Installation Steps

The V-Ray installer should not be run using administrative privilege.

To start the installation, double-click the installation file.

1. You will be presented with the license agreement. Please take a moment to read it. Click I Agree to continue.

2. In this screen you can select for which SketchUp version to install V-Ray. You can choose more than one version at once.

Click the Install button to proceed with standard installation. If you need to customize your V-Ray installation, press the Advanced button. The Advanced installation lets you choose whether to install the License Server, V-Ray Swarm, and Chaos Cloud client and allows you to specify the License server machine.

Additional Components

In this step you can opt to install the License Server, V-Ray Swarm, and Chaos Cloud client. Press the Continue button to proceed with the installation.

Licensing

In this step, you can specify whether the V-Ray license server will run locally or on another machine.

If you select the option Remote you will have to fill in the IP address of your V-Ray license server in the field Primary License Server. Please leave the port 30304 unchanged. An AlternateLicenseServer is used when the primary one does not respond.

4. The installer first checks for running applications and prompts you to stop them, if there are such. Then it automatically uninstalls all old versions.

5. Your installation is completed. On the last screen resides the usage statistics collection option. For more information on the Chaos Group Telemetry, follow the link. Also, you can check the Open the release notes file option to open the release notes file after the installation.

Check Your License

Once the installation of the License Server is done, you are directed to the License Server local host (127.0.0.1:30304) in order to sign in and activate it.

Ive got a (i think) 1982 supergoose. im not sure if all parts are original but i know the frame is an original chrome moly supergoose frame. First off can someone help me identify the bike, and second could someone help me find the value. serial number is j2008703

According to this website your Mongoose was manufactured in October of 1982. It may or may not be a Supergoose though. If you scroll about 3/4 of the way down the page you'll see 'Serial numbers from 1981'. Under that heading it explains that the full cro-mo Supergoose had 3 holes in the brake bridge (2 slotted/ 1 round). If your frame doesn't have these 3 holes, then it's not a Supergoose. Also, it's hard to tell, but from your picture it appears that your fork may not be the stock one. The Mongooses of that era had the dropouts directly below the fork leg.

According to the brake bridge info on the Vintage Mongoose website your frame is not a Supergoose then. That being the case, I would guess that yours is a Motomag. The Motomag had what is referred to as a tri-moly frame. This means that the frame's front triangle tubing is chromoly while the rear triangle tubing is mild steel. This will most likely decrease the value but it's still a vintage frame and it will be worth something to a collector. As I said before, ask the guys over at BMX Museum and check out ebay to see what Motomags are currently going for. I hope this helps. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Locate the Run using Rosetta option. This check box should not be selected. If it is, then untick the check box. Close the window.

Click Restart on the Apple menu.

After your computer reboots, try to access the website that generated the error message.

(color-box color=”gray”) This is Evan Abrams for PremiumBeat.com and today we’re going to be shattering glass in After Effects. We’ll be making use of the built-in shatter effect and you don’t even need to use external 3D programs to make it happen. So let’s get into After Effects and start breaking things.

So the first thing to do in After Effects is create a new composition and we’re going to go with the HDTV 1080 24 pre-set and duration of 1 minute long, background color black, and click OK. The first thing to do is to make the actual thing we’re going to shatter. So to do that we’re going to create a new solid and we’re just going to leave that solid as black because we’re using a very dark scene. So we’re just going to be shattering a black piece of glass, but you can use any piece you’d like. So if you use, say, like a gray, we’d use blackness of 10. And then we’ll put some text on top of it, for example, just type in the word, “glass.” Scale it up and put it in the center of the composition there. This will serve as our glass. If you want to put other things, like a texture or any type of element that you want to shatter, it could be a logo, it could be anything, make sure you put it in this first composition. So select both of those and then we’re going to go layer pre-compose, and pre-compose both of those elements. And we’ll call this “Glass to shatter” so we know this is the glass we’re going to shatter. Good. Now to this we’re going to apply the shatter effect, and this will determine all of the attributes of the glass that we’re shattering. So as you can see by default, that actually shatters a bunch of bricks which is not exactly what we’re after.

