What is this all about?
Hi everyone! Prepare to read a bit of a novel, I will try to keep it short, but this is my very first post.
The goal of this Tumblr is to encourage people who are longing to be healthy and fit but don’t really know where to start. But wait… aren’t there already millions and millions of YouTube channels, Instagram’s, twitters, Facebooks, and other social medias, that are all about health and fitness? Of course. However, I feel that I have a few things to offer that are a little different than most of those outlets. The first thing is that I have basically never been able to stick with anything…ever. That brings me to the second thing: I am an average girl. I struggle with all of the same body image issues that others struggle with, I have my own set of health related issues, and I am basically starting from ground zero. I am not already some super beautiful, fit and shredded girl, with a perfect diet that I use to teach you to be like me. Do I have a little bit of a background on this subject? Yes, and I will get into that a little deeper in the basic “My Fitness Journey” post, that I’m sure you’ve already read hundreds of. But, I am not built, or strong, or ready to tell you “The Best 5 Tips That Will Make You Feel Great, Look Great, and Rule the World!” because, to put it simply, I don’t know what those things are. I decided to start with Tumblr, because I have never blogged or tracked any of my health tips online, and I want to see what sort of response I get. If it is a positive one, I may continue using another form of social media. To be perfectly honest, if this doesn’t work out, that’s okay, because this is a place for me to compile all of my own personal tips, progress, recipes, opinions, etc. This is kind of like my diary. Do most people post their diaries on the internet and have supporters? Not exactly. A person who writes in a diary simply does it for therapeutic reasons and they benefit from the act of expression. That is my main goal, but I hope to encourage people also. This all spurred from my own personal annoyance, and my love for the YouTuber SarahsDay. Inspired by Sezzy, I am sick of giving up on my goals and want a place that I am held accountable. If you don’t know who this YouTuber is, and you are truly into health and fitness, I highly recommend binge watching all of her videos. While she is extremely inspiring and has lots of great tips, it can be discouraging to watch her videos because she has a perfect figure. Also her problem areas are her arms and legs, and mine is my stomach. I feel like there aren’t many health gurus out there with my body type. Trying to follow everything that she does can cause problems because of this. Also, we are different people! As are you and I! Our bodies are different and chances are what works for me, will not work for you. And lastly, I am American. Do I want to live in Canada like HolisticHabits or Australia like SarahsDay? OF COURSE. But I don’t, and something that can be kind of frustrating is the difference between products and accessibility in America. There are lots of things that Sezzy swears by, or loves, that don’t exist here, or can’t get shipped to the states. So in an effort to console myself, and the fact that I can’t be Sezzy, I am going to make it a fun adventure finding alternatives and hashtag it #AmericanSezzy.
SO with aaallllll of that said, I want to bring you along for the ride and see what I can achieve.
Love, Shay
