Globalization Then & Now

      As you can see in the picture, the globe as a person represents the globalization. The circles connected to it show how globalization happened before. 

      The book also represents globalization but in a new perspective. The circles connected to it are the process or ways of globalization now. 

      Globalization in the past years has a tangible flow of physical goods, flows mainly between developed economies, the states and big multinational companies drive flows and technology transfer from developed to emerging countries. 

      But now, globalization has intangible flows of services and data, has greater participation by emerging economies and megacities, grows role of small enterprises, non-state actors and individuals and technology transfer in both directions.

Leaders are Made not born.

In this present time most of the jobs are performed in a group or in a team especially in the business industries wherein a specific person is the one who brings the whole company or organization into success, this person is what we call the leader. Leadership is a crucial part of it in the sense that it is one of the things that makes a group perform effectively with one vision and to come up with a desirable result or success thus people came up with the question "Is leadership inherited?" or "Is it learned?".

It is very evident in this present time that leaders are made not born as we can see numerous seminars and workshops discussing and talking about leadership. Every leader has to be equipped with an essential skills and characteristics to be considered as a great leader in addition according to Forbes' article there are 8 essential qualities that defines a great leadership, these are sincere enthusiasm, integrity, great communication skills, loyalty, decisiveness, managerial competence, empowerment and charisma, these skills validates that we cannot really say or claim that leaders are born simply because those given qualities are obtained and learned through experience and not by merely inheritance.

Some of the characteristics and skills may be inherited from a parent to its offspring but without desire and passion of being a leader and experience, a person would not be an effective leader. Being a leader is not just being a great individual but having the ability to produce great individuals, furthermore as said by Ronald Reagan "The greatest is not necessarily the one who does the great things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things." that quote emphasizes that even if you are great at doing things on your own it will all lead to the question, "Can you lead your group and make them do great things as you or even beyond what you can?".

The transformational leadership theory is one of the theories that supports that leaders are made not born, as this theory supposes that a leader interacts with the followers and in the process the follower gains truest and be inspired by the leader resulting to the advancement of the group and not only the individual or the leader itself; that reminds me of what Napoleon Bonaparte said that "if you build an army of 100 lions and their leader is a dog, in any fight, the lions will die like a dog. But if you build an army of 100 dogs and their leader is a lion, all dogs will fight like a lion.", for the same reason social learning theory supports to the concept of the cultivation of leadership ability as it states that we adapt or learn different skills or behavior in the environment by the process of interacting with other people.

On the whole leadership skills are learned and enhanced with different experiences thus leading does not only encompasses how to handle followers but also inspiring followers to make them perform efficiently and to transform them making them perform in their optimal level. Though it is somehow true that some person's characteristics and attributes may be inherited but in reality the environment and experience has the most impact on person's capability to lead, hence LEADERS ARE MADE NOT BORN.

Friends for keeps

We are all glad seeing each other again, it's not that long that we haven't seen each other but it is evident in our eyes that we miss each other so much, we are from different school now and nothing has changed in everyone of us. At that time we're like escaping to the reality, just enjoying the moment with each other like no one is around.

Our conversations, our laughs, our stories, and our smiles were priceless, taking selfies on every corner of where we are, capturing every bit of moments, and on those moments that is where we can say that we are really breathing and that we are alive.

Before we go to our homes we hugged each other, and on that moment we feel relieved and feel that we treat everyone of us not just as a friend but as a family. I hope this friendship will last forever.

DANCE

One of my significant experience is when I discovered dancing, it started when I tried to audition in Special Program in the Arts(SPA) dance which is a program that enhances one's ability in dance, this experience doesn't only taught me how to dance but the attitude that I must have. Dancing teaches me the discipline and how to be a responsible person.

Dancing helps me grow as person as it gives me an asset and an extra thing to enjoy in life moreover it also helps me in my academic aspect because nowadays a lot of teachers believes that learning can also be passed through the use of arts and sometimes they require students to express themselves through arts besides it does not give me that much burden as I developed my ability to express something through the art of dance.

past dream comes in the present

Being a volleyball player is one of my dreams, It was my most favorite sport since I was in 6th grade, before was badminton. I always feeling envious when I see people playing volleyball in the courts and I just imagine that I was there playing. I always feel the excitement while watching matches on television on games like UAAP and those games gives me this drive and urge to play like them and be a volleyball player.

Even though I am not that good at playing volleyball I still wish to be in a volleyball team and be able to play in a tournament. I know I should be doing practices to be able to enhance my ability but because of academic things and my hobby on playing computer games I was not able to make time for it in the past years.

Since I am a college student now I should be busy doing things for my academic path, I shouldn't able to make time for volleyball because I really left that dream behind years ago as I lost hope of achieving it but I can't believe that I still made it, Yes, I made it!, I am now a part of a volleyball team, I achieved one of my dreams! Maybe this seems small things to other but for me this is an achievement that I will treasure for life, Even though this is just a small competition compare to what I wanted, I will still treasure this time and I will not waste this opportunity that the creator gave me, I will work and play hard, I hope we can make it to the finals.