So go into the shape and change the pattern to be glass instead of bricks. So you can see by default, also, it has fairly large chunks. We want to simulate the glass shattering in large chunks and then those chunks becoming smaller chunks. So in order to do that, we’re going to change the repetitions. So I’m just going to zoom in here on the timeline and we’re going to set key frames for the numbers of repetitions. So call up the keyframes by hitting U and I’m just going to zoom right in here. And all the action on these key frames can happen in the first five frames. So on frame one we want the repetitions to be 10. On frame two we want the repetitions to be 25. Frame three, we want them to be 35. Frame four, we want them to be 50. So they’re getting quite a bit bigger, quite a bit faster. The extrusion depth we want to take down to .05 to make them a lot thinner, because we don’t want thick glass chunks coming out. We want a thin pane of glass shattering. And this is all a matter of scale so if you want thicker glass, of course leave the extrusion depth up.

The next thing to change is the force and the force is going to have a depth of .01 and strength of 4. It doesn’t need to be as strong as the default. And we’re also going to key frame the radius. So click on the stopwatch there and the radius we want on frame one to be .11. And then on frame two we’d like it to be .12. And then on frame four we’d like it to be .17. This is causing the radius to expand into that first line of chunks and then on the next step to make sure that those chunks are still consistent with the first key frame we made. And if you’re not scaling the size of the thing coming through the glass, here, it’s going to become a little bit strange as the size of the glass changes and it changes where the edge of the break is. So these numbers help keep this within the bounds of what would be an expected shatter pattern.

Now we leave the gradient and the physics alone, and we just come down here to the texture. We change the opacity down to .75. And in order to observe what we’re really doing, change it from wire frame and force to rendered, so we can actually really see the work we’re doing. Now the front mode is fine to be the layer, so it will display whatever the layer is. The side mode, however, we want to be color plus opacity, so the sides of the shattered pieces are going to be white and 75% transparent. And the back mode, we’re going to have that set just to be color, because we’re trying to fake sort of a shine that happens when light reflects off of the pieces. And we can fake this, quite simply, by having the back of the pieces be bright so it seem kind of like they’re tumbling in a light.

Now speaking of lighting, we have to change some of the lighting settings. And on those settings we’re going to change the light intensity to be at 5. So quite bright. And then we’re going to move that light to be behind the plane of the shatter, so it’s casting light from the back. And we’re going to put the ambient light up to .5 and we are going to change the light color to be sort of a light blue. So I’m going to go with something like, somewhere in the blues here, not a lot of saturation and brightness all the way up to 100%. So a nice and bright light blue. And that should do for the shatter.

And the next thing we’re going to want to put in is a camera so we’re able to control how we’re looking at this. So back in the effect we want to make sure that the camera system it’s using is the comp camera. So now when we move this camera around in the scene, it’s going to change the way we’re looking at the glass. So as you can see, you can move around all parts of this thing with the camera to get a better look at it. In order to control the camera better, we’re going to make a new null object and we’re going to parent the camera to the null object and use the null object’s rotation and position to move the camera around. So make the null object 3D, pull up its rotation, just use moving the null object around on the screen to change its position around. So we’d like to change its wire rotation a little bit, so it’s kind of exploding out, and maybe set the camera a little bit below it. And something like that, and now we’ll just grab ahold of that Z access and just push ourselves in closer. Now you can see we’re nice and close, and it explodes right into the camera. So that’s quite good. Move us back so we can see the full frame of that break, and that should be good.

So we have this thing breaking and it creates a hole, so that’s all good. If you’d like to put a background, something in behind here, now is definitely the time to do that. So I’m going to create a new solid and make the solid completely black. Hit OK, good. And just move it in behind so it’s a light window that breaks and there’s nothing but blackness in behind. So take all of these elements and we’re going to pre-compose those and we’re going to call this “glass animation.” And now we’re going to time relap this make it more dramatic. So just go layer, time, enable time relapping. Now, we want to go to where that first shatter kind of happens, so it’s breaking. And we want the pieces to be right in our face, so that’s a good spot to start. And you can just go ahead about five or so frames, put a key frame there, as well.

Now we’re going to just go ahead to where all the pieces have fallen off and away and set a key frame there. Advance the last key frame and remove it, because really our animation is done after all our pieces are off. What we’re going to do is grab these last two key frames here, and we’re going to move them away from the first two key frames. And After Effects fills in the rest of the information to make this floating glass happen for us. Then we’ll just pinch the last two together a little bit, so that it’s floating and then it speeds away. And now take these center two keyframes, so they’re the start and end of the slowdown, pull them control or command, click on them, turn them into these nice circles to auto their values. And then you can see that it kind of gradually gets into the slowing and then it comes out of the slowing, as well.

