This is a sideblog, because I don't want my mutuals to know just how feral I am over the fnaf dca. Maybe making fanfiction for them, who knows? I certainly don't.

welcome to the post-fire au, everyone, we’re I sit around and think “I wonder what happened to Sun and Moon after the fire” and then take matters into my own hands
Meet the Protagonist, a 24 year old college dropout who works a dayshift at the local schoolhouse as a daycare attendant and the night shift at the town’s junkyard. A year after the Pizzaplex burns down, they stumble upon something weird while working the graveyard shift— a pile of robotic parts familiar enough to catch your attention yet just vague enough to trick you into bringing it home with you and restoring it back to somewhat decent health. It’s not like it’s dangerous, right? It’s just a decommissioned robot.
Right?

This AU has always been on our minds ever since we saw the movie and for laughs we made several silly sketches. Although as time went on we moved away from the movie's story and created a new one.

as you may already know, my wonderful friend Wafaa (@wafans-blog) was recently able to get back in contact with her brother Muhammad and sister Shaima after a long period of uncertainty as to where they were or whether they had survived. thankfully, they and their spouses and children are all unharmed and remain together.
after repeated displacement, the two families are currently sheltering in the Al-Mawasi area, but this location, despite having been declared a protected humanitarian zone, is emphatically not safe. airstrikes have been occurring since mid july, killing hundreds of people and preventing access to food and water, and disease is everywhere due to sewage contamination, heat, and overcrowding.
this is especially dangerous for the youngest of the two families' ten children, Salem, who is just a few weeks old. because of the devastated condition of the medical system, he has not been able to receive vaccinations, making him especially vulnerable to infection.
due to the urgency of his situation, the family hopes that Salem can escape with the portion of Wafaa's family that has successfully raised enough to pay the crossing fees, but they need an additional $2,500 to cover the cost of just Salem's evacuation, and $10,000 to evacuate all the younger children (Salem, Malak, who is eight; and Salma, who is five). so far, they have raised $1,640, leaving only $860 to go to meet the first goal of getting Salem to a safe place, and $8,360 to evacuate all three children.
please donate if you have the means and share as widely as you can to help these two families at the very least get their children to safety! thanks to all of you, Wafaa was able to meet her goal, and she hopes you will support her dear siblings Muhammad and Shaima to do the same.
(Wafaa's campaign is #171 on @/el-shab-hussein and @/nabulsi's spreadsheet)

