Everyday Technology Integration

Technology can be integrated into the classroom in many different ways. Whether its using a camera to enhance a math lesson or visiting a classroom in China through Skype. But the most important thing is that technology is being integrated into your lessons on a daily basis.  

Ms. Beers, 3rd grade teacher at A1, has found a simple way of enhancing her students’ group sharing experience through the use of technology. Ms. Beers uses the school’s document camera to project student writing onto the board for the entire class to see. 

I had the opportunity to visit Ms. Beers’ class and observe one student sharing his notes on how he made a real life connection to a story they read in class only moments earlier. It was immediate and offered a way to visually captivate the classes' attention when the student was sharing. Students were able to analyze what he had written and offered him immediate feedback. 

This is just one example of how simple, yet effective technology integration can be.

Check with your schools’ Technology Coach or Academy Leader to see what equipment is available at your campus and start using it today!

Remember, you don’t need an interactive board to have a 21st century classroom. Using technology that works best for you can make a huge difference and create a classroom experience that your students will never forget.

PLC's

Anyone else’s school doing PLC’s (Professional Learning Communities) this year?  I just got done with a PLC conference and while it was long (omg hated waking up at 5:30 every morning) and some of the material was redundant, it still had a lot of interesting and valuable information on how to work as a team to build curriculum, common assessments, etc.

My team meets for the first time next Tuesday.  The veteran teachers on my team didn’t go to the conference, so myself and the other new 1st year teacher who went with me are going to be expected to impart our novice knowledge.