And the last thing to add to all of this stuff is what’s called a force motion blur, which will force these things to be blurry. So that it’s blurry and then it slows down like the camera is speeding up to catch these things, but you still have that nice motion blur when it breaks open. So stylistically, we’re also going to want to make a new adjustment layer and on that adjustment layer I’m going to put a curves. I’m going to use this curves just to kind of make these things brighter and a little more contrast. I’m going to go into the red and pull some of the reds out. I’m going to go into the blues, and add some blue. Just to give it a blue look, because for whatever reason things at nighttime are blue and we associate blue with dark things.

Now we’re going to create a new, solid, maybe comp size, keep it black and put it below everything. And on this layer we’re going to put a ramp and make the start of the ramp to be sort of a lighter color, so maybe a 20%. And the end color, make it fully dark. Good. Set the start of the ramp to be in the center. Set the end of the ramp to be out of frame, down in the corner. And then set your glass animation to be on add so that you can see we’ve got this nice gradient just behind, coloring everything. And maybe change the gradient to a radial gradient. And that looks quite nice. Although, the linear gradient, you know, there’s something to be said for that, as well. So just make this a little darker, I’m happy with those results. And you can always go back to that layer, the glass to shatter layer, and then change this. Microsoft edge osintegrationlevel. You might just want to size that up and put that in a better spot, but all told, that pretty much sums up what we’re making. Remote desktop software captures the mouse and keyboard inputs from the local computer (client) and sends them to the remote computer (server).(1) The remote computer in turn sends the display commands to the local computer. When applications with many graphics including video or 3D models need to be controlled remotely, a remote workstation software that sends the pixels rather than the display commands must be used to provide a smooth, like-local experience.

Remote desktop sharing is accomplished through a common client/server model. The client, or VNC viewer, is installed on a local computer and then connects via a network to a server component, which is installed on the remote computer. In a typical VNC session, all keystrokes and mouse clicks are registered as if the client were actually performing tasks on the end-user machine.(2)

The target computer in a remote desktop scenario is still able to access all of its core functions. Many of these core functions, including the main clipboard, can be shared between the target computer and remote desktop client.

A main use of remote desktop software is remote administration and remote implementation. This need arises when software buyers are far away from their software vendor. The duplicate desktop mode is useful for user support and education. You can use Remote Desktop to connect to and control your PC from a remote device by using a Microsoft Remote Desktop client (available for Windows, iOS, macOS and Android). When you allow remote connections to your PC, you can use another device to connect to your PC and have access to all of your apps, files, and network resources as if you were sitting at your desk.

Note

You can use Remote Desktop to connect to Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise, Windows 8.1 and 8 Enterprise and Pro, Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate, and Windows Server versions newer than Windows Server 2008. You can't connect to computers running a Home edition (like Windows 10 Home).

To connect to a remote PC, that computer must be turned on, it must have a network connection, Remote Desktop must be enabled, you must have network access to the remote computer (this could be through the Internet), and you must have permission to connect. For permission to connect, you must be on the list of users. Before you start a connection, it's a good idea to look up the name of the computer you're connecting to and to make sure Remote Desktop connections are allowed through its firewall.

How to enable Remote Desktop

The simplest way to allow access to your PC from a remote device is using the Remote Desktop options under Settings. Since this functionality was added in the Windows 10 Fall Creators update (1709), a separate downloadable app is also available that provides similar functionality for earlier versions of Windows. You can also use the legacy way of enabling Remote Desktop, however this method provides less functionality and validation.

You can configure your PC for remote access with a few easy steps.

On the device you want to connect to, select Start and then click the Settings icon on the left.

Select the System group followed by the Remote Desktop item.

Use the slider to enable Remote Desktop.

It is also recommended to keep the PC awake and discoverable to facilitate connections. Click Show settings to enable.

As needed, add users who can connect remotely by clicking Select users that can remotely access this PC.

Members of the Administrators group automatically have access.

Make note of the name of this PC under How to connect to this PC. You'll need this to configure the clients.

Windows 7 and early version of Windows 10

To configure your PC for remote access, download and run the Microsoft Remote Desktop Assistant. This assistant updates your system settings to enable remote access, ensures your computer is awake for connections, and checks that your firewall allows Remote Desktop connections.

All versions of Windows (Legacy method)

To enable Remote Desktop using the legacy system properties, follow the instructions to Connect to another computer using Remote Desktop Connection.

Should I enable Remote Desktop?