Fnaf daycare attendent x reader on my mind today, I may have plenty of other writing projects I'm working on, but damn I do get some little inklings for them.
Honestly I don't even know what kind of au I'd write, I mean I love the more robotic aspect of the attendent. Both Sun and Moon struggling with the restrictions of Fazco is very tasty to me, I eat it up with a spoon every time. I like the readers who interact with them at the pizzaplex, either as mechanics, assistant attendants and so on.
One has gripped me more so recently. Bones-of-a-rabbit started it with their fic honestly, and it's an intriguing concept, a reader who is a staffbot. Call me a bit biased because I first got into the hype of the daycare attendent x reader thorough bamsara's fic. Joe the gas station bot is a noteworthy note. But I do love me some staffbots.
So an idea started forming after I watched markipler play help wanted 2. It's nothing I've really sat down and fleshed out, but I do like to expand it every now and again. I consider it my little thought project. Spoilers ahead. Also this gets a bit existential and angsty.
In one of endings it shows that the human becomes the mask bot in fnaf ruin. And there's this weird thought of, did the two switch places? Is the being swapped under the control of the whole virus thing? Can this process happen with anyone?
That's when I thought of, what if reader staffbot accidentally became human? At first they are ecstatic because now they don't have to worry about getting deactivated and they can do whatever they want now...right?
But they find that being human, while it has some perks, has even worse downsides than they couldnt have anticipated from just watching humans. Like for example, getting sick, joint problems, limbs can't be replaced easily, only one body, pain from anything, etc. What makes this worse is mainly the fact that now they don't have anyone they're familiar with anymore, the human family they end up apart of isn't their's, the friends that surround them are unfamiliar, the people they do know are all back at the pizzaplex and they won't recognize them as the staffbot they knew.
The reason why they wished to be human, becomes something of regret, because in losing the bots they cared about all they wanna do is reverse it. For mine in particular there's no way to do so, I don't know how it becomes irreversible, it's possible that it comes from Fazco's doing of erasing what they can of the glitch, which is the thing that even let the reader swap in the first place. They feel even more guilt because they also understand there was a human they swapped places with, which means their possible death or life stuck as a staffbot is their fault.
So they mourn their losses and decide to get to know their friends in the pizzaplex as a human. In hopes to create a better life for their friends as they have access to things they don't. And really? End goal? Probably helping them escape, because even if they couldn't escape as a staffbot without consequences, they'll make sure nobody else has to.
I don't know if this is like a rebuilt pizzaplex or an entirely new establishment. I don't even know what to do with this really, but I like unpacking 'becoming a real boy' trope. Also I have never seen it explored in this way I suppose, not with the 'Oh this is great cause I'm human now' like, c'mon, human bodies and living life as a human does have some real shitty things to deal with. We have some perks, but like would a robot really want to give up the ability to replace body parts for exact same body parts if needed? Or the fact that they can figure out problems faster because they don't have to worry about memory problems? A little bit of a ramble, I digress.
But yeah, I honestly would like to make this into something more, but right now I got other fanfics and I'm swamped with life right now, so my creativity is taking a hit. I've been playing around with this concept in my head for a while, just never executed it. If this ramble gives inspiration to you, please do @ me, I'd love to see what you've come up with!

Okay I completely forgot to make one of these for this blog.
Hello, welcome. I have many names I go by, so for this blog I shall label which ones I prefer.
-Avarice
-Creature
-Sleepy Boi
-Critter
I mainly use they/them pronouns, as I haven't tested out neo pronouns and they/them for me leaves it more simplistic for other people. I don't mind being called more male terms, like guy, boy, dude. Though man and sir is a little too formal. Honestly just some guy, keep it causal please. Any nonbinary term is also preferred, you can even get creative with it.
22 as of this year, but honestly my joints make me feel like I'm in my forties at times lol.
This sideblog is mainly made for my hyperfixation of the fnaf daycare attendent. If it wasn't already obvious by the shit ton of reblogs.
Will you ever know my main? Probably not. Maybe if you sleuth around or something, I dunno, I ain't you. I'm not going to tell you anyways.
I might make my own posts for the daycare attendent and what not, but that's up in the air atm. I am a rather busy person cause job, and I got a couple big writing projects I'm working on in different fandoms, so honestly might not for a good while. Unless for some reason I have more time or my brain decides it's great to add yet another writing project to my pile. We shall see. At best you'll probably get little drabbles or pieces of something, little sprinkles like finding a shell on the beach.
Hope you enjoy your scrolling!

