A SLICE OF SLACK.
It has been a torrid few years since the pandemic hit, I can’t word the experiences we all took a hit one way or another (those of us who were meant to, seems like the majority of the world), and I’m no different, loved ones lost, friends, family, colleagues and even foes… Nonetheless forward life goes, I wrote the below in April 2020, I just didn’t get around sharing it, I guess I too needed a break, my creativity and writing never “broke” though it has been active even through the lows that were experienced, I guess it’s the beauty of poetry that I cut myself “slack” for 2 years and I didn’t stop there, there is no telling what will follow it but I’ll be moving at a steady pace. No rush. I hope you find it entertaining and touching, thank you for being with me since I made my work “public” may there be more. Thank you in advance and always. POSTURE.POISE.POETRY.
A SLICE OF SLACK.

I've been slacking off late, I can't blame it on the "lock down"- because my creativity is always unlocked. I don't want to blame anything or anyone (apart from me), well here is the thing, I'm a writer - a poet so I can choose to turn it all into a work of art or leave it as is and move along onto another subject. You should know by now that it isn't my style. As for slacking that is my style ever so often. It's as poetic as can be.
Slack? Let me cut myself some. Well I'd rather not ask anyone to cut me some, I take matters into my own hands, or much rather my own pages. See, being idle in itself is poetic, it's an art form that many fail to recognize. Sure enough if you are falling behind in class in your work, it's not slacking, that's when you genuinely have a problem that needs attention much like the work you have been neglecting, calling it slacking is an injustice to the word.
Slacking requires being at ease and unbothered. Living and being carried by a particular pace. It is never rushed. Like an ending...

Body shaming is just as evil as racism and abuse... I respect you immensely for speaking out about such. Stay Blessed.

this is 100% why i never fucked with that “normcore” nonsense and why i’m still extremely self-conscious about what i wear and how my clothes fit, even after my weight loss. wearing “normal” clothes only becomes “fashion” when it’s on skinny attractive people and once it’s on a fat person it’s suddenly the trappings of the tacky and the unwashed poors. fuck out of here. you can make anything look good.

N.I.P (None In Particular).
You want me to lose all control.
Ever considered that I have already?
The day that I met you?
Well it could be that it was declining from that day.
I guess you have sway.
I have run out of options.
I guess I should stop running.
Even though I never meant to do so.
I should know better.
Not that it's going to get me to write you a letter.
I've played into your hands.
They are anything but safe.
I assume.
Is it me you are going to consume?
I thought I was immune.
It turns out I'm edible.
I would be quite the treat.

Home. Bound.

It can't be ignored. This is no elephant in the room. It has become a herd in the room. We have been thrown a curve ball in the form of what is called, "Covid19" - Corona virus. It sure is trending, with no telling of when it will be ending or most especially how we will be after it.
For some of us being indoors is like being put under house arrest I can imagine. While for others it's pretty much a dream come true, I mean if you think of it as a teenager this could feel like a break that you have been cheated off your whole schooling career... I mean being indoors is healthy to a degree, just like being "out & about". In terms of being indoors or out, it's all about what you do with the time in or out. After all it does run out. Even if you are not out running.
All this time to ourselves and others, depending on who you are, who you live with, livelihood etc. Like a pensioner, quarantine has been your thing for many years, years that can't be counted on both hands. It's nothing new. To a large some of us it's new to an extent - no one can blame us for feeling like we have just been grounded by the government. What to do though? Read, write, sleep, eat... Repeat? It's true, that somethings are best left to the imagination. I have mine, you have yours.
It's been a torrid couple of weeks, locally and internationally with the outbreak but it's not all bad, it gave some of us a break, even if it feels forced. It is a break from many things. The norm is definitely one of them. One other thing - this is where we break...

Rain Wanes.

See through.
Like the rain falling.
Nobody is calling.
I'm covered though.
I can't count the drops.
Although they are all accounted for.
This is no walk through.
It's said that the best way out is through.
It's all on you.
Doom.
Gloom.
There is plenty of room.
Let it rain.
It will soon wane.

Mind WRITE.
It's 2020. I'm in my 20s. This is the decade I hit my 30's. That is for another time... For now I'm about the rhyme. I have to look after mine. I'm not drinking any wine. Still I want what is fine. Hence I'm getting my Mind WRITE

I'm trying to get my Mind WRITE.
I mean my mind back to writing.
It always feels right.
There is nothing sweet.
About my heart.
I put my flaws.
On the floor.
So that you could see them when walking through my door.
It's best to be concerned.
Than it is to be worried.
Life can't be hurried.
About the author: Mogale R is... A creator. Complex enough to leave you contemplating his work and words but simple enough to leave you with a smile. That is his style.

It's Only WRITE.

