugated verb but this time in a sentence to give you context.

So far we’ve conjugated avoir, être, et aller, fell free to go back to these latest videos if you need a little review, and this week we are going to conjugate another super important verb… FAIRE = TO DO / TO MAKE.

Why must you know FAIRE?

Think of how many times you use the verbs to do or to make in English!

Well, in French we say this even more! Why? Because we use faire in countless expressions and sayings, which in English are not translated by to do or to make.

I will share plenty of these expressions with you in french immersion course and french language learning

Let’s conjugate faire in the present tense with every single subject pronoun, and then, I’ll put it in a short sentence USING these expressions so YOU can learn and use them. C’est parti!

Let’s conjugate FAIRE

To do / to make = Faire

That’s called the infinitive, l’infinitif, which means it is not conjugated. Now let’s conjugate it, in the present tense.

I do / I make = Je fais I hike in the countryside with my dogs = Je fais de la randonnée avec mes chiens

So, to hike = faire de la randonnée

You do / you make = Tu fais (casual) You always pack your bags at the last moment = Tu fais toujours tes valises au dernier moment

So, to pack one’s bags = faire ses valises

She does / she makes = Elle fait Elle fait pipi avant de voyager car elle déteste les toilettes publiques = She pees before traveling because she hates public bathrooms

So, to pee = faire pipi

He does / he makes = il fait He’s sulking because she didn’t kiss him = Il fait la tête parce qu’elle ne l’a pas embrassé

So, to sulk = faire la tête

We do / we make = on fait On is the singular subject pronoun for we. Is it strange to think of we as singular? Think of a unit, think of a couple. A couple is made up of 2 people so it’s plural yet you say “a couple IS” so it’s also singular. On is more used in spoken French, it’s the more casual way to say we.

We get into trouble every time our parents go out of town = On fait des bêtises chaque fois que nos parents s’absentent

So, to get into trouble = faire des bêtises

We do / we make = nous faisons Nous is the plural subject pronoun for we. It’s less used in spoken French than on, which we just saw, and it’s the more formal, the more proper way to say we.

*Just to be sure you understand; the above 2 sentences mean the exact same thing and that is “We are not going on vacation this year” The only difference is that “on” is more casual and “nous” is more “formal”

We get into trouble every time our parents go out of town = Nous faisons des bêtises chaque fois que nos parents s’absentent

Same sentence as the one above, same meaning, only this time, we, sound more formal.

On fait des bêtises chaque fois que nos parents s’absentent = Nous faisons des bêtises chaque fois que nos parents s’absentent

You do / you make = vous faites (formal or you all) Why are you pretending to listen to me? = Pourquoi faites-vous semblant de m’écouter?

So, to pretend = faire semblant

They do / they make = Elles font (for an exclusively feminine group) They ride their bikes every weekend = Elles font du vélo chaque week-end

So, to ride one’s bike = faire du vélo

They do / they make = Ils font (for a masculine or a mixed group) They party all night long and I can’t sleep = Ils font la fête toute la nuit et je ne peux pas dormir

So, to party = faire la fête

Et voilà! So! What did I tell you? We use faire like in English when we want to express to do or to make but also for lots of expressions, which in English are not translated by to do or to make. That’s why it’s doubly important to know how to conjugate this verb without hesitation.You can easily do french language courses from our provided platform.

je fais = I do / I make

tu fais = you do / you make (casual)

elle fait = she does / she makes

il fait = he does / he makes

on fait = we do / we make (singular + casual)

This week I was supposed to share a lot of things in my life. So many of you have reached out to me with various questions or questions, since President Macron finally spoke to us on Monday,

"French, French, here we are together at the rendezvous of our country and our future. The events of recent weeks in France and overseas deeply troubled the Nation. They have mixed legitimate demands and a chain of unacceptable violence and I want to tell you right away: this violence will not be lenient.

We have all seen the game of opportunists who have tried to take advantage of sincere anger to mislead them. We have all seen the irresponsible politicians whose only project was to shake the Republic, seeking disorder and anarchy. This can only be done by a better school, universities, apprenticeships and training that teach young and old what it takes to live free and work.

We want a France where one can live worthily from one's work? On this point, we went too slowly. I want to intervene quickly and concretely on this subject. I ask the government and Parliament to do what is necessary so that we can live better from the beginning of next year. The salary of a worker at the SMIC will increase by 100 euros per month as of 2019 without it costing one more euro for the employer.

I want to get back to a good idea: that the extra work accepted is an extra income; overtime will be paid without taxes or charges from 2019. And I want a real improvement is immediately noticeable; that is why I will ask all employers who can, to pay an end-of-year bonus to their employees and this premium will not have to pay any taxes or charges.

Retirees are a precious part of our Nation. For those who receive less than 2,000 euros per month, we will cancel in 2019 the increase of CSG suffered this year; the effort that was asked of them was too important and it was not right. Tomorrow, the Prime Minister will present all of these decisions to parliamentarians.

But we must not stop there. I need our big companies, our most fortunate citizens, to help the Nation succeed; I will bring them together and make decisions in this direction as of this week. I know some would like in this context that I come back to the wealth tax reform but for almost 40 years it has existed; did we live better during this period? The richest left and our country weakened. In accordance with the commitments made to you, this tax has been eliminated for those who invest in our economy and therefore help to create jobs; and it has been maintained on the contrary for those who have a real estate fortune.

Going backward would weaken us even as we are recreating jobs in all sectors. However, the government and Parliament will have to go further to put an end to undue benefits and tax evasion. As you can see, we will respond to the economic and social emergency with strong measures, faster tax cuts, better spending control rather than setbacks.

They are indispensable. We want rules that are fairer, simpler, clearer and reward those who work.

The duty to produce in order to redistribute, the duty to learn to be a free citizen, the duty to change to take into account the urgency of our climate and budget debt.

To succeed, we must come together and address together all the issues essential to the Nation. I want questions about representation to be asked; the possibility of seeing the currents of opinion better understood in their diversity, a more just electoral law, the taking into account of the white vote and even being allowed to participate in the debate of citizens not belonging to parties. I want to ask the question of the balance of our tax system so that it allows both the justice and the efficiency of the country. I want to ask the question of our daily lives to cope with climate change: to stay, to move, to heat. And the right solutions will also emerge from the field.

I want to ask the question of the organization of the state, the way it is governed and administered from Paris, probably too centralized for decades. And the question of public service in all our territories.

I also want us to agree with the nation on what its deepest identity is, that we address the issue of immigration. We have to face it.

These fundamental changes that require deep and shared reflection require an unprecedented debate. It will have to take place at the national level in our institutions, everyone will have its share: government, assemblies, social partners and associations; you will have your share. I want to assure myself the coordination, to receive the opinions, to take the pulse of our country.

But such a debate is not only about institutional representatives; it must also take place everywhere on the ground and it is natural interlocutors, citizens who must receive requests and relay: they are the mayors; they carry the Republic on the ground. That is why I will meet the mayors of France, region by region, to build the foundation of our new contract for the Nation.

We will not resume the normal course of our lives, as too often in the past in similar crises, without anything being really understood and nothing changed. We are at a historic moment for our country: through dialogue, respect, commitment, we will succeed.

We are at the task and I will come back to express myself in front of you to realize.

My only concern is you; my only fight is for you.

Our only battle is for France.

Long live the Republic, long live France. "