"do robots dream?" you ask quietly one day in the gentle darkness of the daycare. the lights are out for naptime, and the air is filled with intermittent soft snores of the toddlers curled up cozily in their blankets.
moon looks over at you from his position squatted atop the security desk—surveilling the kids from the small height. his ruby red eyes alight the air between you in a tender glow. there's a moment of silence after your words, as though he is contemplating his answer.
"no," he eventually rasps out and turns his head back around to the bundles of blankets and pillows he's in charge of. a steady lullaby chimes out from within his chassis and it makes the ambience of the daycare more soothing than it usually is when the lights are on.
you hum and spin yourself idly around on the security desk's chair. "but if you could," you start as you stare up at the ceiling dotted with faint glow-in-the-dark stars, "what would you dream of?"
moon doesn't respond to you for a long time. you listen to his little lullaby and feel sleep brush warmly against your eyelids. it gets to the point where you wonder if he just doesn't feel like answering you—indulging you. not that you'd blame him. and just when you're about to change topics, maybe laugh off your inquisitive questions, he starts to speak in a low, low voice.
"we would dream of the sky," he says as he looks up at the daycare's ceiling. the small lights that dot it are in no way on par with the night sky you have the privilege of seeing every day. something aches in your chest at the distant longing in his gaze. "we would dream of the stars and the moon and the sun. we would dream of the sea. we would dream of an endless field of flowers."
you listen along as he speaks—perhaps airing out something that had been weighing upon him for who-knows-how-long. it makes you ruminate deeply, causes your toes to curl within your shoes and your heart to beat solemnly.
"we would..." he suddenly trails off, and you don't notice when his gaze flicks over to you for a brief moment, too caught up in spinning yourself around and around and around. he makes a soft sound like he's clearing his throat, then says no more. you do not push or press him, your mind lost in thought about a small daycare tucked in a desolate corner of the world. where the robot within looks up at a concrete ceiling and sees nothing beyond it.
we would dream of a house, with us and you, moon thinks but does not say. his eyes close as though he can picture it right before him. we would dream of late nights and early mornings. we would dream of a time where we could be with you and only you.
but that is only a dream, he sighs and reopens his eyes to continue his meticulous scanning of the children. the lullaby continues to chime away.
isn't it?