If you only want to access your PC when you are physically using it, you don't need to enable Remote Desktop. Enabling Remote Desktop opens a port on your PC that is visible to your local network. You should only enable Remote Desktop in trusted networks, such as your home. You also don't want to enable Remote Desktop on any PC where access is tightly controlled.

Be aware that when you enable access to Remote Desktop, you are granting anyone in the Administrators group, as well as any additional users you select, the ability to remotely access their accounts on the computer.

You should ensure that every account that has access to your PC is configured with a strong password.

Why allow connections only with Network Level Authentication?

If you want to restrict who can access your PC, choose to allow access only with Network Level Authentication (NLA). When you enable this option, users have to authenticate themselves to the network before they can connect to your PC. Allowing connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with NLA is a more secure authentication method that can help protect your computer from malicious users and software. Microsoft Edge is the new, default web browser for Windows 10, helping you to experience modern web standards, better performance, improved security, and increased reliability. Microsoft Edge lets you stay up-to-date through the Microsoft Store and to manage your enterprise through Group Policy or your mobile device management (MDM) tools.

Important

The Long-Term Servicing Branch (LTSB) versions of Windows, including Windows Server 2016, don’t include Microsoft Edge or many other Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps. Systems running the LTSB operating systems do not support these apps because their services get frequently updated with new functionality. For customers who require the LTSB for specialized devices, we recommend using Internet Explorer 11.

Microsoft Edge supports all of the same languages as Windows 10 and you can use the Microsoft Translator extension to translate foreign language web pages and text selections for 60+ languages.

** We will continue to support Microsoft Edge on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 until January 15, 2022. These operating systems are out of support and Microsoft recommends you move to a supported operating system such as Windows 10. While Microsoft Edge helps keep you more secure on the web, your PC may still be vulnerable to security risks. In order for IE mode to be supported on these operating systems the devices will need to have the Extended Security Updates for Windows 7. Without the Windows 7 Extended Security updates Internet Explorer functionality will be vulnerable to security risks. Additionally, IE mode functionality may cease to work without the continued servicing through the extended security updates.

*** In the same fashion as above, for Windows 10 SAC releases that are out of support but Microsoft Edge is supported it is recommended to upgrade to a supported Win10 SAC release as soon as possible to remain secure. Microsoft Edge being supported in this state should be considered a temporary bridge to getting to a supported OS state.

**** The Microsoft Edge OPK is available on MOO for IoT OEMs to preinstall and distribute as part of their Windows 10 IoT Enterprise based solution.

Microsoft Edge for iPad® and iPhone® requires iOS 11.0 or later. Microsoft Edge for iPad Pro™ requires iOS 11.0 or later. Microsoft Edge is supported on the two most recent versions of iOS. When a new version of iOS is released, the Microsoft Edge Operating System requirement becomes the then-current two most recent versions: the new version of iOS and the previous version.

Android

Microsoft Edge for Android can be installed on tablets and phones that meet the following criteria: devices running Android KitKat 4.4 or later with an ARM-based processor.

Download the AnyConnect VPN client for macOS 11.0 (Big Sur), macOS 10.15 (Catalina), or macOS 10.14 (Mojave).

In your Downloads folder, double-click the file you just downloaded to open it. An icon will appear on the desktop called AnyConnect, and a separate window will open.

Double-click on AnyConnect.mpkg to run the installer, then follow the steps to complete the installation. NOTE: We recommend you un-check everything (Web Security, Umbrella, etc) except for the VPN and the Diagnostic and Reporting Tool (DART). This will give you a minimal install. The other features are not supported so there's no need to install them.

NOTE TO macOS users: During the installation, you will be prompted to enable the AnyConnect software extension in the System Preferences -> Security & Privacy pane. The requirement to manually enable the software extension is an operating system requirement.

Starting the VPN Client

In your Applications folder, go to the Cisco folder and double-click the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.

Enter vpn.uci.edu in the Ready toConnect to field, then press the Connect button.

Select your desired connection profile from the Group drop-down menu:

UCIFULL – Route all traffic through the UCI VPN.

IMPORTANT: Use UCIFULL when accessing Library resources.

UCI – Route only campus traffic through the UCI VPN. All other traffic goes through your normal Internet provider.

Enter your UCInetID and password, then click OK.

A banner window will appear. Click Accept to close that window. You are now connected!

Disconnecting the VPN Client

When you are finished using the VPN, remember to disconnect.

Click the AnyConnect client icon located in the menu bar near the top right corner of your screen.

Select Quit.
