Well I have blonde hair so there’s that. And weasel is a childhood nickname dating all the way back to preschool. My mom would come pick me up saying “Natalie Louise, time to go home,” and one of my little friends asked my mom why she called me “Natalie the weasel.” My parents thought it was hilarious and so it stuck, lol. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣

Two weeks ago I took my 10-year-old nephew to a Lego Convention (which I didn’t know existed and was super cool) and he introduced me to the world of Minifigs. This, coupled with my Star Wars obsession, led to me finding a Minifig of my precious boy! Look at him! He’s the cutest! I love him!

I also found my other two Star Wars loves and realized these three would make an epic team.

Tech: *falls into clouds* *dies*

Since my school year is ending and I’ll soon be losing my Mini-Tech to 2nd Grade, here are some of my favorite moments/interactions of the last few weeks.

“Did you know that most birds in South America eat dragonflies?”

“Did you know that volcanoes can produce earthquakes?”

“George Washington lived during the Revolutionary War, but John said he was alive in the 1980s. That’s absurd!”

“I’m pretty sure we’re having recess in approximately 5 or 6 minutes.”

Because he can be restless and always moving, he fell out of his chair and hit his chin on his desk. He looked at me with wide teary eyes behind his goggles glasses and said in a shaky voice “I’m ok but maybe I should be more careful in the future.” (I still checked on him and send him up to the nurse for an ice pack despite him trying to be strong and brave)

And my favorite interaction:

Mini-Tech: “I’m a bit concerned today.”

Me: “Why?”

Mini-Tech: “It is overcast, rainy, and windy. That’s optimal conditions for an F-5 tornado.”

Me: “Oh, bud, don’t worry, we don’t have tornadoes in this part of the country.”

Mini-Tech: *looking at me skeptically* “I suppose. But the weather pattern is similar.”

I’m going to miss my daily fact-dumping sessions from my Mini-Tech!! I’ll have to seek him out next year and ask for some new facts he’s learned. My heart needs it!

Bad Batch Finale from my 10-year-old nephew’s perspective:

“I thought Tech was gonna be a clone assassin. Or Cody. That woulda been cool. But then the assassins died like super brutal like and we never saw them for real.”

“I mean, all the signs were there for Tech to be the assassin but instead he got stabbed and fried and that was it.”

“I can’t believe they cut off Crosshair’s hand. I mean, he coulda got a fake one and still learned to shoot with it.”

“Ventress just kinda was there and didn’t really say if Omega is force sensitive. Like, we just still don’t know.”

“I wish we coulda seen who the assassins were. They seemed like kinda a big deal.”

“Where was Rex? Why didn’t he help them out at the end?”

“Is the Zillo Beast just like running around the forest eating people now?”

“And what’s gonna happen to those dogs? Are they gonna all die?” (Lots of worry from him about the lurca hounds 🥹)

And, proof that he’s my true flesh and blood, he’s a Tech lives truther!

“He just fell into clouds and we never saw him actually die. He coulda got picked up by someone or still be on Tantiss somewhere.”

And my favorite line:

“Why’d they have to kill Tech? He was the coolest and the best one. They shoulda brought him back.”

I loved hearing what he picked up from a kid’s perspective on a kids’ show. I never talked to him about the show throughout the season so hearing him have similar thoughts, theories, and questions to me was so affirming.

If a 10-year-old with no social media access to see cryptic tweets or teasing memes, picked up on the Tech is CX2 thing then we definitely weren’t just imagining it!

Also kudos to my mom who’s never seen an episode but was still trying to follow the conversation and be sympathetic. “I’m sorry, that’s not cool. They should’ve brought Tex back.” 😂 Bless her heart.

Still not over the finale fiasco so I decided to exercise some self-care in the form of using my Teacher Appreciation gift cards to buy myself an Emotional Support Tech™️

Look at him! He’s amazing! I feel better already!

Between him and my mini-Tech in my class (who asked me today how to spell ‘aerospace engineer’ as he showed me the rocket ship he drew with modified engines 🥹) my heart is slowly healing!

Thank you! I’m glad I’m not alone in my feelings. It’s nice to know others are upset too and I’m not silly.

And YES MINI TECH! The best part is that he’s always SO excited to tell me (or anyone) about his random facts. The way his eyes get big and light up behind his strapped on glasses and he smiles widely while bouncing on the balls of his feet as he tells me all about how the pyramids were made of limestone. ❤️

Am I silly for being mad? And hurt?

Like, am I not justified in thinking it was cruel to string us Tech fans along only to have it lead to absolutely nothing?