lunch today was a burrito you'd snagged from el chips with your employee pass. it wasn't anything much, just a tortilla with some beans slapped inside and cheese for extra flavor. rather sad, now that you thought about it, but at least the sauces you'd added made it taste better.
you often took your lunch break in the daycare, nestled comfortably in the chair behind the unused security desk. so that's where you were, taking advantage of naptime to eat your food in a quiet, peaceful place. it was dark, but the lighting from the windows behind you was enough to allow you to see. that and the small lamp positioned in a little corner of the desk.
you took another bite out of your burrito, mindful of the crinkling aluminum, then paused halfway through chewing. "you've been staring at me for the last ten minutes."
moon's face plate clicked to the side, his squatted position atop the desk before you making him loom rather ominously over your much smaller form. "messy," was his short response, though it only made you roll your eyes.
"i'm not messy and you know it," you replied and took a sip of your drink to wash down some of the beans stuck between your teeth. "you've never stared at me on my other lunch breaks like this. something up?"
he was quiet for a moment, light from his eyes painting your vision in watercolor ruby. then he looked away, turning his gaze to all the snoozing toddlers resting on the playmats. "...keeping you company."
you raised an eyebrow as an indication for him to elaborate. since when did he care? when moon didn't hear anything from you, he huffed—a strange sound, coming from a robot—and mumbled something just loud enough for you to hear. "humans eat food with each other all the time."
you blinked at him—the resolute way he was avoiding your gaze—and mulled over his words in your head. there was a tendency for humans to put meaning into shared meals—into spending time eating with each other as an act of friendship, camaraderie, or love. your gaze softened and you took another bite of your burrito to spare him from the embarrassment that came with being vulnerable.
"that we do," you said gently, then nothing else. a quiet settled easily between the two of you and eventually moon went back to watching you eat your food. very, very intensely.
you cracked after about five minutes, more amused than anything. "okay, what is it? there's something else on your mind, isn't there?"
"no," he immediately replied, then at the expectant look you gave him, he deflated. he tapped the metal of his fingers against the top of the desk—a sound that seemed to echo throughout the daycare. "....yes."
you waited as he seemed to ruminate upon his words, before eventually—at your gentle, inquisitive hum—he relented. "gustation is not one of our utilities," he started unsurely, tentatively. you tilted your head at him, curious at what he was getting at. moon hesitated for only a split second, then pressed on with what he'd been previously contemplating. "your burrito. what does it taste like?"
oh! you weren't sure what you'd been expecting, but it certainly wasn't that. "well..." you started slowly. "it tastes like... beans. and cheese. kind of spicy, too." when moon gave you a flat look, you held up your hands in a shrug. "sorry, you caught me off guard."
"we know what burritos are made of," moon told you indignantly, and you knew if he could, he'd roll his eyes at you. "we just do not know what it tastes like. try again."
you snorted and took a bit more time to think, taking a bite to chew more carefully and parse out the flavors. "it's savory," you eventually settled on saying. "a bit salty, but the blandness of the tortilla balances it out. spicy, like i said before, because of the hot sauce." you thoughtfully rubbed at your chin with your free hand.
when moon made a sound that was like clicking one's tongue against their teeth, you realized that was not quite what he was looking for either. "yes," he grumbled, "but what is that like?"
hm. this was getting more convoluted by the minute, but you were not opposed to taking time to try to explain flavors to him. you set down your half-eaten burrito and wiped your fingers on a spare napkin you had lying around. then you leveled him with a pondering look. he looked back, patiently waiting with his fingers tip-tip-tapping away.
you decided to start with the easiest one. "spiciness," you began, mind racing with what to say, "is like... holding something hot. like... when you overheat and your fans kick into overdrive to cool yourself down. it hurts, but it's a good kind of hurt."
he took in your words—digesting them slowly—then nodded. you continued. "umami is like… sitting at a hearth. uh, maybe like when you have a kid sleeping on your lap after a long day.” shit, this was hard. you stared up at the ceiling decorated in all its glowing stars as you contemplated your next words. moon only waited quietly and for that you were thankful.
“saltiness is like— like a steely tang. distantly reminiscent of the ocean.” you tapped a finger over your lips. he probably hadn’t ever seen the ocean, huh? “it’s like the color white. it can be used to bring out other colors, but too much and it just ruins everything.”
you hadn’t mentioned the other three tastes in describing your burrito, but you might as well for his sake. “sourness is like a zap of electricity. very sharp! kind of like…” you trailed off and gestured at moon to come closer. he was limited due to his protocols restricting him from passing beyond the desk, but he could at least lean forward enough that you could reach up to his face. he gave you a curious look, and you almost felt bad when you gave him a flick on the forehead. a small twang echoed from the contact of your nails on metal. “like that.”
“ow,” moon said in a deadpanned voice as he leaned away from you. one of his hands lifted to cover his forehead, and you chuckled before continuing your little lesson.
“sweetness is easy. it’s like a kiss on the cheek or a hug from someone you really like,” you said with a small smile. moon’s face plate tilted to the right at that, his gaze locked onto your face. tap-tap-tap went his fingers. “and last, but certainly not least, bitterness is like… hm… like”—you pulled a face, scrunching up your nose and sticking your tongue out—“like that. unpleasant. a battery that has melted apart.”
you picked back up your burrito and took a bite from it, letting moon stew in your words in the meantime. it looked like he was in a completely different world and you wondered what was going on inside that flat head of his. you swallowed down your bite and added “i’m sure there are better ways to describe them, but that’s all i’ve got for now.” you shrugged.
there was a quiet, quiet moment where moon just stared down at you. a tension seemed to line his shoulders and back, expressed only via the fidgeting of his hands. you raised an eyebrow, only slightly concerned. “…something on your mind?” you asked gently. and just when you thought he wasn’t going to say anything for the rest of your lunch break, he seemed to deflate and reached out a hand towards your face.
“thank you,” he mumbled, the smooth metal of his thumb swiping over the plushness of your bottom lip. it was cold. you had to suppress a shiver. your breath got caught up in your lungs, a burning sensation crawling its way up your neck as you watched him carefully. he leaned back and regarded the smudge of hot sauce on his thumb. you had to resist the sudden, vicious urge to lick at your lips.
the entire daycare seemed to hold its breath.
“what we wouldn’t give,” moon eventually said lowly, something indecipherable tinging his voice, “to share a meal with you.” an ache nestled itself in your chest.
and then he sighed—longing and wistful. the sound getting swallowed up by the vastness of the daycare.