It's Only WRITE, that I WRITE off for the year but not write off the year, before I go off until our next appointment - it's that time of year where most if not some start rewinding and playing back. I guess it's only right that I follow suit - well I'm going to be writing back. Do think of it forward though.
I know I've been absent in about a month or two - much rather distant. I have been creating all year round, even if I never made headlines about it. I kept some of my creations to myself, if I didn't share them sooner or later. I guess it was all about the flow, allowing things to be instead of trying to mould them to my liking. There is a time for everything, but not everything will be on time. Who's time though? I've recently had my birthday, and before that I had a brush with death. Almost. It seems like an everyday thing that we almost never made it to this very moment in time that we find ourselves in.
What a year it has been. For all of us in varying degrees. We laughed, cried, sang, remained silent, broke the silence... We received, did we give? Forgive? It's on you to do the reflecting. As for me I'll be doing the writing. After all it's a reflection of me - somewhat. There's no manual for this, although you have to do it manually.
It's been both a marvellous and miserable year - with everything else in between. Thank you for being there. Even with the distance between us. I appreciate you. It's Only WRITE that I now go OFF WRITING - for 2019.

Laughing Matters.

It matters that we laugh.
Just like the birth of a calf.
To some it isn't enough.
I'm going for gold.
I guess I am a hunter.
I might need a gun.
For troubleshooting.
Even though I am often offline.
Our lives are always on the line.
Nothing can be wished away.
Still you can wish away.
People are who they are.
You are who they aren't.
You can pay me.
Just don't visit.

Leave & Live.

Not everyone is your friend.
You not friends with everyone.
At the least you need one.
No doubt you can be one.
Not everyone is going to get a friendly reminder.
Things get heated.
You find your energy depleted.
Tables turn.
You give.
You earn.
There is a better way to live.
We need to know when to leave.
Stay if you must.
Decide fast.

A.W.O.t.L (Always Writing On the Low)

I'm a little of the rails.
Although still on track.
Apparently the less you know the better.
What about the more?
Do you perhaps get written a letter?
Let's not get into that.
At least not yet.
It's not neglect.
Nor have I been caught in the act.
Act of what?
Writing.
For me.
It's still done.
Even if not always shared.
At times the rhythm is low.
It's not always meant to be heard.
It can be read.
It can be imagined.
That is not the half of it.
Put it to the test.
If not give it a rest.

LAST TIME OUT.

Last time out.
I put nothing out.
I kept it all in.
Although I've been up and about.
I didn't give anyone any clout.
While at it I took my own.
This time I give it to you.
I've been absent.
There have been hard lessons learnt.
Like going through lent.
I appreciate the time spent.
Sometimes we don't have any.
We can never own it.
Still we can manage it.
This is my brief.
Even though it's far from brief.
I did no wrong.
For you though.
I'll put on a show.
You deserve.
Here is my serve.

Make More.

Make your own everything, from mistakes, misfortune and misery.
Ofcourse the money.
Let's not forget whatever else is in between or after.
This is not for laughter.
Well bee's make their own honey.
So you might just have to buy that.
In actual fact you have few options there.
Reality does sting.
Not all of us are able to sing.
Although through life we swing.
If you haven't yet got the hang of it.
Try not to hang on too tight.
At times left is right.
So loosen up.
Not necessarily your grip.
Definitely not your lip.
It might just get you hit on the hip.

Somewhere There.

It's somewhere there.
I'd be specific if I knew exactly where.
If anything I do care.
I try to be cordial.
It's more of a responsibility of mine.
Spreading what's divine.
With our fellow beings we must align.
It doesn't come easy.
After all we do come across the sleazy.
Be sure not to have them keep you busy.
Something's are not worth your time.
I'm not saying that they aren't.
Remember we all share the same source.
Let's spread peace like you would sauce.

Seasoned Thoughts.

It's starting to get hot.
A lot.
Not too long ago it was cold.
The feeling never gets old.
In fact it was just like last night.
I just remembered I am not the same person at night.
As I am during the day.
During the day I have no time to lay.
Pitty I also lay wake most nights.
At least tonight's warm.
If only it was the norm.
That would be cool.
I thought I left those thoughts at school.

Light Reading.

Today I am off.
Maybe because I don't know what to write.
It just doesn't feel right.
Maybe I need to see the light.
Or even have it shown to me.
Perhaps have it shine on me.
That's a light thought.
You can think of this as light reading.
Although it's birth has been nothing light.
It's still nothing to give you a fright.
Let it brew for the night.
Let it take flight.
It's very much in sight.
Clear as white.

Fine on the Borderline.

A close call.
The truth is we often call from afar.
The world see's all.
Especially our fall.
Don't dismiss everything you don't read.
Just like not believing all you do read.
Expert advice is over rated.
Your own thoughts are often under valued.
Not everyone has a method to their madness.
What sadness.
All the prayers in the world won't stop your demise.
It will happen right before your eyes.
Vanity.
Insanity.
Borderline.
It's a tight rope.
We all have ours to walk.