It feels a bit like we’re the butt of a joke and they’re laughing in our faces. Like they cracked themselves up with every elusive comment, cryptic interview answer, and teasing tweet.

It’s not even the fact that Tech is actually dead. It’s the way it was handled, the way they cruelly led us on for over a year and dropped hints like candy just to keep their viewers and ratings up. That’s dirty to me. Dirty, dishonest, and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Plus the fact that none of the characters really mourned Tech for who he was to them, only what he could do for them. Like aww it’s a shame our smart brother is dead, we really could have used his brain right now. Oh well, guess we’ll have to figure it out.

PLUS that whole sequence mourning and honoring Mayday, a one episode character, but a ten-second side-eye for their brother after talking about how it will be hard to do something without him. Like did Tech even mean anything to them?

And the whole CX2 fake out. Don’t even get me started in that. I can’t. That was ridiculous.

Basically Tech’s death meant nothing other than, well someone had to die because evil empire and high stakes and shock value.

I feel like I’m going to be mad and hurt about this for a while and I probably won’t be watching season 3 again anytime soon. And the show will always be a bit tainted for me as a result.

In the meantime, I’ll console myself with my own mini-Tech in my class who eagerly showed me his picture of a hummingbird that he “trieded his best” to draw then proceeded to tell me how they can beat their wings over 80 times per second. He’s giving me life and healing my soul 🥹

The show runners literally confirmed tech wasn’t coming back and to bring him back, it would be tacky. I feel like if you feel “strung along” that’s your own fault.

Hmm I must have missed that confirmation and that wording. Any chance there’s a source for it?

I don’t remember seeing that but I DO remember hearing and seeing vague references to Tech’s death using words such as “lost” and “fallen”. I also remember seeing tweets from show runners teasing things on Twitter about seeing someone on screen that will leave people fulfilled (in reply to a grieving Tech fan). I do remember hearing how Tech’s “life as a soldier” is over but not outright saying his life is over full stop. I remember seeing references to resurrected characters in tweets that of course are going to naturally lead people to allude to a certain character who died last season.

Like, they didn’t have to do that. They did that on purpose. And I wasn’t delusional for having hope.

I don’t remember hearing a lot of “definitely dead” or “gone for good.” That wasn’t made clear. When it very easily could have been. Instead it was vague and cryptic and elusive and, in my opinion, completely intentional.

So no, it wasn’t my own fault and I’m not crazy or delusional or unreasonable.

But thanks for going anon and trolling the Tech tag and coming into my asks to tell me I’m to blame for having a perfectly reasonable reaction to some very clear baiting.

The temptation to stay up late and watch the finale is SO intense right now. Especially knowing that if I don’t, I won’t be able to watch until like 9pm tomorrow and I really don’t know if I can wait that long.

Being on the West Coast has been so nice all season watching the 20 min episodes and still in bed at a reasonable time.

But with an hour long finale I just can’t justify staying up past 1 when my alarm goes off at 5:30. I can’t be a zombie and wrangle a circus of 1st graders. I won’t survive!

Plus I know I’ll want to stay up and scroll Tumblr after and might even be emotionally compromised which won’t help me sleep.

Guess I’m waiting until Wednesday night.

For real though, I have to teach a class of 6 and 7-year-olds on Wednesday and I can’t just be up until 1 am.

BUT I am hoping for a long finale so I might need to forego my midnight watch sessions and wait until Wednesday evening instead.

Now to figure out how to snooze/hide my Tumblr app because I have no self-control and can’t be trusted not to look at spoilers 🙈

I’m a 1st grade teacher and I have a boy in my class who wears thick bottle-lens glasses with a strap on them and loves to spout off random facts to anyone who will (or won’t) listen about things he watched, learned about, or read about.

The other day he came to my desk and I thought he needed help with his work but he really just wanted to tell me all about the main food source of a stegosaurus and their dietary needs.

Then last week, he was talking with his desk partner about something and I saw him raise his finger and say “actually” and I nearly died!

So basically, I have a mini-Tech in my class this year and I’m loving it!

OMG ALSO! One day his goggles glasses broke on the playground and he came in after recess with them missing a screw. So I sent him to the office (with an escort because he can’t see) so his mom can bring him a new pair and the frenzy that ensued in class from seeing him without his glasses! They were equal parts intrigued/confused/freaked out/blown away at the sight and it was hard to get them back on track after that. One girl said she hoped they could fix his glasses because he can’t really be him without them 🥲

Also I just miss Tech a lot and need him back like now!
