UI Design
UI design is based around appearance and the look, feel, interaction and presentation of the product itself. It is focused more on being aesthetically pleasing with the typography used as well as colour palate and easy to use navigation tools some of the key principles that should be used are
1.        Have a mobile mindset-  When designing for mobile users more is not always better so unlike big bulky computer apps its better to have less to not create to much confusion with the app.
2.        Know your user- There is a variety of different people using mobile devices there are the ones who use them at home on the couch or in their wind down time, there are those who use their mobile device on the run that are quite busy and then there are those users that are in transit that are either in unfamiliar surroundings or need to find a certain location so with this variety of users all must be treated accordingly. The first user would be more suited toward a longer usage setting e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube would all be fitting choices for this type of user. The second would is busy and on the move so big bold design would be important to grab that user’s attention this user would be more aimed toward things like Banking apps, Calendars, email that sort of thing. The last would be aimed more toward maps, Yelp, and other location finding apps.
3.        Global Guidelines- The things that should always come into play when designing a app on mobile device.Responsiveness of your app-if the user does something the app needs to react. Keep it simple-Most users don’t want to think to much when using an app make sure not to overcrowd the user and put your content front and center
4.        User input- Try and make the typing features easier for your users e.g. for bigger thumbed users like myself make sure there is a landscape mode especially if your app has a lot of typing involved. I have found in some apps where they don’t have this feature makes the app frustrating to use.
5.        Provide feedback- Make sure to provide feedback for every interaction for instance highlighting of a tapped button or progress bar to let the user know you are working on their action.

Moving Still HW
Lois Greenfield is an American photographer who specialises in moving still photographs. Born in 1949 in New York City she started her career as a photojournalist but was drawn to the visual aspect and potential of dance. Lois studied at Fieldstone School and Brandeis University majoring in anthropology.  In 1982 she opened her own studio so she could have more control over  the environment and also the dancers themselves so she could further explore the expressive capabilities of photographed movement. I really like her work it almost feels like time has frozen in here photographs some even have the illusion of being underwater. This piece reminds me of modern day kung fu movies  how the dancer looks as though she is floating and the cloth behind her kind of looks like a sword.

SM&I Homework
Graffiti Research Lab is an art group dedicated to supplying graffiti writers, protestors and artists with technology as another form of creating their art. Founded by Evan Roth and James Powderly they have created laser tagging and graffiti where a simple tag can be projected on the side of a building or skyscraper. So Evan Roth is a American artist who was born in 1978 and applies technology to his art work, he received a degree in architecture from The University of Maryland and an MFA from The Communication, Design and Technology at Parsons School for Design. I Really like their LED throwies I think it takes writing on walls to a whole new level.

David Hockney
David Hockney is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century who is known for his photo collages and paintings of Los Angeles swimming pools. Hockney was born in Bradford England on July 9th 1937 he attended the Bradford College of Art from 1953 to 1957. In 1959 he entered graduate at the Royal College of Art in London. In the late 80s Hockney started to incorporate technology into his artwork creating his first prints  on photo copier in 1986, he became fascinated with merging art with technology and in 2009 he began using the brushes app on iPhone and iPad to create paintings.
In an exhibition at the Royal Museum of Ontario in 2011, 100 of these digital paintings were showcased.
Tumblr media
This is a self portrait digital painting created in 2012 that he did using an iPad I like how the painting is made using pretty simple lines but he has given the work depth with his shading I also like how accurate this portrait is. I find David Hockney pretty amazing in the fact that although he is from the old school generation of artists he has embraced the use of technology to create work where maybe some of his peers might have frowned upon it.

Company that supplies Apps
Tumblr media
Google has to be the go too when it comes to companies that develop apps there search engine alone is probably the most popular on the internet and by far in my opinion the only one to use. They also have Gmail (which i also use),google earth which renders a 3D representation of Earth and allows users to explore the globe from their computer. The 3D rendering is based on satellite images and aerial photography giving cities, towns and even streets an accurate representation. Another huge app that google has created would be youtube, where almost 5 billion videos are watched every single day and gets over thirty million visitors per day so google are definitely leaders in the app creating business. They also created google maps, docs, chrome etc which are all very popular apps so it will be interesting to see what apps they have install for users in the future.

Tobias Gremmler
Tobias Gremmler is a digital artist from Germany who started his career as a media artist and designer in the early 90′s. Tobias likes to blend media art with more traditional art forms like theatre and music, he has also published a range of books on design, digital media and education. One of the pieces that I really like is the London Symphony Orchestra piece where he created visuals based on the motions and movements of the conductor.

6 useful Apps
1) SPLICE -splice is a video editing app that is quite easy to use. It is good for me as I can do a small video of either my artwork or the process of creating it and upload it to my social media platforms, The app also allows you to add music from your I tunes library to your video.
2) Tayasui Sketches -an app that purely focuses on sketching, its a good app for me because it lets me draw and sketch on the go and I find it quite easy to use as well.
3)Stop Motion Studio- With this app you can create cool stop motion videos, this app could be useful for me with graffiti stop motion videos for advertising.
4)FONTISE- This app allows you to create your own custom fonts that you can download and use as TTF format. Creating fonts is something I'm interested in doing.
5) Font Candy- This app lets you add typography to your images which will also help with self promoting ads and marketing yourself.
6)Instagram- Social media platform I use to get my artwork out to the masses

Guardians Of The Galaxy
Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Title sequence was created by Erin Saforsky, Saforsky corp and Framestore. Erin Saforsky is President/Owner and Executive Director of Saforsky Corp a Design Driven production company that specialises in live action production, visual effects, 3D development, design and animation and more.
Erin graduated with a BFA in graphic design and an MFA in computer graphics at Rochester Institute of Technology with a strong photography influence. In 2006 she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for her work on “the ghost whisperer”
Erin Saforsky established her company, Saforsky Corp in January 2009 they work with a broad range of clients in the advertising, broadcasting, network, film and entertainment industries across the United States and Europe she has worked with long list of noteworthy clients including Coca Cola, General Motors,Cadillac, Motorola, Kodak, NBC Universal, Sony Pictures, Fox TV studios the list goes on.
The title sequence for guardians 2 features baby groot plugging in a speaker and dancing around while the other guardians are battling a monster called the Abilisk. The characters dancing is based on the director of the film James Gunns own movements the custom typography from the first Guardians was re used for this title. The title card freeze frame puts baby groot in a matrix like pose oblivious to all the chaos and mayhem going on around him while he dances around to one of Starlords 80s playlists.
It was a heavily visual effects sequence with a lot of green screen use and wire work with the actors even some of the character scenes the actors were CG with only small bits of real footage that was used

Online Tutorial
The online tutorial that I chose was an After Effects tutorial  by Phenomenal Creations on creating good motion graphics and techniques on character animation and animating handwritten text. What i liked about this tutorial is that its a follow along step by step video and I found it quite easy to follow not too complicated and also being a video I can rewind it if I miss anything and there is some cool little techniques he uses to make the logo animation smooth by adjusting the speed duration.

5 types of animation
1.Traditional animation
an older form of animation where the animator draws every frame to create the animation sequence.
2. 2d vector based animation
2d animation is usually referred to traditional hand drawn animation but it can also refer to computer vector animations.
3. 3d animation
3d animation also known as CGI or CG is made by creating images using computers instead of hand drawn or clay, 3d characters are digitally made.
4. Stop Motion
stop motion animation is animation that uses objects that are photographed in a sequence to create movement the process is very time consuming because the object has to be moved inch by inch while being photographed to create a fluid motion.
5. Flip book
the flip book is one of the earlier forms of animation it involves a series of images usually hand drawn and each drawing gradually changes page by page so when the pages are turned quickly it gives the illusion of movement.
